'Life isn't fair'

It is an axiom which is widely used all over the world.The reason behind its wide use is very simple.It is because throughout their entire life, humans have at least encountered some sort of unfairness at least once in some point of their life.

And the interesting thing is,  life was never fair throughout the history of mankind.In our long course of history,  there were no shortage for people or various groups which  made use of number of  ways exploiting the Political,Judicial and Military system to purposefully make it unfair for the vast majority of the people so that they could stay in power.

Now once again due to the birth of mages, Life was made unfair to a certain group of people who were unable to use magic.This situation arose due to the ego of the mages who felt as if they were superior to other nomages.

And one of the main reason for this was the expulsion of nomages from the Elites. Its a vast network which contained many powerful people all around the world.Due to the birth of mages only money was not enough to stay in the Elites, the network which silently controlled the world from shadows.

It would be right to say that this situation was brought by the members who turned into mages after the rift phenomenon, As they felt that the no-mages were not worth to be a part of the Elites.And thus only the rich and powerful mages were allowed to stay in the Elites network.

And due to the changes in their network they felt that they needed to change things fast so that nothing would threaten their new found existence.For that purposes every members around the world started to work together to change their world to their liking.And their plan was simple, It was to turn the society of the world into a mage controlled society.

So slowly they started to pull the strings to make it happen.

One of the first thing that they did was to remove the nomages from any position of power.For this they started from the former members of their network, by completely stripping them of their powers.And If any of them showed any signs of resistance,they were killed without any mercy.Thus it was an unwritten rule known to everyone that only mages were allowed to be in a position of power, nomatter how small it is.

The next thing they did was the effective use of religious  institution all over the world for brainwashing the nomages.They all made it seem as if the mages were beings blessed by the gods in heaven and it was only natural for the nomages to follow them as they would help to overcome this ordeal and many that would soon follow. Ofcourse these campaigns didn't have much effect in the beginning but slowly people started to believe it.

And the final thing they did was to control all known technologies.Since it allowed them to stop any technologies which had the possibilities to be used against the mages by nomages. One such technology was nanites they limited their use only for medical purposes and banned the nomages from further researches in nanites. Since some earlier researches suggested that it was possible to produce magic by manipulating them.Since it would hinder their plan if the nomages could use magic so they killed anyone who bothered to research in this subject in spite of the ban.

And my parents were killed just because of their research of utilising nanites for generating magic.

I was born just some 4 years before the rift phenomenon.It was the time when the  world was still at peace and everyone was enjoying a comfortable life.

My parents told me that they had named me Yuki since I was born during the time when it was snowing.

I was considered as a prodigy by my parents since I started to learn,understand and speak the words when i was just one years old. When I asked them the reason for why they considered me as a prodigy since it was perfectly normal for many child to speak at one year old if their parents had underwent gene modification.They said that compared to the other children my speed of learning and understanding things was many times faster than those children.

On further research by using the internet, I found out it was true.After that I wanted to find what my parents did for my living since I never knew.

Due to that I realised that both my mom and dad were great people.You could even call them genius since they each were responsible for many technological breakthroughs in their own fields.

When I was two years world, I was really curious to understand their work. So I just did that.Firstly I followed around mom to understand her work.On seeing my determination she said that i could ask her anything I want to know about her research.it seemed that she was happy that her son was interested in her mothers work.

Then I used the same method to figure out what my father did and it worked like magic.It seems that my parents were working for the same objective.To improve the potential of a human body but they were making use of different fields.My mom was making use of nanites while my father was using A.I's and implants for that purpose.Then they asked what I thought about their work.

'Why not combine everything? For example why don't you make it so that the A.I can control both the nanites and the functions in implants as per the users instruction's. Wouldn't that be frigging awesome?

My reply kinda stumped my parents.For days they beat themselves up for not thinking that of earlier.It seemed that at first many researches were made to combine both implants and nanites but they were never successful since the implants could not properly control the nanites not even once.So those researches were dropped long ago.So they never again made any effort to combine them again.But now it was possible due to the invention of sentient A.i.

So they showered me in praises and started their research for creating the first ever type of implant combining A.I and nanites.

And when I was 4 years old.During my birthday they presented me the final finished product as my birthday gift.It was the best ever birthday gift that I could recieve.

Soon I activated the implant with the help of my parents.It was a painless procedure and it took  only some 30 minutes.

