Chapter 6 - Arata vs Eichiro

I don't know how long has it been since we came here. I also did not expect the morning to be this eventful. And also there is no way anyone would expect a development where I, a quiet and reserved natured boy of the lowest ranking sign to be fighting the leader of rank 7 sign. It was crazy yet here I was.

"Come at me Arata Akihiro!"

Shouting that he created 10 magic circles around him and shouted yet again...

"Wind Elemental - Burst of Revelation"

This guy...is really going all out to kill me right now! Winds flowing at approximately 140 km/h headed straight towards me. I gritted my teeth and summoned 10 magic circles of myself and started running away...

"Wind Elemental - Refresh"

I was still carrying Masumi-san so it was hard to run. The barrier blocked all of the wind I saw Eichiro closing the distance between us and I had to run slow so that Masumi-san's wounds do not worsen...

"Leave me somewhere, I am only slowing you down."

"Masumi! Are your legs alright?"

"Y-Yes it is!" Did he just call me without any honorifics? For some reason that felt warm.

"Then, will you help me a bit?"

"S-Sure!"

I stopped running and turned around to face Eichiro. He was surprised by that but still kept running towards me. This time, I started running towards as well while casting 20 shards of wind...

"Wind Elemental - Slash of Wind Geyser"

"No way! That's one of the master-level spells!? and he casted that many in a low amount of time...INTERESTING!!!"

I rushed towards him while those shards were headed straight towards him. He gritted his teeth and shouted a spell...

"Wind Elemental - Facade"

"Dark Elemental - Disable" I said in a low voice.

He tried to cast wide-area explosive magic to blow the shards but that was a suicidal move so I disabled it with Dark Elemental. Blood started dropping from my miasmatic hand. I wrapped it up very hardly with my clothes so Masumi-san did not notice it yet but one more use of it she will realize it. That was my huge gamble...

"Tch, where the hell did that magic go!?"

The shards were impacted but he managed to dodge some using aeromatics, another intermediate defense spell-like afterimage. Some of them still did the damage and shredded his clothes along with his skin. He was in a tough situation. I closed my distance against him and we went to some hand to hand combat.

I tried kicking him in the solar plexus like Renjiro but he blocked hit with his hand coughed up blood. Then, I used the momentum and ducked my body and put up Masumi-san. She tried axe kicking him but failed since he used both his hand to block and threw her leg away. I put her away in my back and again put my body in front and used the continuous momentum and force to roundhouse kick to the temple which he blocked using a spell...

"Wind Elemental - Starfire Typhoon"

I was blown away and Masumi-san fell to the ground as well. The fall impact went straight for her broken arm. She coughed even more blood. I was also damaged a lot. Starfire Typhoon sends shards just like mine but they are not that sharp but instead of sharpness they are forceful. The force was huge and I coughed up blood as well. My uniform was shredded too. How did this turn from a game to a bloodbath...I guess this is how this world is going to be from now on.

I got up and saw that Eichiro had regained his composure too. I figured out that now was the perfect time for that gamble. I let out a grin and said...

"Let's finish this...Eichiro-san!"

"Gah...Hahaha!! I'll finish this Arata Akihiro!"

With that my gamble started. I saw Eichiro let out a grin as well and started screaming a spell's name.

"Wind Elemental - Solar Typhoon"

Solar Typhoon is a master-level spell as well that combines the wind and sun power and boosts the power of the buff shards. It came raging towards me but that is what I wanted.

"Akihiro-kun! Watch out that's a master-level spell!!"

Masumi-san shouted at me. Of course, I knew about it but I had different plans. I let out a really evil grin and rushed towards Masumi-san. Her eyes widened out of shock...

"What are you doing Akihiro-kun!?"

"Didn't I tell you that I will not let your wounds get worsened? Just following what I said."

"W-Wah!?"

I carried Masumi-san yet again. I tore the part of my uniform that was covering the miasma. I used the clothing to cover the eyes of Masumi-san and whispered...

"I'm sorry Masumi-san but I will use fast wind magic so I blinded you. Forgive me."

"O-Okay..."

I let out another grin and charged towards that master-level spell. Seeing this Eichiro was shocked and said...

"What the fuck are you doing!? If you do that you will die!?"

"Just the way I like hahaha!!"

"You're one crazy bastard! Quiet my ass!!''

While I was hit by a few of those shards, I endured the blows. I did not let myself be blown back and kept running and closing the distance and then when there were few left I shouted...

"Wind Elemental - Refresh"

My barriers were broken by the force but since there were few left, I was able to nullify it. Then when I finally closed our distance I quickly took a look at Eichiro's body. His hands were cut in several places, his ribs were probably broken and his legs were cut as well. So...

"Wind Elemental - Wind Rush"

I used the force of my running and used the wind prana to make him immobile. Then I knee stroke him in his chin to shake his face and lose his vision for a few moments. Then at last this gamble. Whether Eichiro will or will not be able to see my Dark Elemental Magic. Guess at this point this doesn't matter anymore. Time is of the essence...

"Dark Elemental - Hex Drain"

I purged by hand hard in Eichiro's ribs and went straight for his heart. Don't worry I did not kill him or anything. I drained all of his mana until he was unconscious. It seemed to me that I was fast enough, so, Eichiro couldn't have possibly caught onto it.

"Is everything alright Akihiro-kun? I heard Eichiro scream very hard."

"Everything *cough* is alright. Don't worry. I will take you to the infirmary now so, bear with me for a little bit more."

"Are you sure you are alright? You should get yourself treated first. I can walk now."

"No. I promised. I-I will talk you...to the...infirmary."

"N-No you should---"

"I said...I will take you to the infirmary."

"Why are you so hung up on that!?"

"Because my mother always..said...never break your promises."

"..."

I was not alright. The miasma had spread through my whole arm and was also reaching my body. I was coughing blood and I was cut in many places as well. Still, I had to take her to the infirmary. For my sake as well...

"Wind *cough* Elemental - Aer---"

Just when I was about to use a travel spell even though I was hitting my limit, I was stopped by someone familiar. It was none other than Hayakawa-Sensei. Kurumi, Shin, and Yukio had come too. I was barely conscious at that time so I couldn't see the look in their faces at that time.

I felt Masumi-san being lifted from my arms and I was also taken in arms by someone. Someone was holding my arms and I was hearing that person crying. I bet it is Kurumi, she can be so sentimental. I was losing consciousness. I don't even know whether they were able to see my exposed miasmatic hand. So much for keeping it a secret. Such a pathetic bastard I am.

But, before I lost consciousness. I felt a warm hand patting my head. I slightly opened my eyes and saw the face of my mother smiling and patting my head. Saying...

"You did a good job. Arata."

As I saw my consciousness fading, I saw it was actually Hayakawa-Sensei. I smiled back at her and said softly...

"I kept my promise. Mother..."
