Tiberius slumped in his chair, with one leg crossed over the over. He held his chin and stared at the wall with a bored expression. Jacile had taken him here before beginning the opening ceremony, and told him to ‘sit tight for a bit’.
The room he was in, b15, was similar to any other classroom he had been in from Earth. The only difference was that this classroom featured some kind of magical display instead of a chalkboard or whiteboard. This display was emitted from a small blue stone, the same size as that rose diamond stone that Jacile had given him.
The display was slightly transparent and blue, like a star wars hologram except it was much clearer and more vivid. As to what it was displaying, it was a simple letter titled “Welcome!”. Tiberius skimmed through it rather quickly, but to summarize, it basically stated five important points.
One, this was their homeroom. At the start and end of every day, they would report to this class for an hour to plan the rest of their day, get private tutoring, or do anything else they might need.
Two, Your homeroom class would participate in various competitions as a team, but Tiberius didn’t know what “competitions” entailed so he ignored it.
Three, classes are structured in two-hour periods. Students have up to three classes a day, an eight-hour day at max. Most classes take only one semester to complete, meaning during the second semester, most kids would be changing classes. Some classes take two semesters to complete. You will receive your schedule from your first day of homeroom.
Four, usage of level 2 magic and above is only allowed in specific classes, during competitions, or if you are given express permission by a person at or exceeding the rank of Officer. Any usage of magic level 2 and above outside of these conditions will result in strict punishment. Tiberius thought that ‘punishment’ was quite vague, but he wasn’t interested in breaking the rules anyway.
Five, students who live on campus are split into two different dormitories, each separated by gender. If a student is caught inside the dorm belonging to the opposite gender after nightfall, this will result in strict punishment.
That fifth rule made Tiberius raise an eyebrow, but even in another world, some things just don’t change. Tiberius got the general gist of what these rules meant, but a lot of the finer details were lost to him. For instance, he had no idea that magic had different levels, or what exactly ‘competition’ meant. Tiberius imagined a bunch of people in robes casting spells at each other, harry potter style.
While Tiberius delved deep into such mental fantasies, someone else arrived at b15. Tiberius turned his head at the sudden sound and saw a girl standing at the door. She looked to be about five and a half feet tall, with dark curly black hair that fell to the bottom ends of her shoulders. Her nose was small and rounded. Her jawline was soft. She had striking purple eyes, and below those, she had a slightly freckled complexion.
Tiberius clenched his right hand over that rose diamond that Jacile had given him and focused on the feeling of wanting to be heard. As Tiberius channeled his desire to communicate with another intelligent being, the rose diamond glowed and responded to his wish. Once Tiberius felt that warm sensation of charity magic taking its effect, he raised his hand in an informal type of greeting.
“Sup’, nice to meet you. My name’s Tiberius, but most people call me Tib.”
The girl stared at him for a second before responding courteously. Her ascent was similar to a posh British one, but her intonation was slower than the average British accent. She stumbled over her words at first but quickly recovered.
“M-my name is Daiyu Yang. It’s very nice to meet your acquaintance, Tiberius.”
She’s probably nervous. I hope I’m not ugly to people in this world.
Tiberius was slightly off-put by how what she was saying didn’t match her lips, but that was magic for you. He heard her loud and clear as if she was speaking English, and not that gibberish that Wisdom and the maid spoke at first. As Daiyu took her seat, Tiberius returned his gaze to the door, where a familiar face walked into the classroom.
With a small pair of glasses and hair tied into a ponytail, Jacile walked into the room and sat down at his desk before letting out a sigh. Then, he laughed with pressing his thumb and index finger against the bridge of his nose.
“Honestly, I expected the first day of school to be hectic but this is just ridiculous.”
Tiberius rubbed the back of his head self consciously.
“Guess I didn’t make it that much easier, did I?”
Jacile laughed again and waved off Tiberius’s comment.
“Nonsense, I’m just a whiny old man. If I can’t handle one rapscallion I would have retired from teaching already.”
Daiyu had a curious expression but said nothing. Jacile noticed this and promptly introduced himself with a smile.
