Chapter 8

Year 26 (Year 618 by the King's Calendar)

Morning rises, both Elijah’s body and mind was still recovering from what had happened yesterday.

The sight of his own soldiers dying and being turned into an undead shook his mind.

he could not think straight as they Beg for help that time… “Why did I not ordered them to retreat.”

That eight words still hunts his mind, voices from those soldiers whispered in his ears stopping him from sleeping.

Fifty footmen remained while fifty of the blood elves that had been with Elijah from the start of his journey remained. Those two hundred that had been his first elven men died in just a single battle, in just a single order! “Garithos, you shall die soon!” he cursed him as he stared at the sky with anger.

As they began our meeting of their incoming plans, an emissary greeted us “"Greetings, Prince Kael and lord Elijah. I bring word from Grand Marshal Garithos."

“what news from the front.?” Kael’thas asked showing a bitter smile on his face.

"Apparently the observatories you repaired detected a large undead force massing nearby. Lord Garithos has commanded that you crush the undead before they can march on Dalaran." The emissary said  "Unfortunately, your forces may be a little thinned. You see, Lord Garithos has also ordered that all foot soldiers, cavalry and support teams report to the front lines immediately. You men, move out!"

"This is preposterous!” Kael shouted with resentment. “Am I to assault the undead with nothing but sticks and harsh language?"

“Fucker!” enraged, Elijah howled while his veins were bulging in anger “Tell Garithos that we cannot lend him any hand! We’re already small on number after repairing those blasted observatories!”

“As you wish, Young lord” Said by the emissary showing a hint of disdain on his face as he left with only a few soldiers.

“Ready yourselves an undead horde is coming!” An Elven lieutenant shouted as he unsheathed his sword.

The two hundred fifty elves, six hundred dwarves and fifty footmen begun to form a large defensive formation in their base camp preparing to defend against the incoming undead invasion, the footmen lost their morale after yesterday’s battle which took a lot of their comrades.

there are two gates in the camp, the northern side and the southern, the north is defended by the two hundred fifty elves and two hundred dwarves led by prince Kael while the remaining troops was positioned on the other side led by Elijah and his two commanders.

Elijah and his men were standing on the sturdy walls of the camp that will change the course of Azeroth.

He stood there with serious eyes and straight posture. The men were shivering as they recall yesterday’s battle that took the lives of their companions.

“Calm yourselves! We will avenge our fallen brothers today and we will destroy the undead horde!” Elijah roared furiously as he stared at the upcoming horde with a hint of despair in his eyes.

The undead horde were marching in a fast pace from both sides their number’s countless and was led by a doom knight and a lich, On the rear of the undead army were demons called doom guards their number is terrifying.

The men were terrified at the sight of the marching undead horde, some were trembling and some prayed for their survival. The sight of his men trembling shook Elijah as he shivered losing his morale, his eyes were showing despair but a glint of hope can be seen.

“Ready your bows!”

The 200 lined up archers aimed their bows in the air pulling their flaming arrow, ready to released it they’re growing impatient the archers stood there still pulling the string, there were still no orders to fire from Maria who was watching Elijah’s figure in her back as he rally his remaining men to clash against the thousands of undead.

the men were growing frantic as they wait for the gates to open and clashed against the marching undead horde, they knew that they will lost, they number barely five hundred troops and now they, the three hundred foot soldiers will clash against thousands in an open field.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

The men can only pray that they won’t be turned into an undead and be enslaved forever like those heroes who fought valiantly for the land but was enslaved by the betrayer known to the land as Arthas, leaving all what the heroes fought defending for in vain.

The three hundred foot Soldiers formation is composed of three ranks each numbering a hundred.

On the front are the halberdiers, the second are the footmen, and last are the knights with sharp lances,

Elijah and Magroth on his side led this attempt to survive and destroy the marching undead horde in just one battle.

But in their hearts they all knew that they do will not stand a chance in successfully obliterating the undead horde with just a few troops. They all knew that it will be all in vain after the last standing Soldier falls for the undead and be enslaved.

All of their hearts trembled as the undead horde gets nearer and nearer at the base camp.

Some were planning to commit suicide to ease the pressure they are currently feeling right now.

But they cannot as they are the mighty soldiers of lordaeron!

They all became furious as they recall the betrayal of Arthas and the fall of lordaeron which took the lives of thousands or maybe millions.

The grip on their sword tightened as they grew wild and have readied themselves to charge towards the undead horde when the gate opened. Elijah’s grip on the rope that was fastened on the horse’s head, He wore a plain armor while holding an elven sword given by Sylvanas herself.

Moments later, as the gate opened slowly the archers led by Maria were tired as they pulled their string for five minutes now and felt that they were about to lose their arms.

“Release!”

As soon as they heard the orders of Maria, hundreds of burning arrows flew in the sky and was aimed towards the undead horde. The arrows struck many of the undeads but it was all for nothing, the undeads only loss a hundred or so, yet they are still thousands.

“Fire at will!”

Hearing this, the archers begun firing their arrows in a fast manner, not giving any mind who or what they shoot using the plain steel arrows looted from yesterday’s battle.

“Charge!”

As soon as the gate opened completely, the foot Soldiers began charging towards the upcoming undead horde. The ground was shaking as they charged towards the undead horde.

Magroth led the hundred knights and attacked the abominations, while the halberdiers were fending off the undead knights.

Every second, one by one the troops fell onto the ground as they turned into an undead by the powerful necromancers of the scourge.

Elijah were fighting against an abomination blow by blow, the abomination swung his butcher sword but it was parried by Elijah then he realized it was a chance to kill the abomination.

“Uwaah!”

He swung his sword towards the abomination and successfully cutting it, he panted as he used all his strength parrying the heavy blows of the abomination. His eyes were in disbelief as he saw the sight in front of him. The undeads begun to slaughter the human and dwarven troops, this was not a clash to begin with, It was an offer to the undeads to raise their troops number.

*bleet*

A soft sound can be head as he stood there in the battlefield, he was curious as to where the sound came from and he suddenly felt pain in his left arm, he stared at his left shoulder who was pierced by an arrow shot by an undead archer. Tears flew out of his eyes as soon as he felt the enormous pain coming from his left shoulder.

He did not let go of his elven sword nor dare to fall on to the ground, he walked towards his horse trembling and felt as if he was cold. His body became dull and his body turned numb.

He felt a little bit dizzy and fell on to the ground.

“Fall back in to the Base!”

The last thing he heard as his eyes closed…..
