Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Blinking slowly, their vision was still blurry and mind not all there. Slowly remembered the most recent events. A Blinding light, falling and then a club. Finally thinking clearly. They tried to get up, but they then realized they were bound and gagged. Panicking they struggled against their bindings all pointless. They then looked around for anything, a blade a sharp rock, someone that can help. Until they saw a creature, it worn a ragged garb with scraps of armor haphazardly attached to parts of its body. Its skin was scaly with bright technicolor feather plumes that adorned its unarmored head. It had its back towards Ent, having its focus on looting a bag. Ent looked at the creature, maybe it was the reason for his bondage but even so. Why would it want him alive? Usually kobolds kill people rather than spare them.

Ent then tried to use magic in the hopes to escape his bondage. But that was shut down with a jot of pain coming from his hands and feet. So powerful he instantly lost focus and screamed through his gag, causing the creature to turn to him. The creature seemed to laugh at his failed attempt through its elongated snout before turning its back to him again, continuing to scavenge the rucksack. Soon enough off in the distance another group of kobolds appeared. It was a clutch of 15 of the waist sized things. They all seemed to be in good spirits clamoring with each other in their language of roars and snorts. Some of them seemed to be carrying saddle bags and a large stick that held the remains of a quartered animal. When the group met up with the loner they engaged in a conversation. Ent could not understand what words were being said between the 2 but he could guess it was relating to him. Eventually one of them went up to Ent and poked him making him flinch. That kobold then relayed a message with the group which made then growl and yap more.

Eventually there was a loud cry from one of the kobold’s holding up the Lockheed insignia. It looked like they were starting to panic seeing the insignia, making the once jolly clutch into one of anxious roars and wails. Eventually the one kobold that stayed with Ent made a loud roar and forced the rest of the clutch to quiet down and listen to the loner. Ent was bewildered to see this. Usually, kobolds are neither this communicative or even this socially advanced. He should know he’s taken out nests of these things, as they are a huge hazard for farmers, and even people that travel the countryside. They never displayed this kind of intelligence ever, all which made him extremely scared. Tensing up in the hope becoming still will make him invisible to them.

Eventually the group then started to calm down again after what appeared to agree with one another. They then take some horse tack and forced it onto Ent’s head. They then untied Ents ankles and forced him up with a series of aggressive yaps. Struggling to get up on his knees, he was able to stand be it weakly. Then they tied an amethyst jewel encrusted rope to Ent’s tack and started leading him. Due to their size and how closely they wanted him to follow Ent was always in an uncomfortable bow. They even took advantage of this and made him carry the heavy saddle bags on his arched back. This was going to be a long hike.

=================================================================================================================

Eventually after hours of hiking the group of kobolds stopped when the blue hued sun was midway to sunset. The clutch seemed to be starting to set up a temporary camp. With the distinct loner presumed the leader barking at the others to get supplies for their makeshift purple grass beds and making a fire out of the magic imbued wood. Ent was tied up away from the camp and fire, still bound from the waist up. He was not alone though there was at least one kobold that kept a close eye on him as the others worked. Every time Ent pulled a bit to hard on his bindings or kicked dirt at the kobold, it will start to roar at him and may even beat him with a stick. They left his with his breastplate, greaves, bracers, and his clothing on which helped defend against the beatings, but not too much as they knew to hit the unarmed parts.

Eventually it became night, and Ent did not get any sort of bedding or even food for that night. The kobolds on the other hand seemed to play games and eat together as they were all kin. At least from this distance it looks like it. Ent observed from a distance the perceived laughs and jokes that they all had as they ate the freshly cooked meat from the fire. He envied how they had the privilege to a warm fire on a warm night. Oh well, Ent thought. This was something as this was his first time being held captive ever. His captors not even being human added some more insult upon injury. But right now, is not the time to be upset. These kobolds need him alive or at least walking. But for what he can only guess.

Curling up for the night, Ent hated that after 4 years in a quiet seclusion. His first quest would bring him death or maybe even something worse. Cursing the fact that he was so gated about telling his own father about a dangerous quest. Cursing that maybe his own father would have helped him out. But then that will mean that he’s not this fated hero chosen by the gods. But then how would that blind codger have learned that type of magic. Surely, he must have gotten them by some sort of divine power, right? This little situation is just a bump in the road, a momentary hindrance. Surly the opportunity to escape will present itself. He thinks to himself till his comes to a dreamless sleep.