“Nice to meet you! My name is Jacile Neyo, but you already knew that from this morning’s opening ceremony. I am your personal high mage and your homeroom teacher. Please, confide in me if you ever have any questions.”
Daiyu nodded and spoke in a quiet and polite voice.
“It’s very nice to meet you Professor Jacile. Your speech was very encouraging.”
Jacile leaned back in his chair.
“Thank you, dear. I feel that a large portion of students need to have more confidence in themselves.”
Two more people trickled into the door, one guy and one girl. The guy had short, blonde hair that was facing upwards, and likely held up by some kind of gel. He had a pair of baby blue eyes, and sharp eyebrows. His chin was slightly wide, but not enough for it to be ugly. In short, he was a pretty boy.
To his right, was a girl of the same exact looks, the only difference being that the girl had slightly more feminine characteristics, and her hair tied into a bun. They seemed to be twins. The guy bowed with one hand behind his back, and one tucked across his waist.
“It is an honor to meet such a master of the arcane arts, Mr. Jacile. My name is Delton Yatter, and this is my sister, Treya Yatter.”
Jacile raised an eyebrow as such a formal greeting and responded in a casual tone of voice.
“Loosen up, will you? You don’t need to be that formal with me.”

The boy looked up at Jacile with a surprised expression, while the girl tried to hold in a giggle. While Delton was stunned, Treya dragged him to a seat. Delton’s expression went from confusion to one of happiness. He began to mumble to himself with a smile.
“ . . . casual terms with a high mage of Sapientia! So cool!!!!”
Tiberius looked back and forth between Delton and Jacile. Jacile could only shrug his shoulders in confusion, like saying ‘don’t look at me, I don’t know either’.
Following those twins was a giant standing at what looked to be three meters tall. Tiberius couldn’t even see his face until he entered the classroom because he had to duck under the doorway to get into the classroom. Once he entered, Tiberius got a closer look at the guy’s face. The guy was straight-up menacing. He had a strong nose and a square jaw. His black hair was cut close to his head, similar to a buzz cut. His eyebrows were angled down like he was angry at something, and below those angry eyebrows, he had grey-colored eyes.
Complementing his tough-guy face, he was also built like a tank. His shoulders were so broad that you could probably fit two average guys side by side, and the man’s shoulders would still peek out. He looked around the classroom before moving. Jacile looked down at a paper on his desk, and then back up at the giant.
“Cottu Atlas, I presume?”
The giant said nothing, only nodding.
“Nice to meet you, Cottu! Here, let me get you a desk of an appropriate size.”
Jacile snapped his fingers. Just then, a gentle breeze swept through the room as Jacile’s eyes glowed golden for a moment. A few desks at the back of the room completely fell apart, before reconstructing themselves into a massive desk fit for a giant like Cottu.
Cottu looked at the desk and spoke in a quiet, gentle voice.
“Thank you, Professor.”
Contrary to his looks, his voice made him sound kind-hearted and gentle. He took his seat and opened a book with two of his giant fingers. It would have been hilarious, but Tiberius was too stunned to laugh.
Is this what David the goliath looked like? He’s literally built like a boulder . . .
Tiberius let out a sigh and closed his eyes. It was getting harder and harder to deny the fact that he was in another world. When Tiberius opened his eyes, another person had shown up.
He looked like any other normal guy, except for three things. His amber eyes were slitted, he had blue and black cat ears, and a tail. Tiberius cracked a smile subconsciously, as to him, this guy looked like some cosplayer who had somehow stumbled into a classroom. All his features were sharp and defined, with a narrow chin and a small nose.
When this feline finally noticed Tiberius’s gaze, he frowned. Tiberius quickly jolted his head to the side and looked out the window, pretending he hadn’t been staring. Jacile tapped his desk absent-mindedly before speaking.
“James Oidson?”
James, the feline-looking guy, nodded. He seemed to be a quiet reserved type like Cottu.
“ Alright. Nice to meet you, James. My name is Jacile Neyo, your personal high mage and teacher. Let me know if you need anything.”
“Will do, Sir.”
