Chapter 1 Class: Leader

Chapter 1 Class: Leader

The sun beamed upon a valley. It was a rather beautiful one, with a variety of flora and fauna. The sun had just seemed to touch the horizon, as a small breeze of wind blew through some trees, the leaves spinning around as they passed by.

A lone boy lay upon the grass, seeming to have woken up. Getting up, he felt the cold touches of dew that had made contact with his clothes, hair, and skin while he was asleep. His hand brushed through his hair as a window appeared in front of him.

Would you like to accept the quest Titled: Humble Beginnings?

The boy having a bit of curiosity ignored the decline button, as he tapped the accept button. The button glowed green for a minute before the window vanished. The boy tripped backward as he land on his butt, confused by the sudden arrows beginning to appear in his sight.

Getting back up, he pats himself, before rubbing his eyes. The white outlined arrows were still there, so he decided best to just follow them. Pushing branches away, or avoiding thorns from beautiful flowers, the boy continued to pass through the forest as he followed the arrows he saw.

***

The sun was at its highest point by when the boy stopped walking. The boy looks at the clearing around him, only a small well, being in the clearing. A golden chalice resided on one of the bricks of the well, its metallic color shining as the sunlight hit it.

The arrows now gone, the boy questioned himself as to why he was led here. The boy felt rather parched, once finished looking around the well. With the nice convenience of a chalice and a well, the boy dipped the cup into the water. A swish could be heard as the water fell into the cup.

The boy lifted the chalice, put it to his lips as he drank the water. The boy's body felt rather heavy, as though all his strength had been taken from him. He dropped the chalice, it falling into the water, as he knelt. A large flag appeared above his head, before ceasing to exist.

Shortly after, a large window appeared before the boy it stating:

An exit button could also be seen in the top right corner of the window, the boy pressing it as he watched the window vanish. As if understanding now, how to pull up the status window he brought the window back up once more before closing it.

The boy standing up heard a loud rumble, which came from his stomach. A blue window once again popped up, but with a different reason behind it.

Would you like to do your daily quest? It read as the boy hit the green accept button.

Forage enough food to satiate your hunger.

The boy closed the window, as he went in search of food.

***

The sun was beginning to make its descent, as the boy looked at the bushes. Berries could be seen growing upon some of the bushes, in many colors some being red with seeds all over them, and others just being small and blue.

The boy still hungry, began to pick the berries, as he ate one after another. His hunger began to fade, each berry having a different taste, some sweet, sour, or even a few bitter. Shortly after the daily quest window popped up once more, stating:

The daily quest has been completed, your rewards will be here tomorrow near the Well of Opportunities.

The boy closing the window, shortly after had a status window pop up, which said:

Lvl.1 Foraging has been acquired!

The window disappeared by itself as the boy walked began to walk back, the grass hitting the ground when the boy stepped on it. The tall grass, began to slowly get shorter, as the boy got closer to the well.

***

The boy sat against the well, its cold, smooth, stone surface touching the clothes on his back. The boy gazed at the stars, some shining brighter than others, whilst the moon shone brighter. He reached his hand out at the moon, as he pondered why he was there.

***

The sun began to glow, as it started to rise above the valley. The boy rubbing his eyes, turned a little before he opened his eyes. Getting up, he stretched as he looked around the clearing. A sack lie against the well, it was almost full to the brim of miscellaneous things. Asides from that, stone bricks lay surrounded the Well of Opportunities, in the ground.

The boy untying the sack pulled out, all that was in it and lay them upon the stone bricks that now surrounded the Well of Opportunities. Multiple pairs of clothes, a flint, a large rock, and a golden chalice now lay upon the stone brick flooring. A window soon after popped up, asking:

Would you like to do the daily quest?

The boy hit the accept button, as the quest was now revealed.

Make a circle surrounded by large stones.

Gather wood and place it within the circle.

Light the fire, with any means necessary.

Closing the quest window, the boy began to do said tasks he looked around for large rocks. The occasional twig would snap as the boy continued to walk, birds chirping and flying by as the boy grabbed a  stone and put it in the sack.