Morning came faster than expected, Ent spent most of the night thinking of a way to escape but no such thing happened. He could use his knife to cut his bindings, but he was watched the entire night by the kobold guards. While they thought that he could not see them Ent could see their aura through all the mana already in the air. These kobolds seemed to have absorbed a lot of this stuff as they stood out like a sore thumb. All the kobolds that woke up early started to make breakfast from last night’s leftovers and some of Ent’s remaining rations. Ent did not receive any food. But was given water. Leaving a small bucket of water for Ent to dunk his head in and drink through his cloth gag.

After painfully watching the Kobolds have a nice morning filled with playful yaps and banter, The kobolds packed up what little they took out and continued their way with Ent still being led by rope. Another morning of traveling now. Ent was starting to feel weak as his knees nearly buckled but gritting his teeth and clutching his fist he followed. Eventually the plants and fauna were now nearly unrecognizable with the amount of mana corruption this area had endured. The grass now as sharp as blades cutting into the soles of Ent’s boots. The trees themselves seemed to ooze a caustic purple substance and had eyes that stared directly at Ent with malice.

Soon the group then entered a clearing with a direct path ahead. Ent looking around saw that he was entering a sort of deforestation area as it had had most of the trees cut from their stumps, all oozing that same purple substance. There were also other Kobolds all also wearing loose rags as clothing, their clawed hands were covered purple by the looks of it, they harvest this substance using taps and even wetting rags to absorb the substance and wringing it over a bucket. Some of the kobolds from Ent’s group, called out to some of the other working. Waving and happily roaring out to the workers, they did the same before returning to work. The party then came to a wooden fort with the gate currently open. The kobold guards were fitted with wooden armor that fitted their reptilian body nicely. The leader then came out and exchanged roars with each other before they gave a nod and let everyone in. Giving a low growl as Ent passed by them.

With everyone now inside the fort Ent was escorted to a small cell still bound by the wrist but now tack and gaggles. Sitting cross-legged on a small purple straw bed. The guards gave Ent a bucket of water and a strange corn-based grain to eat from a bowl. The bucket also acted as his latrine when he was done drinking the water from it. Thinking on it, it could be a good time to escape from his bindings but now he was in completely alien territory and was surrounded by smart kobolds. Ent decided against it. choosing to take his chances as he silently waited in his wooden cell. Hoping that tomorrow will hold better times.

=================================================================================================================

3 days had passed when Ent was locked up in his cell. Outside he could tell the other kobolds were working in overtime. He could only wonder why as he does not have a view outside only the cracks in the walls and panicked roars gave him any kind of entertainment. But for the most part he kept himself busy by exercising and kicking a lone rock at the wall in a game to see how long he can keep kicking that rock before it hit the ground. His highest score was 33. He did spend a lot of time silently thinking about his family, wondering when they will notice something is wrong. He never gave a time frame of when he would be done, because he did not know how long this would take. Thinking on it he rationalized that they can be expected to know something wrong in about a month from now.

However, his train of thought was interrupted by 2 guards barking at Ent and tying him up again, not even bothering to gag him. Going outside he thought he’d never be happier to see the blue sun again though looking around he saw a strange sight. The fort was quiet, and all the kobolds all stood around in a neatly chalked circle that was now located in the center of the fort. All the kobolds stood outside of the circle and eyed Ent as he exited the prison building. The 2 guards then lead him to the center of the chalked circle and tied him up on a post in the middle.

Ent looked at the crowd as they stared back, all still and in silence. Eventually 1 kobold made its way past the crowd. It was adorned with brightly colored garb complete with a hat that was adorned with many technicolor feather plums all showing some age with the most youthful father front and center. It had a staff that was just as ornate as the hat, having technicolor stones that all glowed with power. It then pointed to Ent and spoke.

“You here bad for clan. You from dragon clan!”

the broken Terran language surprised Ent. He always thought they couldn’t speak even to this degree.

“What are you saying you beast?” Ent said looking at the highlighted Kobold.

“Me no beast. You beast. You come to kill us.”

“I am not the one who’s never had humanity to begin with.” Ent cried struggling with his bindings

“You too dodgy. You come from dragon clan.” The kobold then pointed at the Lockheed insignia now decorating the side of a building.

“Can’t risk you here. Need to erase you.”

“What do you mean by that? You’re going to erase me how? I’m a Lockheed! My family will come looking for me when they find out I’ve been gone for too long. Then when they find out I’m here they’ll surly slaughter you all. Or enslave you since you lot know more than your countryside brethren.”

