“Peace never last forever no matter how good times are there will always be another battle to fight!” Hamund tells Thorkell as they lay on the bed of the beat up truck that Hamund used to scare away any creature that would ravage through his crops. “Even Asgard is not safe from conflict.”

Thorkell punches his father and replies “That’s not true, Asgard is under protection of Woden and the mighty Thor.”

“Even Woden cannot prevent Ragnarök no matter how hard he tries it’s an inevitability.”

Thorkell gives his father a look of disappointment and mutters “I think he has the strength to rewrite his fate!”

Hamund smiles and goes to reply but before he could a loud bang can be heard Echoing through the field behind him followed by a large gust of wind strong enough to crack the glass on his truck. Hamund quickly drags Throkell down shoving him into the bed of the truck and begins to look around surveying the field. As he scans over the golden field of wheat he noticed a large ball of fire shining through the expansive wall of trees and hills. Hamund jumps out of the bed of his truck and jumps into the cab and begins frantically rummaging through. As he opens his glove compartment, he sees his old snub nose steel five shot revolver. As Hamund grabs the rubber coated handle of the revolver he feels the cold steel of the gun and his hands begin to tremble. Once he places his finger over the trigger well he felt a calling to the weapon. Hamund rocks the cylinder open on the revolver and counts the rounds inside. The revolver held four copper casings with the primers still intact. Hamund slams the cylinder back into the gun and rushes back to Thorkell who is trying to hold in tears as he hides in the bed of the truck.

“Stay here son, I will have someone return for you once things are clear.” Hamund ordered as he placed his hand on Thorkells should before sprinting through the field towards the now fading fire.

Hamund found himself breathing heavily as he reached the tree line but even through his exhaustion, he could hear a loud barking sound coming from the flames. He drops his body to a low crawling position as he passes through the trees and calls out “Anyone out there?”

Hamund got no response, but the barking sounds began to increase in both volume and frequency. As Hamund approached the noise he noticed a group of four giants that wore black armored suits with crowned helmets resembling that of the god Surtr. The beings spoke is a dialect that was inaudible to Hamund and moved with heavy feet as if they were made of stone.

Hamund crawled to the left side of the giants hoping to stay hidden and get past them without being spotted. As he slowly side stepped around them, he counted in his head “One, two, Three, four...” repeatedly and every fourth step he would stop allowing the air to still around him and taking a pause to observe his surroundings.

Hamund can see bodies of people at the feet of the giants, the bodies were burnt to a crisp and in some cases had seem to be torn in half with portions of their bodies completely missing. Hamund went to turn around to return to his son but before he could he heard a sound coming from the giants that was familiar to him. The giants could be heard laughing as they stomped on the bodies of the dead and ripping limbs from the corpses.

Hamund feels burning rage building inside him so hot that the nearby flames began to feel like a cold breeze. As he gripped his Hammer he was as a necklace and begged Thor to look after his son.

Hamund lifts himself off the ground and raises his revolver to aim at the closest giant before he pulls the hammer on the revolver down and fires a round into its back. The round deflects of the giants armor as the giants turn to face Hamund.

Hamund just laughs as he drops his arm back to his side and realizes that he may have made a mistake he says through a large sigh “Well I really don’t know how I expected that to go.”

The lead giant now towers over Hamund and grabs Hamunds right arm. The giant turns to face his allies as he laughs at Hamund. Hamund begins to laugh with him as the giant's armor begins to burn his arm. Hamund feels a sharp pain follow by the sound of a thud at his feet before the giant kicks him to the ground. As Hamund hits the ground he goes to stand but quickly notices his right hand is now replaced by singe marks and the revolver he carried is not resting at the feet of the beast. Hamund quickly turns and crawls to his feet before stumbling through the woods line as his vision quickly fades in and out. Hamund stumbles into tree after tree before reaching the field where his son hid.

Hamund shouts out in pain “Boy! Run and warn Admadra!”

As Hamund watches his son run away he is thrown through the woods by one of the giants. Hamund collides with one of the trees and watches as the giants approach him and he is stuck laying on the ground bleeding and unable to move.
