Chapter 7: The Sects II

Sect Selection Trial Grounds

Zhang Xin, Zhang Yue, and Li Wei find Lady Jin and Yu Ming sitting in chairs talking. Well, Lady Jin speaks while Yu Ming listens.

Zhang Xin walks over, introducing Zhang Yue and Lady Jin to each other, "Greetings, Lady Jin! This is Zhang Yue, daughter of Zhang Clan Head. "

"This is Jin Ya from the famed Jin Clan. "

"Also, this is Yu Ming from my village. "

Jin Ya walks over with Yu Ming following, "Greetings Zhang Yue. "

As the five walk back and Lady Jin waves someone from outside to bring more chairs, "Let's sit down. I was just explaining to Ming which Sects prefer what. "

The five sit down as Li Wei asks, "Yu Ming, What Qi Root do you have ?" Zhang Xin and Zhang Yue lean in to listen as well.

"I have an Earthen Qi Root. "

A brief moment of silence. "A single element Qi Root...?"

Lady Jin adds, "I would like to keep my Qi Root to myself, but I think enough people know, that it doesn't matter. I have Metal Element Qi Root."

Zhang Yue congratulates Lady Jin and Yu Ming as Li Wei and Zhang Xin struggle with the information, "That is amazing. I am a 4-Element Qi Root without the Fire Element branch. "

Zhang Xin and Li Wei finally return to reality as they disclose their Qi Roots,

"I have Fire-Wood-Metal Qi Root (Li Wei). "

"I have Earth-Water-Wood Qi Root (Zhang Xin). "

"Let us continue with the discussion about the Sects. "

After a brief discussion, Lady Jin and Zhang Yue exchange what they know.

Being a scion from a famed Major Clan, Jin Ya has better information than Zhang Yue, an unfavoured daughter.

The new five sects have their codes and conditions;

Free Spirit Pavillion is a relatively Unorthodox Sect, focusing on dual cultivation while emphasizing a person being a 'Free Spirit'.

Vajra Heart Temple was a powerful Buddhist Cultivation Sect that had an extreme focus on hunting evil cultivators. They accept only men with a Buddhist Affinity.

Crane Mountain Dao Sect was a long-standing Orthodox Sect with few rules. It was relatively strong with lots of legacies.

Soaring Dragon Peak was a Sect with dragon-related legacies and had bad blood with Dragon Ascension Sect.

Tranquil Moon Sect was a mysterious all-female Sect with an extreme aversion to males.

"How about we check our compatibility with the various Sects first and then come back here in a few hours? " Zhang Yue stands up and suggests eagerly.

Finding everyone's agreement, Zhang Yue takes a brisk pace toward the Eternal Blossom Palace Courtyard while others move towards their targets, leaving Li Wei and Yu Ming behind. "Let's explore by ourselves before we meet, Brother Li Wei."

After a short bow, Yu Ming also wanders off.

----------------------------------------

Tranquil Moon Palace Courtyard

The courtyard was surrounded by girls, with boys watching from a distance. Zhang Xin felt it was truly strange that none of them were conversing until she got close to the courtyard.

It was like she had entered another world. Every sound she was used to hearing had disappeared. She could not speak a word either.

Zhang Xin looked around till she saw the reason.

'Pursue Immortality in silence. Sever all relations with men then you shall be qualified to join Tranquil Moon Palace.'

Once she saw the message, Zhang Xin immediately left the area, not daring to enter the courtyard.

----------------------------------------

Dragon Ascension Sect Courtyard

Evidently, Dragon Ascension Sect was more popular than Tranquil Moon Sect, with many children directly joining without thinking about any Sects.

Li Wei wandered around, asking for the reason why the Sect had such popularity.

It was surprisingly simple; many of those joining already had some senior family members in the Sect. It would be easier for these juniors to rely on their seniors.

Li Wei moved about the courtyard, talking with other disciples until he heard a familiar voice.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Searching for the voice, Li Wei was so shocked he felt his heart would jump out of his chest when a person in Daoist robes appeared before him.

