In Royal Road, the continent of Versailles was a vast place full of unknowns and mysteries.
From a native’s perspective, the Freedmen, or players, as they called themselves, could be considered one of these mysteries.
On the surface, players appeared the same as any other native. They fought like natives, they ate like them, and often had the same tastes as natives in various other areas. However, they were completely different from natives.
To put it simply, players were immortal.
Sometime after being killed, they would be resurrected by the blessings of the Holy Seer.
And they were not unified. They waged wars even against each other and fought and stole and killed to get what they wanted. Completely taking their gift of immortally for granted and discarding the sacrifices that had to be made from those who did not share their gift of immortality.
Thus, it could be concluded that a large portion of players were boring. Giving into with mundane desires, wanting nothing more than to do boring things. These ones were no more interesting than animals in a zoo.
However there were always some interesting ones.
There were a few that stalked as lone wolves. Powerful but alone.
A few became the centre of large groups, finding strength in numbers. Ambitious but predictable.
And there a handful of players who became absolute monsters. Feared and uncontrollable.
For example, a certain individual who joined to the ranks of the Overlords.
Overlord. This was a title which could not be bestowed but only earned.
Only by destroying one of God’s proxies, the Divine Saints and Divine Saint Knights, whilst causing mass destruction could this position be gained.
In terms of combat power, this individual had reached a stage where it wouldn’t be impossible to to win against even major gods. Considering the fact that the Overlords themselves were Heretic Gods who rebelled against their peers, this was to be expected.
Recently, this individual gained the recognition of the Divine Overlord: The Fighter, thus increasing the number of powerful(and uncontrollable) powers in his arsenal.
More amazing than this individual’s combat ability was his ability to attract powerful supporters and allies.
Out of the current 5 awakened Divine Saint Variants, this individual had high familiarity with 4. Additionally, this individual has strong relationship with the Elemental Lord Candidate of Light and a number of notable supporters in both the mortal and divine realms.
A person blessed with the fortune of meeting those with low encounter rates (be it friends or foes).
If a flaw had to be named, this individual could be said to be very hypocritical. Always insisting to be a pacifist whilst pouring oil into the fires of conflict wherever he went.

Certainly an interesting individual.
Another example was a certain individual who first appeared at roughly the same time this Overlord.
The Destroyer. A being that is the polar opposite of Gods and their greatest and only Bane.
While it is still mostly unknown how one becomes a Destroyer, they appear almost without any reason. But it is said the first Destroyer, the original Betrayer to the Gods chooses the next one to arise.
Their powers and abilities seem to be completely different from each other. Some become great warriors, some become great wizards while others become something you cannot describe if you are sane.
Even the weakest of them are threats to Gods.
And as such they are fated to be feared by all, enemy to whole Kingdoms that usher under the protection of Gods.
But they are forgotten monsters that were left in the dark of history. Of those who remain, only one recently awakened one remains active in the world, bringing only destruction and chaos where they walk. With great (mis)fortune, he had been chosen to bear the curse of such a fate.
Recently it has been known to the Gods that the Destroyer had been in contact with the Dragon Kin, becoming one of them. Weakened but yet strengthened, the threat slowly grows before the eyes of the fearful Gods.
A person blessed/cursed with (mis)fortune of meeting legends and myths on occasions, though they all tried to kill him/her/it.
If a flaw had to be named, then this individual could be said to be very unlucky. Always facing foes that are able to kill it with ease and followed by two troublemakers that seem to always make things worse.
Another interesting individual in his own right.
The Destroyer and The Overlord.
Two ominous sounding titles.
Both of these existences caused unparalleled destruction and chaos wherever they went.
Both of these existences held powers which should not belong to any mortal.
So what would happen if the paths of these two were to be crossed?
A rather troublesome incident occurred when a certain God of Chaos stumbled across this very thought.