***

The boy aligned the stones into a circular way, before tossing some sticks and branches he had gathered into the fire. He walked back over to the leftover things he had gotten from the sack, and looked at the flint and rock. Waving the flint around he attempted for this "fire" to appear. He frowned at the failure and figured that these rocks were useless. He walked over to the unlit campfire, thinking maybe the stones were to be burnt.

As he got near the fire, he tripped on a stone launching the flint out of his hand scraping one of the rocks, that had a bit of iron ore in it surrounding the wood. A small spark lit the now darkened sky, as the flint bounced back into the boy's hand by luck. He yelped in pain, as the rock felt hot dropping it, before picking it back up.

The boy now understanding what he needed to do, walked over to the small campfire and repeated what he had seen previously.  A scraping sound could be heard once more before the clearing was illuminated by the fire. The boy sat down against the Well of Opportunities, once again as he looked at the beautiful fire. A window popped up, the boy looked at it as he stretched while sitting.

The daily quest has been complete! Your rewards will be delivered tomorrow!

After the window vanished, another one popped up shortly after.

Tip:

If a new person is summoned, in your area you could persuade them to join your party.

When the party limit is reached, if the party leader has the Leader class, it can turn into a village, then later a city, and so forth.

The boy closed the tip window, gazed upon the stars, then the fire before closing his eyes.

***

The sun's ascension upon the world began, as the light began to beam down upon the valley. Birds could be heard singing their usual tunes, and squirrels could be seen gathering food for their day-to-day lives, one scavenging around the tall grass for nuts or acorns.

The boy turned to his side, his face hitting the grass, before beginning to wake up. Wiping his face with his sleeve, the boy got up as he looked around. A new sack resided near the Well of Opportunities, unlike the previous one having only forageable berries in it.

***

His stomach rumbling, the boy grabbed a handful of berries as he began to eat them. He enjoyed the quiet in the valley and the little breezes that blew by him occasionally. Having no daily quest pop up, he figured he'd do as he want today, as he began to laze around and look at the clouds.

Leaves continued to rustle, with the occasional breeze as the sun smiled down upon the trees. The boy getting up, gazed at the well wondering what happened to the chalice he accidentally dropped in it. Asides from that, he was befuddled by how the well water had risen, just like it had done previously for the boy when he drank from it.

A snap could be heard coming from the forest. The boy sensing something bad might happen, jumped into a bush as he hid there. A girl wandered upon the well and looked around at the small place. She crouched down, looking at the golden chalice that was still sitting upon a stone brick near the Well of Opportunities.

The boy pushed through the branches, as he looked at the girl. The girl noticing the boy jumped back, as she looked at the boy.

"W-who are you, and what are you doing there?!" the girl exclaimed, surprised.

"I heard something, so I jumped in a bush to hide," replied the boy sighing.

"What are you doing here?" the boy asked, as he got up and walked over to the well.

"T-that's none of your business!" the girl said, louder than she meant to.

The boy sighed before he looked back at the girl. Before much more could be said, a rumbling sound was heard as the girl blushed.

"Eat some of the berries in there," the boy pointed to the sack, as he picked up the golden chalice. The water cried with a swish, as it went into the chalice.

"Drink this when you're ready, my guess is you don't understand quests," the boy said acting as if he knew a little more than he did, "This may help explain things a bit better."

"Thanks, but I won't owe you anything for this," the girl said as she ate. Shortly after, the girl stopped, as she grabbed the golden chalice and drank all the water from it.

"Oh, I forgot, you may feel tired for a minute," the boy said as he took the chalice from her.

"W-what's happening to me!" the girl questioned as she couldn't move much.

"Your class is being selected," the boy said as he tossed the golden chalice into the water. Shortly after, the girl had bubbles appear above her head before they vanished.

"What's your name?"  asked the boy, as a window appeared in front of the girl.

"Leone," the girl replied before asking, "But what's it to you!"

"Well, Leone, want to join my party?" the boy asked.
