Before the storm

I decided to slightly adjust the sequence of events after someone rightfully pointed out that too much happens in a single day in my story. While it might be realistic, it’s better for the book to pace the events so readers can savor the details and the development of the plot. I agree with this observation and have chosen to spread the events and chapters across different days, making the narrative flow more smoothly.

I’ve already revised the first three chapters, adding more details and a smoother progression of events. My next goal is to refine chapters 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11 to ensure the sequence of the plot is harmonious and that every event finds its rightful place.

I have temporarily removed the previously released chapters since their events don’t yet fit into the current stage of the narrative. Instead of rapid development, I am now focusing on details, atmosphere, and the logic of what’s happening.

At the moment, I am working on chapter 14, which will delve into the political web of Kyivan Rus’ and the intrigues unfolding before Alexander’s coronation. This is a pivotal moment, as it will show how various forces - boyars, clergy, trade guilds, and even foreign envoys - begin weaving their plots and positioning themselves. Alexander, though a military genius, must now master the nuances of politics, which will be a true challenge for him.

The coronation will be thoroughly described in chapter 16. This event will not just be a ritual but a demonstration of power, an alliance with key factions, and a test of the people’s trust.

After the coronation, I will smoothly return to previously written episodes, such as Alexander training with his retinue and preparing for new trials. The chapter about his undercover journey to the city will also remain but will be repositioned depending on the flow of events.

I’ve decided to take a more thoughtful and meticulous approach. Now, every event will have more time to unfold, allowing readers to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Kyivan Rus’ and feel the complexity of the political, social, and military aspects of that era.