“Aye that why you get erased from time!”

“You plan on erasing me from history?”

“Aye.”

Ent then gave out a very manic laugh. These creatures don’t know anything about chronomancy. This was very clearly a bluff.

“You expect me to believe that? You out of all the scholars, magus, and even ageless wizards, have somehow manage to discover the secrets to bending time.”

“Aye, you get erased like you never born, then we live peaceful again.”

“Peaceful? Your bunch attacked me as I was traveling. You are the war mongers not me.”

“We warned about bad dragon man coming. You have dragon with you, so you must be dragon man.”

“Wait, you were warned about me? By whom?”

“No important. Faster you erased better for clan.”

“Wait wa-“

Ent cried out trying to get an answer from the kobold. The leader ignored this and raised his staff in the air along with 3 other cloaked kobolds. All 4 of them started to yap and roar unison while the crowd stared in silence. The circle then started to draw in the magic from the area, taking the mana from the grass and trees giving them back to their somewhat natural colors. Soon the chanting kobolds eyes started to glow with arcane energy. And their very breath seemed to look like fire coming out of their mouths. Eventually they all stopped on one single loud roar and the last of the magic around the fort was used.

Suddenly the floor in the circle started to crumble falling into a spiraling void that was now absorbing the ground and slowly making its way from the edges towards the center. Ent realizing the weight of this situation struggled against his bindings but was unable to free himself. Biting at the encrusted rope to no avail. Even pulling so hard from his bindings that he dislocated his left shoulder trying to get out. But in the end his island was getting smaller and smaller till only a square foot remind.

Ent looked down into the spiraling void with awe but, eventually, his island gave way and he found himself falling into it. time seemed to slow down as he sees memories of his past flash in his eyes. His first memory of his mother and father smiling. Him playing alone as his parents argued about something at age 5. His brother tending to him after a small fight between the 2 of them at age 8. His first ever sword lessons with his mother at age 10. His father reading him tall tales of heroes of past. His first ever successful dungeon raid at the age of 13. His first party betrayal at the age of 17. The child spitting in his face and cursing his name at the age of 19. Finally, him secluding himself till the age of 23. The last thing Ent sees is the kobold leader grimly throwing in his helmet and sword before he is consumed in the void.

With the way sealed up. Ent heart sank. There was nothing he could really do at this point. The only thing that he could do was limply fall into the spiraling abyss. For about 10 seconds. Then the bottom opened allowing Ent to fall through. This caught him by surprised and he screamed as he exited the void, falling into a dark forest. Hitting tree branches on his way down, ripping his clothing and bruising his flesh as he tumbled through them. Thankfully they also helped to break his fall enough. Tumbling down onto the forest floor with a heavy thud.

Ent now on his back beaten and bruised, looked up to see a faint glint in the dusk sky. Instinctively he rolled away from his immediate area, for it was his sword. Piercing the ground with point of the blade burring itself into the earth. Ent breathed heavily at the sight. If he had lagged any longer, he would be dead now. Realizing the macabre thought Ent gave out a hearty laugh. But his laughter was cut short as he was knocked out hearing a loud *clang*.

=================================================================================================================

Waking up Ent still had his eyes close, but the sun was making it harder for Ent to keep his eyes now. Groaning and fluttering open his eyelids he found himself face first on the ground in the middle of a deciduous forest. His wrist still bound with the amethyst encrusted rope. Then heard sniffing on his right ear. Apparently, a lone bobcat decided to pay him a visit this morning scouting Ent to see if he’s edible or not. Ent not wanting to become this creature’s breakfast; screamed as loud as he can and flailed around. This caused the bobcat to flee in panic jumping into the underbrush as quickly as it can.

Now out of danger, Ent slowly sat up and looked around. Taking in his surroundings. This place wherever it is, is not Panax anymore. But on the bright side it’s not Panax anymore. Now Ent was now in the middle of nowhere. Alone in a forest an unknown distance away from the nearest town or even village. Looking up Ent can see the bright sun beaming though the green leaves warming his skin. He also felt dried blood crack on his cheek as he winced at the light hitting his eyes. Looking around again he saw his sword still embedded in the earth. Shuffling around he started sawing at the lashings using his sword. While cutting he saw what had knocked him out. His own helmet had hit him showing a notable dent in the once convex surface. A few moments passed and eventually the rope was cut finally releasing Ent from his bondage.

