Edian was called into a meeting from the Elders on the council by what seemed like random. I mean, he had been wondering what happened to Lilia, so maybe it’s about that, but then again, not really his problem, so why should he care? She was still in testing, and if there was no issue with that, why make it an issue at all. He sat down in the meeting room, with his pen and paper to take notes like the awesome counselor he was. He chuckled to himself. He could brave anything and win, as long as he was strong. Which he was, of course. He was the strongest person he knew. Well, except for Lilia. Not physically, but mentally. You see, she trusts no one, and relies solely on herself for survival. He knew this because it was something he just picked up on. You know, he wasn’t exactly sure he knew that actually now that he thought about it, but it didn’t matter. She was a perfect girl. Strong. Apathetic. Untouchable. She didn’t get swept up in emotions or sob-stories, and she was no-nonsense. She was the only (sort of) sane and rational person in his group. He still was laughing at the fact that they put him in charge of a bunch of psycho kids, like he was some sort of responsible babysitter. It was annoying.
I can’t keep track of them any better than myself, which isn’t very well.
He grinned. Happy to see they think so highly of me though, he glowed with pride as he hummed to himself.
Finally the elders sat down and got to business.
They first addressed all the campers in his bunk, Cabin One: there was Lilia (of course), Mineit (the nosy one with too many questions), Julian (he talked too much), Liam (he liked math way too much and he was always creeping Edian out with whatever evil schemes he types on his damn iPad). There was also the severely autistic Silas, who just overall annoyed Edian. Hey, don’t hate the player, hate the game. If he people don’t want me to be annoyed by him, don’t make him so fucking annoying… Anyway, then there was Friden, who Edian just really didn’t think was worth his time. She was too boring and not fun enough to talk to. There were like a couple more campers he forgot about, and some scheduling talk, and then they finally started to talk about when Lilia was coming back.

“She has some severe mental conditions. Trauma responses, abandonment issues, real bad stuff. Hard life, too. Edian, I want you to just keep a lookout for her. She's got real bad depression and trust issues. If she starts to start to trust you, or her cabin mates, I want you to encourage that. Also reinforce if she starts to open up and wants to befriend you. That’s a good thing.” The elder, Ranne, head of the medical department looks him in the eyes. “Got it?”
“Yeah, that makes sense. Sounds simple enough,” Edian responded, his irritation with her growing. Every other elder trusts him. She should too…
“Uh-huh… Either way, I want you to report directly to me.”
Whyy? “Got it.”
“Great. I’m sending her to Cabin One. She will be there by noon. She’ll be disoriented, probably, but after a while she should be fine. Be responsible, Edian.”
“Yeah, I know. Understood,” Edian grumbled back. Ranne sighed and mumbled something to herself.
“Thank you, Madam Ranne,” the Head Elder said. “Edian, you’re dismissed.”
Edian hopped up from his seat with a spring in his step, and sauntered away.
I’ve got this shit in the fucking bag, no prob!
He smiled to himself once more, before exiting the building.
