After walking for what seemed like several hours, my legs were aching from traversing the rocky hills. How could there possibly be no plants? It was a good thing these boulders weren’t the size of skyscrapers, but everywhere I stepped, I almost tripped. Sand would pull you in, tiring you with every step, but rocks were just agony. Every step could end in a concussion, so you had to be aware of where you put your feet. It was just a constant hike with no end.
I tried to look far into the distance for any signs of civilization, but all I saw were more rocks, rocks, and rocks. Even my thoughts were filled with rocks. How to cook rocks, how to eat rocks, how to survive a world full of rocks. I’m just gunna name this place Rockland. No, I have to be a little more creative than that. Rocky Road? Might be copyrighted. Hmm… How ‘bout Yellowrock? Sounds familiar. I like that name. Yellowrock. I’ll name this planet, Yellowrock.
Just then, a shadow loomed over me, covering the low hanging sunset. As my eyes adjusted yet a second time from the sudden change in brightness, a sharp gasp escaped me. I was staring directly into the emerald, reptilian eyes of a greyish prehistoric dinosaur. With wings? A winged dinosaur?
“D-dragon?” I managed to whisper out.
My fight or flight response tried to kick in, but I was frozen in place, solid as a rock. Hopefully I camouflaged well with the surroundings in my… what was I wearing? I looked down. A bright green shirt with vibrant blue jeans. Oh, I’m dead. My heart sank with a heavy thud.
I decided this was it, so I raised my hands as if I was cheering and shouted at the top of my lungs, “Screw you G! I hope you go to hell!” I shut my eyes and waited. No pain. That’s it? No pain? Am I dead yet? I opened my eyes slightly and the dragon just stared. It cocked its head a little to the side as its snake-like tongue flapped in and out of its mouth.

“Uh…” We both stared at each other. Then the dragon opened its mouth and I flinched. And it let out a… yawn? Are dragons supposed to be this docile? I wondered. Maybe they’re vegetarian? Looking at the lines of sharp, jagged teeth, I decided that wasn’t the case. Then why?
Suddenly, the dragon pulled out its claws. Or were they hands? It slowly moved its claws towards me. So now it’s going to kill me, I thought. I let out a sigh and closed my eyes. Then I felt light. As if I was floating. Is this what it feels like to die peacefully? That’s nice. But it didn’t end there. I started to feel the wind picking up speed. And this wasn’t calming at all. It felt like I was in a tornado. Well, I’ve never been in an actual tornado, but I could imagine it felt like that. And when I opened my eyes, I almost wished I was dead.
The dragon held me in place by the belt buckle of my pants as it flew up into the sky. I would’ve said that this was a beautiful sight if it wasn’t for the fact that I was dangling hundreds of feet in the air, and Yellowrock’s landscape still hadn’t changed from being just a pile of rocks.
Adrenaline was coursing through my body, but what was the point? It wasn’t like I could fight a dragon the size of a rock. Well, one of the bigger rocks. Damn, I keep forgetting words. All I can think of are rocks. The size of the claws were as big as me, an average male, so the dragon was big. Huge. Like those rocks in the distance. I couldn’t think straight. I mean, it's probably taking me to its nest or something to feed me to its children. I guess this is a nice experience before I go.