He rubbed his wrist noting how tender and raw they had become from the rough bindings. Trying to lift his left arm he had to stop due to pain. Ent got up with a grunt. He had to relocate his arm by himself. Thankfully he knows how to do this. Fights with his sisters usually ended like this. Ent then leaned forward letting his weight fall onto his left leg. Slowly he shifted his torso letting the arm hang off the side. Slowly moving his torso backwards, he felt a lot of tension and pain. But with a final grunt he felt a pop in his shoulder, and he let out pained groan. He lifted his arm up, the pain was gone for the most part. Ent then went to grab dented helmet and went to sit by the sword.

Taking a seat on the ground Ent looked at the helmet. As is, it won’t fit his head properly, but it can still have a use, or repaired. But as is right now, he wasn’t in the best condition to mend his gear. Remembering, Ent in a panic reached into his chest plate grasping at the amulet and then searching deeper in the cavity. Finally, he felt the familiar worn leather of his hidden pouch and pulled it out. Clearing the floor of loose leaves Ent poured the contents of the pouch onto the floor. Out came, 20 golden coins, 5 plumb sized charged mana stones. A letter and a straw fetish. Seeing the letter and doll Ent felt more at ease seeing the mementos. He reached for the letter and held it in his hands. It was addressed to him in somewhat crude handwriting no doubt little Isla Onderlured’s handwriting.

He went to unfold it but stopped himself. Wondering if now a time that can be considered his “wits end” this was the first time he has been transported into another forest. But if anything, this situation is just another setback. Just got to find a village and ask for directions. But now the question is where the nearest village. Replacing the contents back in the pouch Ent looked up at the tree line. Trying to spot any particularly tall trees he can use to scout the area. He spotted one not too far off about 5 stories high. All the rest of the trees looked to be around 2 or 3 stories. He got up and made his way to the tall and lean tree. His boot hitting the remains of the post along with a decent length of the encrusted rope.

Ent scavenged 2 yards of rope from the post and tossed the pole in the direction of his sword, it’ll come in handy later. With the rope in hand, he wrapped it around the trunk of the tree pulling on it to see if it will hold his weight. As much as it would be more convenient to jump up there using strength Ent was weakened and even if he could the fall back down would hurt. Climbing up with the rope was the best option. Giving the ropes a final tug, he slowly shimmied his ways up the tree trunk. slowly Ent made his way up the trunk making it past the branches of the other trees till he burst through finally on top of the forest roof.

Above Ent took in his surroundings. Now able to see further away with his eyes. But the only sights around were more trees for as far as the eye can see. Though looking at the topology, he noticed a ravine off in the east. It could be where water is flowing. Taking a mental note Ent descend the tree. Being mindful to take it safe and slow. His injuries were still healing. Reaching the ground Ent looped the rope strapping it on his torso, even though it can sap his magic it he can still use it as a regular rope. He then went back to his sword, pole, and helmet a few yards away. Grabbing the items, he made is way over to the ravine hoping to find some water.

After a short and uneventful hike. Ent made it to the crease in the earth. But there was no stream. Upset about the lack of water Ent decided to follow the ravine downhill from now. Keeping his ears keen and eyes on a swivel there could be anything in this place. Ent walked with his helmet on with the visor up, one hand armed with his sword, and wooden poll in the other using it as a walking stick. The sun was still high in the sky when Ent made it to the ravine. But every minute in a situation like this though could mean the difference between life and death. Ent had injuries from his fall, bruises mostly but he did have a few open wounds. They weren’t anything too serious and they had stop bleeding by themselves, but an open wound is still something to worry about. He’s read to many stories where someone in it died of infection because of a small cut.

Taking the ravine down was a smart call. It led to a small creek and Ent knew that this was fresh water and following it he will hopefully reach a river and in turn a village. Though right now he was a bit thirsty. Using his helmet as a bowl Ent quaffed the creek water. It had a bit of an earthy taste, but it was still water, and he was dehydrated from last night. walking along the creek for a while until he found a pond. The water from the creek was flowing into it and Ent could see some fishes deep under the surface. Off to the side there was a small clearing nearby, it also had an overgrown trail. This was a good sign. But before continuing Ent took the time to rest and watch as the fishes swim underneath the water.

They weren’t any kind of species of fish he could recognized. But they seemed peaceful, lazily using their fins to move themselves and root around in the peat for anything edible. They all were also unique in colors. Most of them were a high contrast of white and orange with few having black patches on them. They also had little antenna on their upper lip making them look wiser for a fish at least. Ent poked his finger into the pond water checking the temperature. It was a nice cool temperature, and by poking his finger in the other fish seemed to clamor around it. Either out of curiosity or to gently suck the finger to see if it was edible.

