Chapter 00 – Prologue

Chapter 00 – Prologue

A very small prologue – Chapters will be a lot bigger xD

“Little fatty, don't let customers buy things at a low price, and remember to close the shop by eight every day!”

A middle aged man with grey hair explained rules to a small boy who seemed to be no older than ten, judging by his childish yet effeminate features.

“Of course, father. What father says, his son will do.”

The small boy had a rather plump figure, as well as brown, messy hair and thick eyebrows. Coupled with his childish and effeminate features, he could be seen as slightly cute.

“Haha~” The boy’s father patted him on the head, “We’ll be back in a month. But don’t do something stupid now, your father counts on you to behave.”

Throwing a last glance to his son, the middle aged man joined up with his other four sons who all were going to the capital, getting themselves tested for magical affinity.

Little fatty himself was too young to be tested, as the lowest requirement was twelve years. Before leaving, all of his brothers took their goodbyes of him.

“Don’t burn up the store, little fatty!”

“If you lose face for our family, I, your second elder brother, will give you a real spanking when I get back!”

“Don’t miss us too much! We’ll be back before you know it!”

“You’d better get a girlfriend before we come back, otherwise we’ll have to introduce you the some in the village!”

Little fatty revealed a huge smile, and waved them off. He loved his brothers, they were the best. All four of them took care of him and showed their love in different ways, even though it may not seem so from the outsider's perspective.

Seeing them mount the horses, Little fatty started to make his way back to the village. Maybe he would cause a ruckus now once they were gone, or perhaps some mischief? Grinning from the thought, he began to hum on a song while walking down on the forest road toward the village.

His real name was Li Chen. But since everyone called him Little fatty, that became his name. Honestly, he had nothing against it – he had a bit of excess fat.

The smell of herbs instantly hit him as he entered the store. To both sides; jars, vials and all sorts of containers were neatly stacked upon shelves. Little fatty’s father ran this store, which his father’s father did before him. And hopefully, if everything went according to Little fatty’s plan, he would be the one to run it in the future.

Walking inside, he took the ladder standing to the left side and placed it to one of the shelves. From one of the jars, he grabbed a red, slightly glowing red fungus and brought it down to the desk, where his father normally prepared herbs and wares to sell.

Slowly, he used a knife to cut of the outer layer of the fungus. After putting the remaining red fungus inside the jar again, he released the outer layer into a bowl of water. A while later, the water had transformed to a red liquid.

This was red liquid was known as blood supplement. By inject it into one’s bloodstream it could work as a replacement for lost blood. There were many adventurers, mercenaries and even sorcerers who used it. Sometimes, it could be a lifesaver.

Little fatty often produced these kind of elixir. Two sum it up, in alchemy; there were both potions and elixirs. Potions healed wounds and cured illnesses, while elixirs had other effects not limited to the healing area. He had the most basic skill in alchemy, and was more proficient in herbalism – the gathering of herbs.

The reason why Little fatty’s father is successful in his business is because this village has to hunt, and hunting means danger. When someone got gravely wounded, or lost too much blood, they would come here to buy potions.

Looking out in the window, it was already noon. The sun shone brightly. Spring was truly the best time of the year. When his father and brothers would come back, it would be summer. Maybe by then, he could gain some more trust from his father and help him out more with the business.

Suddenly, the door to the store was slammed open. In came a young boy with dark hair and green eyes. Gasping for air, he tried to stay straight, but revealed a big, wide smile to Little fatty, “Little fatty, guess what?”

This was his best friend, Xiu Song. Together, they had pranked the whole village in their early days. Well,

technically, it was one year ago. But Little fatty decided to let that into that past. Not willingly of course, only under the threats of his father.

“What?” Little fatty produced a smile.

“We have visitors.” Xiu’s face turned into a grin, “Do you know what that means...?"

Little Fatty's mouth changed into a half moon, "...It's finally time to revive the pranking duo!"