James then took a seat and leaned back, absently staring at the ceiling with his arms crossed over his chest. Tiberius continued to stare until James finally snapped.
“Dude, stop starin at me.”
“Ye-yeah, sorry. Just never seen someone like you before.”
Tiberius forced his eyes to the front of the room and fiddled with his hands, quite embarrassed with himself. After a quick minute, two other students all arrived at once. The first one to enter looked like some sort of humanoid lizard fellow, with two horns sticking out of his head, and a long snout lined with teeth. Imagine a blue crocodile that had grown horns and a humanoid body, and that’s what he looked like.
On that lizardman’s shoulder was a small guy, about two feet tall, and had fiery red hair and blue eyes. He had a pair of wings sprouting out his back, but Tiberius had no clue how that could physically allow him to fly. Tiberius ended up just ignoring it.
Jacile quickly glanced at his paper and then spoke.
“Alright . . . The lizardman is Hilde Gardsen, and the fairy is Ensel Doobin?”
“It’s pronounced Huh-ill-d, the e is silent.”
Hilde corrected Jacile before sitting down. Ensel, the fairy, hopped off Hilde’s shoulder and announced himself rather pompously.
“I am Ensel Doobin, future high mage! Pretty soon, I’ll even outrank you!”
Ensel pointed at Jacile with thunderous poise, too which Jacile only smirked in return.
“Good! I like that fire you got Ensel. I look forward to teaching you.”
Ensel nodded to himself confidently before sitting down.
For such a small guy, he sure has a large personality.
Immediately entering behind those two was a drowsy-looking fellow with long ears similar to Jacile’s ears. He had dark bags under his green eyes, and his black hair had a serious case of bed head. He almost stumbled into the room, muttered his name, and then plopped down in a seat, head down.
“Censo Uato . . .”
Before long, Tiberius could swear he had fallen asleep. Jacile raised an eyebrow at the slumbering but said nothing. Jacile took the paper in his hand and nodded to himself.
“Alright! Let's go right down to business.”
After proclaiming such, Jacile stood up and waved his hand at the magic projection. It soon enlarged itself, making it much easier to read. Before Jacile got the chance to go over it, Hilde the lizardman spoke.
“Wait, this is it? Only nine students for one class?”
Jacile stopped and looked at Hilde with a confused expression.
“Wait, you don’t know?”
Hidle only looked at Jacile with a curious expression. Everyone else in the classroom also began to pay attention, as they also were slightly curious as to why they had such a small class. Jacile then smiled brightly.
“Well, my dear students, you have all been selected to represent the freshmen part of the student council, meaning you all scored at least in the top ninety nine percentile of student applicants, or were allowed in on . . . shall we say, special circumstances.”
Jacile gave Tiberius a knowing look before continuing. Tiberius sighed inwardly and thought to himself.
I did not sign up for this.
----------------------------------------
Far, far away from the glorious city of learning known as Sapientia, a man sat on top of a black stone throne and held his chin in his right hand. In front of him, a small humanoid figure with wings sprouting out of his back kneeled. The man sitting on that black throne leaned back, lounging without fear like a lioness in front of a gazelle. That small humanoid figure spoke after rising from its kneeling position.
“Lord Pride, I have a report.”
The man's lounging figure paused, before slowly leaning forwards. After a second, his raspy voice echoed throughout the chamber. His voice sounded like a knife scraping against metal, far from human.
“Explain”.
“Near the settlement of Sapientia, we have detected massive surges of raw magical energy, suggesting the use of a summoning spell. Shortly after, another burst of magic was detected, Wrath magic to be precise. After that, a small amount of Wisdom magic may have been used, but its hard to tell.”
“Then- has a demon been born? No, it cannot be . . . for a demon to form right under the nose of the light is preposterous, unless . . .”
The man on the throne roared with laughter. His eyes glinted with joy.
“Oi, messenger. Tell Gluttony to monitor the situation. If he refuses, tell him Scarlet has begun to resurface after her defeat.”
The man leaned back into his chair and thought to himself.
What in the world are you thinking, dear sister of mine?
