Xeri

Killing intent fills the air.

The Ferals know if they face Kilmen head on they will die. They may not be the most intelligent creatures, but they are not suicidal.

Kilmen aims with both hands and a firm grip, perfect form. aiming on one of the ferals' heads.

2 of the ferals begin to sprint away, they try to flee for their lives. The remaining one tries to take Kilmen head on with it's 4 long claws each as sharp as knives on each hand, they are about 8 inches long but only around 2-3 inches thick.

The feral is fast and one of the razor sharp claws catches Kilmen in the ribs, almost slicing him in half. Kilmen grabs the feral putting it in an almost headlock from the side.

Kilmen puts his gun so close to its head that it was more of a small pop than a gunshot. He drops the ferals body and stands up looking in the direction they went.

‘If I don’t catch up to them and kill them they will end up killing someone else’ Kilmen thought to himself as he holstered his gun. Kilmen plants his feet and prepares to run as fast as he can to catch up.

Kilmen puts forth all the strength he could into his legs, getting ready for the fastest dash he has ever done, and pushes off in a sprint.

As if looking out a window of a moving car it was a blur, but it wasn’t fast; it was all slow.

He caught up to them in a flash, he put his hand out to catch one but his hand went straight through the back of it’s head killing it instantly. This was due to how fast he was going combined with Kilmen’s strength.

Fear filled the remaining feral, it stopped and seemed to cower in fear at Kilmen, almost like it was begging for it's life.

‘No remorse, no hesitation, no pity’ Kilmen thought to himself as he walked over to the feral unholstering his 1911 and clicking the hammer back.

Kilmen puts a bullet in it's head without hesitation. He then calmly drops the mag out of the 1911 and puts a new one in.

Kilmen checks the chamber, then slides the gun back into the holster as the Xera covers his wounds to heal them.

Kilmen begins to walk back to the house, the moon shining over the dark gloomy forest.

As Kilmen is about to walk away when he hears that same hiss.

As he turns around he sees the first feral he killed. It’s body starts to shake, a small amount of Xera covers the hole in it's head healing it. It was no longer dead.

Kilmen reacts quickly drawing his 1911, walking toward the now revived creature. Kilmen clicks the hammer back and begins to fire at the creature with 100% accuracy, 7 rounds into its chest, then he puts the last bullet into the feral’s head. The slide of the 1911 locks back, the gun barrel smoking, hot to the touch.

The feral's heavy body hits the ground with a thud, it’s blood painting the grass blue.

Kilmen drops the empty mag out and slides in a new one. He hits the slide release, the slide sending a new round into the chamber.

A few seconds later all the other ferals, except the one missing it’s head and the one with 8 holes in it, all stand back up and begin to flee.

Kilmen was caught off guard thinking they were gonna try and fight him, but unfortunately they escaped into the night, out to find weaker prey to consume so they could recover.

As Kilmen is standing there looking at the poor woman’s torn apart body.

‘I hope Claire is ok, and our babies too.’ Kilmen thinks to himself.

Kilmen feels a heavy impact tear through the back of his right shoulder. Kilmen watches the round fly out of him and topple into a tree that was in front of him, blowing a huge chunk out of the tree. Kilmen thinks nothing of it, thinking he will heal. He turns to look around, as he does a sharp pain hits his whole body bringing him to the ground.

Kilmen scans the tree line for the shooter, as he looks left and right with no one in sight.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Kilmen knows this shooter is still watching him, but he doesn't know where. There was no gunshot or sound that he could hear even with his now improved hearing.

Suddenly she stood before him, an advanced sniper rifle slung over her shoulder, her hand on the stock. The weapon didn’t look like anything that he had ever seen before, almost like it was made of a crystal. It was long and dark like obsidian in some parts with a light blue glow.

Short blue jeans, and a black hoodie, with curly red hair, high top sneakers and a nose piercing on the left side of her nose.

Kilmen is astonished, not even he could see her movements.

‘She’s fast.’ Kilmen thought to himself.

Kilmen quickly goes for his gun, but the heel of the woman hits Kilmen right in the face, the fastest spinning heel kick he had ever seen in his life.

The impact sends Kilmen flying into a tree.

She speaks

“What? Did you think you were special?”

Kilmen stands up holding his injured shoulder, the woman sets the large rifle down against the tree.

She speaks again this time in a surprised tone, almost like she didn’t expect him to still be alive.

“Not many men out there that could live through a kick of mine, I’m impressed”

Kilmen responded in a calm tone.

“Who are you, what do you want?”

She spoke back quickly in a sarcastic and irritated tone.

“To kill you obviously, I’m not here to talk.”

Xera finished healing Kilmen’s shoulder. Kilmen goes for his 1911, he got the draw off, but by the time Kilmen had his sight on her, her and the rifle was gone.

‘Behind’ Kilmen thought to himself.

Before he could speak or even move she was standing behind Kilmen with her rifle aimed at the back of his head.

The Xera flowed out of her palms into her rifle, powering it. All the xera flowed to the chamber of the rifle, creating a bullet. The thin xera then crystalized, she then used her xera to send the crystalized xera though Kilmen’s head at over 200 m/s.

Kilmen’s head missing, blue blood sprayed out.

His body hits the ground with a thud.

The woman flinging her rifle back over her shoulder with a sigh then she speaks in a sad tone.

“I thought he was gonna be more fun.”

Kilmen’s blood stains the dirt.

A massive amount of Xera swirls around Kilmen’s body, bringing him to his feet, his head being rebuilt layer by layer.

The woman goes for another head kick to try and put him back down, but somehow he is faster than before.

He catches her foot, grabbing her by the ankle; he throws the woman though a nearby tree.

She quickly tries to get back to her rifle, but Kilmen was already standing next to it. He kicks her in the face sending her jaw flying off her face, blood sprayed across the forest.

Kilmen finally speaks with hate in his voice.

“Traitor”

Kilmen calmly reaches down and picks a strange flower.

Kilmen speaks in a calm tone.

“I have to thank you for sending me Into the abyss, I learned a lot while I was away”

The woman is confused.

‘The abyss?’ She thinks to herself.

“The shadow tells me things there. Like for instance these flowers, Xeri flowers are what the Xerankari call them. You know they only grow on planets that the Xerankari has invaded, to humans they are as deadly as any human poison, but to us well, I think you know.”

Kilmen puts the entire flower in his mouth.

Xera fills the air surrounding Kilmen. He holds his right hand out, the Xera swirls into a long shape, slowly forming a black straight bladed katana in a black sheath.

Kilmen slowly unsheathed the blade. A gold edge on the blade with an almost vein like black pattern down the silver blade.

It has engraved writing all down the blade in the Xerankari’s language, almost like mad scribblings.

Kilmen knew the meanings to the words but he couldn’t speak them, they were on the tip of his tongue and at the back of his mind

Xera filled the blade turning it almost black.

Kilmen swings the sword with little effort, slicing a large tree in two.

Xera swirled around the woman's mouth healing her jaw.

‘This guy is bad news, if I don’t flee now he will kill me.’ She thinks to herself.

The two looked at each other knowing one must die, for the other to live.

A battle to the death between monsters.

A screech echoed throughout the dark forest, sending chills up both their spines, ending their stare down.

“Reapers…”

The women said in fear.
