Trees fell one after another as the sky darkened with dust, and rumbling sounds could be heard. A soldier came running to Li Wei while gasping and said, "Large amounts of beasts are heading here, it seems that they were scared and fled from the direction of Lucid City."

Hearing this, Li Wei and the leader of Qilin City rubbed their temples in frustration.

Li Wei: "Take the refugees to safety! All personnel, take positions!"

The soldiers began to escort the civilians and doctors inside the gate before closing it, while many others started running outside. Some were setting up electric fences and barricades, while others loaded their guns and took positions for battle.

The turrets on the walls began to move as soldiers reloaded them with missiles and artillery bullets. Various men gave a green signal as multiple helicopters took off and flew over the walls to monitor the forest, preparing for the incoming battle.

The skies began to darken as the ground started shaking vigorously. The walkie-talkie began to beep as a message came through, "The beasts are here."

The ground shook as multiple beasts of various kinds rushed out of the forest.

Li Wei: "OPEN FIRE!"

The soldiers and turrets began to barrage the beasts with bullets while the helicopters supported from the skies, taking down flying creatures and those preparing to ambush the soldiers. The beasts fell one after another but kept coming at full force.

???: "Sir, we are running out of ammo!"

Li Wei: "Hey, Arnan, is the backup nearby?"

Arnan: "I won't say nearby, but yes, they should be here soon."

Li Wei: "Backup will arrive soon, try to last as long as you can!"

"YES!"

Bullets continued to fire as the ground was filled with the blood and corpses of both beasts and men. Hollow ammunition cases were left unattended, crushed by medics rushing in with the injured.

BOOM!

A terrifying explosion rang out as a huge armored vehicle was flung in their direction, but fortunately, it didn't hit anyone. A group of creatures with hollow faces, large bodies with extremely long arms and legs, and an unnerving number of ribs closing in the chest area walked out, towering up to 20 feet in height.

Arnan: "Blood Corpse Golems..."

Li Wei's eyes widened in shock and recognition. These were not ordinary beasts. These were bio-engineered monstrosities, created from the corpses of fallen beasts and humans, reanimated with dark technology and malevolent intent. The Blood Corpse Golems lumbered forward, their movements slow but terrifyingly deliberate.

But the golems were resilient. Their bodies, patched together with reinforced metal and sinew, began to heal almost as quickly as they were damaged. The soldiers' efforts seemed futile in the face of such grotesque regeneration.

Li Wei: "We need more firepower! Deploy the heavy artillery!"

The massive cannons mounted on the walls roared to life, their barrels glowing with energy as they unleashed powerful blasts at the Blood Corpse Golems. The explosions rocked the battlefield, sending shockwaves through the air and tearing chunks out of the golems' bodies.

Still, the golems pressed on, driven by an insatiable hunger for destruction. The ground shook with each of their steps, and the defenders of Qilin City could feel the pressure mounting.

Suddenly, one of the golems let out an ear-piercing shriek, its hollow face contorting in rage. It swung its massive arm, striking the wall with a force that sent cracks spiderwebbing through the reinforced concrete.

Li Wei: "Hold the line! We can't let them break through!"

The soldiers fought with renewed determination, their weapons blazing as they poured everything they had into the battle. The air was thick with smoke and the acrid smell of burning flesh and metal. Medics rushed to tend to the wounded, their faces set with grim resolve.

Just then, a tall, blonde man with a commanding presence appeared on the battlefield. His eyes burned with determination, and beside him stood his soul pet—a ferocious werewolf, its fur bristling with raw power.

With a roar, the werewolf lunged at the nearest golem, its claws tearing through the creature's reinforced hide with brutal efficiency. The blonde man followed suit, wielding a massive sword that glowed with a fierce, otherworldly light. Together, they cut through the golems with unmatched ferocity, their movements a blur of deadly precision.

The defenders watched in awe as the blonde man and his werewolf decimated the Blood Corpse Golems, their combined strength turning the tide of the battle. The golems, once unstoppable, now fell one after another under the relentless assault.

Amidst the chaos, Zan Yan spotted an injured couple trapped beneath the rubble. Without hesitation, he grabbed a nearby gun and sprinted towards them. As he reached the couple, a golem loomed over them, its hollow face twisted in a grotesque snarl.

Zan Yan: "Stay back!"

With a steady hand, Zan Yan aimed the gun and fired, the bullets striking the golem's head with pinpoint accuracy. The creature let out a guttural roar before collapsing, its body disintegrating into a pile of ash.

The blonde man, having witnessed Zan Yan's bravery, nodded in approval. "Well done, kid. You've got guts."

Zan Yan helped the injured couple to their feet, his heart pounding with adrenaline. He knew that this was just the beginning of his journey, but he felt a newfound sense of purpose and determination.

As the last of the Blood Corpse Golems fell, the defenders of Qilin City let out a triumphant cheer. The battle was won, but the war was far from over. With heroes like the blonde man and Zan Yan leading the charge, they knew that they could face whatever challenges lay ahead.