Of course there were some steps to be completed before I could use it.

First was the customisation of the A.I. I changed the avatar of the A.I to one of the popular anime avatar of the old times along with its voice.Also there were some other minor changes I made.

'From today, Your name is Tiara, Do you like it?'

'Yes, My master'

'And Tiara, Inject nanites into my blood stream so as to increase my physical movement speed to double the current speed'

'Understood. The process is complete master'.

With that I opened my eyes and stood up to know how i felt after the implant.

'Are you alright, Yuki?'

My  parents asked in a worried face.Even though they knew it was completely safe for me to wear the implants.

'Yes, I am alright,To tell the truth I am doing great' I said to my parents.Since it was true, I was feeling great.I could see that the nanites were finally taking effect.Since I could move at a faster rate than before.

I also felt as if a huge load has been cleared from my brain and it was probably true since my memory capacity has increased many folds.And of course there were many more things I wanted to do now thanks to the implants, So i was just going to do what I want.So I asked permission from my parents and went to experiment with my implants, like a child who found a new toy.

A few months later the rift phenomenon occurred. Thankfully it didn't occur near my city.But still we decided to move to our underground shelter for some time to be completely on the safe side.Scientists and researchers were all called to tackle the problem and soon their discovery  led to the birth of the mages . Of course everyone was relieved since we now could fight against the monsters.

After that two years have passed since the mages were created. Even though at first I was psyched since we could fight the monsters , those feeling disappeared when I noticed the things that were going on in the background, slowly i could see that the mages were taking control everywhere around the world.And there were also many cases of discrimination against nomages started to pop out.And the government and police which were now totally composed of mages didn't care about the cases against the mages.

Since my parents and I could not activate the mana, it was the worst case scenario for us.Not liking this development my parents decided to join hands with their old  friends to research some ways for the nomages to use magic.Since they believed if everyone could use magic the discrimination could be stopped.And soon their research started to bear fruit.

They brought me to their research lab one day to show their success.It seems that my mom's previous research was very helpful for achieving successful results. They found out that mana was not only present on living beings but they were also present on non living organisms,This made it possible to replicate those objects along with mana using nanite constructs. After further research they were able to activate the mana in the nanite constructs with the help of a advanced program created by my father.

And one more amazing thing was that by making use of the nanite constructs it was possible to activate different mana affinities there by creating any type of magic.For example, A katana made using nanite construct which contained mana of fire affinty can use fire magic.In a similar way you could use other magic depending on the mana affinity of the nanite construct.

It was truly an amazing discovery.And I was really happy because I am sure with this I was sure that the discrimination could be stopped.And it might even possible to bring down the control of mages.

It seems that today they were celebrating due to the success of their research.Not wanting to disturb their celebration I asked my father whether I could test the katana. Of course he readily agreed since It seems that he somehow understood my intent.

Anyhow it was also my chance to use magic.Excitedly I made my way to the room the room the katana was placed. And I saw that my Mom was coming from there

' So are you going to test the nanite construct, Yuki?'

'Yes, Mom.'

'Be careful and call me if you need help' She patted my head and went on to join dad and her friends.

Inside the room I found out the Katana nanite construct placed in the table.I examined the data and uploaded all the data of the program that my father created and other details since i thought It would be useful for me If i wanted to use magic in my spare time.

Then I lifted the Katana.The height of the katana was also around my height.And If someone looked at me it would look hilarious.

'Tiara, be a good girl and reduce the height of this katana using the data from the latest upload for my otimal use'

'Why master? You would look awesome when swinging that Katana' I also heard a giggle.

'Do it now or I will cut your access to internet during our personal time'

'Seriously, can't you take a good joke, You are no fun, Master'

With that the size of the katana in my hands reduced to the level where I could use it properly.I went where everyone was celebrating wanting to show the new changes i made to the nanite construct,But suddenly I heard a loud noise wondering if anyone got hurt I doubled my speed to reach there.

But I never would have expected the horrible scene that played in front of me.

Both my parents and everyone else were lying lifeless with blood splattered around everywhere.And in the middle of the corpses a black robed guy was standing.

Tears formed in my eyes when I realised that my parents were gone from this world.But I didn't even have time to even cry properly mourning my parents death since the mage has noticed my presence in the room.