He chuckled every time one of the fish tried to eat his finger. But he had to get going and that path might be the way to salvation. Getting up Ent continued his way down the forgotten path. The 3-minute walk led him to a worn-down shrine seemingly forgotten by time. This shrine had an eastern theme to it most of its red paint now chipped away and faded revealing the rotting wood underneath. Its paper screens having ripped from time or a curious animal, and its surrounding statues now nothing but gray lumps of moss farms. Ent slid opened on of the decrepit doors revealing the inside to just be as bad as the outside along with a musty smell. The inside was modestly sized but bear aside from a fire pit in the middle and a statue to an unknown god in the back. Ent placed his 3 items near the fire pit and searched around of anything useful. But he was mesmerized by the stone figure, it was humanoid in nature, sitting cross-legged and naked aside from a simple loin cloth and a embroidered cloth mask. The mask itself seemed unremarkable but it did bare the markings of what looked to be a mouth in a sharp toothy grin, and 2 distinctive eyes. One having a broad X and the other circular.

Looking at its Ent felt anxious the longer he stared at it. Feeling that the longer he looked at it the more he felt as if he was intruding on this forgotten god’s lands. So instinctively Ent clapped his hands together and gave a slight bow.

“I apologize for intruding on your property nameless god. But I am cold, lost and hungry in lands I know nothing about. Please, allow me to use your shrine as a shelter, at least for a night.”

Ent remained in that bow until his anxiety was lifted. But he did not feel as though he could rest yet. Timidly he reached for his pouch, at least he can offer something for this neglected god. So, after rummaging in the pouch Ent took out the straw effigy. And neatly placed it at the very base of the sculpture. Doing so he felt a wave of acceptance from the shrine itself. Even thinking at one point he saw the statue grin just a bit more.

Ent had spent a few hours looking around the shrine for any usable pieces of firewood. Using his rope to bundle up the logs into a bindle for easier transportation. Eventually Ent had gotten enough sticks and logs to have a fire for the rest of the night now all that remains is food. Thinking back on the orange and white fish Ent decided to start there. Hiking back to the pond Ent saw the fish still lazily swimming in their underwater home. Ent thought about catching one of the fish. But the thought of hunting them even for food made him feel uncomfortable. These fish seemed to be accustomed to human contact and have even started to cluster around the water edge seemingly excited to see him.

Watching the fish Ent felt less inclined to eat them for food. But he needed something in his belly it had been a while since he had a proper meal. Thankfully fate seemed to smile upon him, before he got up he spotted a plump rabbit drinking at the ponds edge. It must not have noticed him as he was still while watching the fish. So, Ent kept his movements to a minimum as to not startle the furry critter. Feeling the ground, he felt a marble sized rock. “This will be good enough” He thought to himself, slowly he released magic into the stone imbuing it. Eventually he felt the stone had enough energy in it and slowly raised his hand. He had one shot otherwise it would be a waste of energy. Squinting with his arm raised Ent made sure his aim was true. Suddenly one of the fish jumped in the water causing the rabbit to flinch. Ent threw the magic embedded stone hearing it give out a high pitch crack and leaving a blue trail as it soared right into the rabbit’s cranium. The force behind the rock was enough to push it back a foot or 2 and it flailed around on the ground having its brain destroyed. Satisfied with the clean kill Ent went around the pond and picked up the rabbit corpse now motionless and bleeding from its head. Grabbing his ankle knife and went up the ravine a distance planning on harvesting the corpse for the meat and pelt.

Now with a dressed rabbit corpse Ent made his way back to the shrine. Finally happy he’s about to have a proper meal after a week of grain. Entering the shrine Ent set to work. Making tinder by scraping the wood with his sword by dragging it across the sticks. After that he snapped his fingers producing sparks and a small flame that emitted from his right thumb. Lighting fire to the tinder Ent watched carefully as the fire grew. Gently blowing on it making sure it had plenty of oxygen and fuel. In no time the once burning tinder was now a blazing fire. It cracked as it burned and warmed the interior of the shrine as well as giving light.

