Mentor

Daemon.

Suddenly, the wolf stirred and appeared to try to break out. I sprang up and headed towards the building, following my instincts as if my initiation took place yesterday. Seymour accompanied me but did not allow me to leave the alley. He dragged me back to sneak behind the tree.

That scent... I started getting mad again. Diana appeared from the arch and headed to the building entrance while talking on the phone. She still lived here!

I was desperate to inhale her aroma and clutched to the tree bark with my grown claws. Seymour firmly grasped my shoulders. I wanted to approach Diana...

She paused at the entrance to dial the code. I knew she would vanish behind that metal door in a matter of seconds. This notion made me feel like I was losing something vital.

When the door closed loudly, I moaned and ran after my obsession. Seymour grabbed me.

"Very intriguing, yet nothing is clear..." he remarked.

Seymour relaxed his grip as the light flickered in the familiar windows. I rushed to the building and cautiously strutted under the windows.

Diana was there. And I desperately wanted to be with her.

I bowed in half again. To my horror, I realized that Diana was to blame for what was happening now.

Her silhouette emerged behind the curtain. She was in the kitchen.

A memory flashed in my head: we are in the kitchen. I'm placing Diana on the countertop and kissing her...

Seymour prevented me from admiring the vision.

"Let's go," he declared, yanking me out of the yard.

"Where?" I proceeded to gaze at the windows.

"To the vet, damn it!" he exclaimed abruptly. "Even I sense that the matter concerns your wolf."

Seymour raced as soon as we got in the car. Perhaps he worried that I might go back to the garden. He called Ragnar and informed him that we were on our way to his estate for an important matter.

I was always delighted to see Ragnar, but I desired to stay beneath those windows.

Seymour read my thoughts once again “Don’t you even dare! I won’t take my eyes off you.”

He sped up as soon as we left the town.

‘Maybe it's for the best...’ I thought while Seymour was gently pushing me towards Ragnar's mansion.

"What have you come with, spongers?" the mentor was smiling as he was pouring whisky into the glasses.

"Our baby is unwell," my friend said cynically, grabbing his glass of amber drink.

I refused to drink.

Ragnar gave me an inquisitive look as he settled in the armchair and gestured for Seymour to keep talking.

"Yesterday he broke in half right in the middle of the street and started to transform."

Ragnar set aside his whisky.

"Details?" he went serious.

Seymour ceased being ironic. "He caught smell and followed its path. The source of it was a girl. As soon as he spotted her, he bent and started to morph. I had to phone the doctor. "He sedated Daemon."

"Are you sure it's about the girl?" Ragnar stared at me.

I felt that my fever was back.

"Yes. We found her today. Daemon recognised her scent, and the same reaction followed. I believe something is wrong with his wolf, " Seymour replied instead of me.

Ragnar stood up and approached me. He loomed over me.

"How do you feel?"

I raised my eyes at him rather than responding.

"You want to see her..."

Ragnar knew everything.

I nodded. I was ready to cry from despair.

Ragnar returned to his whisky and started observing the highlights in his glass.

"So..." Seymour asked, shifting the focus from Ragnar to me. "What does it mean?"

Ragnar looked at me as he smiled.

"This means that Daemon has found his true mate."
