Ah! So glad you can make it,
Let me grab a chair, so you can be seated,
I’ve got so much to say, so much to do,
And I’m hoping I can do them with you.
‘What’s with the rhyming?’ you may rightfully ask.
Well, what I’m trying to show is a gargantuan task.
So, as you have it, I decided to be in my comfort zone,
And that happened to be practising poetry alone.
But not this time, I said to myself, I’ll have you know,
As I hope to reap the rewards of the seeds that I sow,
From the words that I utter, I hope to convey,
Three little words that I wanted to say.
I’m rambling too much? Oh, I’m so sorry.
I don’t mean to cause any trouble or worry.
Guess the rhymes aren’t quite on it.
Maybe I ought to try a haiku, limerick or a sonnet?
You want me to speak normally? No, I’m not ready for that.
What I’m trying to do is too difficult for a chat.

Here’s hoping that my next poem works for you,
I think it could if it’s a haiku:
*Ahem*
Now my heart flutters,
Oh, what joy to be with you,
My wish is for more.
So? How was it? Oh. You look confused.
I guess haikus can do that to you.
I’ll cross that out, do what’s left.
I’m sure the limerick will have a greater effect.
Eh. Talk like I used to?
If I can, I would do.
So, can I continue with the limerick?
Thanks. Sorry for being such a prick.
*ahem*
I enjoy all things that we do,
I have thousand thing I want to say to you,
But it’s just three words I want to say,
Hopefully I can say them one day,
I dream that you feel the same way too.
You don’t look that happy.
Was I being too dull; too sappy?
Oh. Why am I using poetry? Why am I acting so odd?
Er. What I’m trying to say is that we’re two peas of a pod.
Since that didn’t work, I will go for the sonnet.
This is my final-
Wait! Where are you going? Ok fine. I’ll stop with poems. I’ll stop with the rhymes. I’ll stop with the haikus. I’ll stop with the limericks. I’ll stop with the sonnets. I won’t use Shakespeare. I won’t sing your favourite band’s song. I won’t narrate a piece of prose. I won’t –
Just get the point? Alright. I can do that.
Look. I’ve known you since forever. We’ve played together, we’ve laughed together, we’ve cried together. Over that time, I grew more and more and more and – ugh. I’m rambling again. This is tough. I’ll start again.
Alright. Alright. No poetry. But basically, over the time I have spent with you, I have gotten increasingly fond of-
Now, you don’t have to give me an answer now. Take as much time as you want; I can't ask for more after you've waited so patiently for me. But essentially, the three words I wanted to say is that, well:
I love you.