"Junior, we meet again. " Li Wei blankly stared at the Daoist before bowing hurriedly, " Greetings, Immortal- "

"Stop that. It is fate that we have met twice. Do you want to join my Sect as my provisional disciple? " Daoist Wu waved his hand to stop Li Wei from bowing.

It took a moment before Li Wei rushed to kowtow to his new master, making Daoist Wu smile and nod in satisfaction.

"Follow me. You can inform your friends about your decision later on. "

Daoist Wu's smile froze as a voice seemed to enter only his ears,

"You old fox! What a great fate! You have been following that kid with your senses since he appeared! Why don't you con a few more children, hmph!! "

Daoist Wu sneered without replying before immediately bringing his facade back up.

----------------------------------------

Soaring Dragon Peak Courtyard

An old man wearing robes covered in dragon designs sneered as he looked in the direction of the Dragon Ascension Sect's Courtyard.

----------------------------------------

Sword Burial Mountain Courtyard

Yu Ming had come here to try his luck. Unable to resist the idea of flying in the sky on a sword, Yu Ming walked over to the entrance where many solemn older children were standing.

Before he could ask anything, he saw a tombstone standing before the gates,

' One Sword to bury all !!! ' etched on it.

Yu Ming directly sat down as a sharp pain stabbed into his when he saw the tomb. After some time, Yu Ming was finally able to open his eyes and looked around in confusion and fear before he could finally deduce it was a sort of test.

As Yu Ming recovered from the shock, a woman carrying an ancient sword walked directly toward the tomb.

As she got closer and closer to the tomb, a faint hum seemed to echo through the air before she crossed into the courtyard.

Yu Ming belatedly notices that it was Lady Jian who entered. Too tired to think anymore, Yu Ming simply patted himself and left.

----------------------------------------

Crane Mountain Dao Sect Courtyard

Yu Ming arrives to find Jin Ya being flattered by men trying to strike up a conversation with her while she politely replies in a disinterested manner.

Yu Ming walks over when Jin Ya notices him and waves him over.

"Big Sister Jin, why have you not tried to enter yet? "

"The test seems to be a bit different, I was waiting for someone to try it before going in."

Yu Ming and Jin Ya wait a while before someone finally walks inside.

A Daoist man of advanced age seems to be sitting in front of many tables, sipping tea.

"There are cups of tea available. They detect impurities. The more you have, the more pain you will feel. If you don't cry out in pain, you can enter our Sect. "

The boy who walked in evidently does not know tea-drinking ceremonies as he directly drinks the tea.

The boy lurches over in pain but manages to keep quiet as the pain subsides.

"We have our first disciple." Adds the old Daoist with a smile.

Seeing that the test was not something as convoluted as the one from Sword Burial Mountain, Yu Ming immediately walks over to try.

Sitting clumsily after bowing to the elder, Yu Ming holds the teacup lightly, feeling a stab of pain from his hand injuries as he sips on the tea.

For a moment, the pain in his hands seems to feel distant. As if they had nothing to do with him. Instead, a burning pain seems to take over his body, being particularly painful in some spots.

The pain disappeared as quickly as it came, making Yu Ming doubt whether it was his imagination.

One look at the smiling Daoist Elder assures him that it was not a dream; He had finally entered a cultivation Sect!

Yu Ming scrambles back to Jin Ya with a widely smiling face as she also decides to enter. Yu Ming deflates a little when he sees the tea has nearly no effect on Jin Ya before perking up as she approaches.

"Congratulations Big Sister Jin! " For the first time, Jin Ya also smiles lightly at congratulations.

"Let us return, Ming. We can wait for others before we go back to our inns. "

----------------------------------------

Eternal Blossom Palace Courtyard

A valiant-looking woman in red armor shouts, " Those who seek to join our Palace must have the guts to withstand my Killing Intent! As long as you do not puke, I don't care for your background, Qi Root, or score! "

Zhang Yue feels the world dim while an atrocious pain twists into her abdomen, holding onto her breakfast stubbornly before the world turns back to normal and she collapses panting.

"You are accepted! Come to the Kaiqi City Lord's Residence in 3 days when the Sects depart. "