Using his knife, he got to work turning some of the sticks into skewers and using them to hold the raw rabbit in place as he cooked it over the fire. In no time the rabbit will be cooked and give Ent a filling meal and warmth for the coming night. Unfortunately, he did not have the time to make bedding out of the forest leaves, but the reed floor mats that adorned the floors of the shrine still were in good condition, and the fire will keep him warm from the cold night. From time-to-time Ent would flip the cooking corpse making sure it was evenly cooked and more importantly fully cooked. Eating wild game raw can lead to a stomach problem if not properly cooked. In time Ent poked at the cooking flesh with his knife. Looking at it closely he felt it was ready to be eaten. Taking a bite, it was delicious and well done. Ent quickly engorged himself with the rabbit but not before leaving one cooked leg untouched that will be an offering to the statue.

Now with a full stomach and a warm fire Ent decided to lay down. Making sure to pile more wood for the night. Laying on his back Ent’s thoughts began to wonder. Why did those kobolds want to live in peace? They were usually a primal race but seeing them with such sophistication was very odd. There was also the fact that someone had warn them about him specifically. Who in the right mind would assist those creatures? What would they have to gain from it? What was the spell that they used on him? Maybe they mistook a passage ritual for a chronomancy spell? Many what if’s and how’s and why’s filled his mind until his family came to mind. He felt sad having remembered them, but he did not know why. Then he took out the amulet and felt comfort holding it. Looking into the spiral pattern especially at the still glowing gem he had a little hope. His mother metaphorically was still with him and holding that amulet he could feel her almost as if she was sitting right next to him.

Eventually his thoughts became blurry as drowsiness set in. Curling up close to the fire Ent silently went to sleep, amulet still in hand.

=================================================================================================================

Ent had another dreamless night, nothing but being inside a black void and then waking up to the sun peering through the rips of the paper screen walls and doors. Rubbing his eyes in his sleeping spot he was still tired but at least somewhat rested. Stretching his limbs Ent got up while giving out a long yawn. Scratching his head on what to do now he felt flakes coming off his hair. Looking at his hand now he realized the flakes was dried blood in his hair. He had not really had a bath in a couple of days. But there was a pond not too far off. Ent went over to the statue seeing it there still in is cross-legged pose. but saw that the rabbit leg was gone along with the fetish. Looking around Ent concluded a fox must have come by and grabbed them and ran off.

Ent then looked at his clothing he would not be in a presentable condition. In fact, some people may think he’s a grave robber with the current garb he has now. Deciding to at least smell presentable, Ent made his way towards the pond. Getting there he stripped off his stained and ripped green tunic, and his brown breeches. He left his boots off in the sun along with his socks. Now nude he walked into the pond along with his cloths bundled together. The pond was as deep as his waist and as pleasantly cool as it was yesterday. Ent then got to work with his clothing first rubbing them together under the water and the slapping them against a large rock that was beside the creek. The fish in the pond did not seem to mind his presence as they swam around his legs even gently sucking random parts of his submerged body which tickled him. He used the sand at the bottom of the pond to help scrape off any dirt and grime from his body. Being careful around his open wounds. But it did seem that the fish focused their efforts on his scratches and healing brushes. Being gentle while cleaning them. Eventually he was as clean as he could be and decided to relax near the pond using the sun and wind to dry off.

Ent sat on the green grass in a sunny spot ready to relax and dry off. Looking at his wounds they seemed cleaner and healthier if that was a thing. Those fish might be an asset, as they seemed to be talented at cleaning injuries. Happy with how they are healing he then fully laid down on the grass. Looking up at the sky. There wasn’t much up there, other than the bright sun and a cloud here and there in their usually amorphous form. But there was something up there that he could barely make out. It was too far up to full make out but there was a little dot in the sky. Thinking on what it could be. He thought it was a dragon. But the last dragon was killed by the Lockheed family. Were they resurrected? Or was it some sort of faux dragon? Or was it even a dragon at all?

Thoughts rushed through his head as he tried to rationalize what he is seeing. But all he could think of was a dragon there was no other way. Rocs had been hunted by the Talonhand, and the last one alive is in their care, and even then, it was not fit to fly anymore. He remembered seeing its feathers clipped so that they could keep a closer eye on it. Plus, they don’t grow as big a dragon anyway. His thoughts were more consumed with dragon. Maybe this unknown land was where the last dragons reside. If that was the case Ent will have to tell this to his family. Maybe with these new dragons he can finally undue his stunted growth. That would also mean that they could have another family beast, meaning that they won’t be under such scrutiny anymore. Ent then leapt up from his spot and quickly got clothed. He had to find out where this dragon was going.

Now primed with determination Ent put back on his cloths and armor. Eyes fixed on where the dragon is going.
