Chapter 2: Welcome to the Lion kingdom.

Chapter 2

Colors instantly faded and soon I could see nothing, I could hear nothing but I could feel. There was an agonizing pain that felt like a blade was scraping against my spine and ended at my tailbone, the same pain moved and shot back up my spine into my head. Once the pain got to my head, it split off, one part stayed and turned into a searing burning pain that was both a headache similar to a blade scraping my scalp.

I could feel my throat burning combined with searing pain going up my nose into my sinuses, color spontaneously appeared again, in the form of an aurora. So too did my hearing with the accompaniment of screaming, my screaming based on my throat burning. There was a bright flash and the pain cut out, only to start again seconds later.

WHAM

New pain wracked my entire body as I wheezed for breath. Thankfully while the old pain that was torturing me a second ago resurfaced, it was only in the form of dull aching like that of growing pains or soreness.

“Hngnn” I groaned in the midst of finding my breath.

Bright light and colors flashed in my eyes while I felt a strange sensation on top of my head and butt. Voices appeared all around me like that of a crowd, immediately followed by the clanking and shifting of metal. All of which was loud enough to rattle my brain a bit as I wasn’t used to the volume yet. Some of the voices cleared up but I couldn’t understand any of them.

“Er ist aus den bestienclans.“ A man said from somewhere to the left of me.

“wo kommt er her?” A Woman Said to my left.

“wie hat er das gemacht?” A man Said to my right.

The clanking of metal stopped right in front of me. “Bleib liegen!” He said.

Glancing up I saw a heavily armored knight in front of me instead of what I thought might have been some sort of machine from a factory. There were not just one, but four heavily armed and armored knights pointing halberds at me. Swiftly turning my head all around to get my bearings I quickly realized this place was absolutely nothing like where I was a minute ago.

There was a bright chandelier overhead brightening the hall. The entire building was made from marbled stone slightly discolored from time. The walls had a cascade of many different tapestries and shields each of which had different colors and coats of arms. Further above the tapestries laid a stone lion's head. The entire hall had an inbuilt design that focused the eyes forward. Actually looking forward I realized this wasn’t just some ordinary great hall, it was a throne room. There was a brilliantly adorned throne with a gold lion's head resting above it. Sitting on it was a middle aged man with slightly grayed hair wearing an expensive red and gold robe.

“Where the hell am I?” I said aloud, my voice leaking my thoughts from surprise and shock.

His face contorted in anger and belayed frustration, soon he yelled out, “Schweigen!” Which rattled my brain.

The entire hall quieted down to the point where I could hear my own heart beat.

“Was war das?” The king said, not yelling this time.

It sounded very similar to “what was that?” So I spoke up again, a little louder but still frightened.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“Where am I?”

“Aha, er spricht die alte Sprache.” He cleared his throat, “Eherm, how did you get in my hall?”

He was a lot nicer than I thought, but spears pointing at me still made me nervous. “I-I don’t know… I was about to play basketball and then I was here.”

“Basketball? Is that a beast clan sport?” The king waved at the guards to step down, which caused them to step back in unison.

“Beast clan?” Confusion crossed my face.

“Oh come now, are you not aware of your own clans?” Mirth filled his face as if he was playing a light joke or prank, but it soon changed to seriousness as he saw no change in my expression.

“How come you don’t speak ‘Deustch‘?”

“Deustch? I only know English.” I didn’t recognize the name of the language but the language started to sound familiar to me as if I heard it somewhere.

“So you used an unknown magic to teleport yourself into my throne room, are somehow unaware of your own beast clans and you don’t speak any Deustch?

My blood ran cold at his mention of magic. “Magic? Like witchcraft? No, not at all!” I shook my head in rapid denial. In doing so I felt an unusual wind brush against the top of my head.

His serious look grew worse when he finally asked a question I could answer.

“Are you from earth? Like our forefathers?”

“I am from earth, yes. What do you mean forefathers?” I said.

“Friezer!” He called out to his attendant.

"Haben sie dich etwas angetan?” An attendant on his left who looked like an adviser answered back.

“Nein, wir müssen ihm Deutsch beibringen. Vielleicht bringt er uns Dinge bei, wie unsere Vorfahren.”

The ‘nein’ tipped me off to what language it was an I jumped to my feet and said with fever, “your speaking German!”

The guards startled by my sudden movements pulled forward again and pointed their halberds ominously closer.

Uncomfortable with the sudden change in environment and the constant whispering in a language I didn't understand I mumbled out, “Uh, am I in trouble or something? I swear I didn’t do any witchcraft!”

It was then, when I noticed something pressed up against my inner thighs, it was soft but just enough for me to pay attention to. Looking down I noticed a fluffy white tail sticking out between my legs. Confused, thinking there was a dog doing some unusual thing behind me, I looked to find it was coming out of me, putting two and two together I realized it was my own tail, and the realization made my already cold blood run even colder.

Struggling to stifle my now rapidly beating heart I unconsciously mumble to myself, “I-I-I have a ta-tail?”

“What is your name?” The king asked me.

Shaken out of my stupor I respond, “Sam, Sam baker sir.”

“Welcome to the lion kingdom Sam. You have ears too.” The king pointed to the top of his own head.

Unconsciously I raise my hand to my ears, finding them where they should be, but seeing where he was pointing I put my hand on top of my head and find two fluffy triangles and an odd sensitive sensation being transmitted between my fingers and head. I was starting to feel lightheaded.

“Worry not Sam, we’ll help you acclimate and teach you… I think you said it was German? So you can survive here. I don’t know what circumstances you found yourself in but I’m sure we can come to some sort of arrangement.” He smiled, no doubt having some sort of calculative thought in his head.

He continued, “this is friezer, he knows very little English, but he will be capable of teaching you the language.”

Friezer bowed, “hello.”

“Uh hi.” I said.

There was some more said between the king and the guards, which led to the guards backing off. Friezer stepped forward then and began to lead me through some hallways throughout the castle.

“First lesson, bestienclans not well liked. Watch your back.”

I commit that to memory. I grit my teeth in understanding. I wanted to be human. Not, whatever it was that I am now. But I didn’t get to choose.