' Oh, Now that's a pleasant surprise, I didn't know such a cute young boy was here.Answer my question child, What are you going to do?'

He asked such a question since he saw the katana in my hands.

Swallowing my rage, I said

'Here, this is why you killed my parents and everyone, right?'

Then I throwed the katana near his feet.

'What, is that it? I thought you were going to try and kill me as a revenge since I killed your parents.Oh it seems like I made a mistake in judging you'

He said that and moved forward and pick up the katana

'Too boring, ah stupid what did I expect from a stupid kid anyway, let me make it quick, do you want to say any last words before I kill you' He asked with a grin in his face.

'Rot in hell, you fucking bastard' I cursed at him with my loud voice.

Slightly taken back my cursing, he was silent for a while.Maybe he thought that I would have begged for mercy or something else.Then I heard him say with an angry voice

'You fucking kid, I thought of killing you quickly but now I am going to torture you to death nice and slow, with your stupid small katana'

He moved swinging my katana but then he stopped since he finally noticed something was strange. He felt as if something was moving near his hear.But it was too late to do anything.

'Tiara ...  Activate fire explosion'

Those were the last words the mage in the black robe heard before his death.

'It was finally over' I thought to myself.

It was a gamble but somehow it worked since he picked up the Katana

When he picked up the katana, I ordered Tiara to create some more nanites and directed to cover the area of his heart from the outside.  

And when tiara confirmed that they covered his heart, I ordered her to activate the most powerful magic from the data, Fire explosion.

For a while I was staying there and was looking at my parents face but for some reason they suddenly looked peaceful. As if signalling me not to worry and that they were ok.

After that I exited the building and then disappeared into the dark.

Present time:

'Why don't you allow me to erase that memory master?' Tiara asked

' I told you not to ask that again didn't I? So how long have I been unconscious?'

'30 seconds, you wouldn't have fallen unconscious if you had listened to my suggestion, master'

'Are you blaming me now? Ah forget it what's the situation now'

'I think they are going to torture some information out of you' Tiara said with a mischievous smile.

'Are you nuts, someday you are definitely gonna get me killed'

With that I slowly got up and opened my eyes.

Only Kazumi was staying in the student council room. It seems that Touji had went to fetch some body.

'Did you just use a stun spell on me?' Slightly startled by my sudden actions

'You, did you break my spell? Its not yet time for you to return to conscious' She asked in a puzzled tone.

'Yes, I did, You got a problem with that? So this is how you conduct student council meetings, huh'

'I called you here to check whether you knew anything about the attacks on the mages.It seems to me that you are also involved in the attacks.Don't tell me, are you the reason that the nomages now are defying the mages?'

'I can't understand, You are saying as if fighting back against the bullies is a bad thing.'

'If you ask me I should say it is a very bad thing, the nomages should have just accepted their fate to serve the mages, You all are just an entertainment to us, just like show animals. But truth to be told i kinda like show animal more than you nomages.Now I wonder what will the nomages do If something happens to their leader'

With that the air changed in the student council room.And she chanted her spell.

Fire Blast

And just with that spell i was blown out of the room along with the walls to the grounds.

Since it was a high class spell all the mages present nearby immediately arrived to see what the commotion was about.It was the same with nomages, since they heard a loud voice they also came to the school grounds to find out what happened.They found that huge debris was present in the grounds.When they saw the first floor they guessed that the debris from the walls which were blown out during explosion.  

On seeing that the nomages were also gathering. Kazumi said with a devilish grin

'You stupid nomages, don't ever try to defy us mages any more or you will also be killed like your powerless leader.His corpse should be somewhere in the debris, so if you want, say your final prayers, so at least that poor bastard's soul may go to heaven'

The nomages were all shocked by this sudden news that their leader was killed.They couldn't believe that he could be dead because to them he was their saviour.During the time when everyone was silently enduring all the bullying and discrimination by the mages he appeared like a ray of hope saving them.He even gave them a means to fight against the mages. But if even he could not win against them, then what about their future.

Some of the nomages broke down and started crying because of their leaders death now all their hopes are lost.But in the midst of them a few were standing as if nothing had happened.They were the student council members.They are mostly composed of people who had better compatibility with the implants.They were not shocked by this sudden declaration because they knew that Yuki wasn't the type to die from this.They believed in him because he was the guy who completely changed the nomages from hopeless people to confident people within this one month in which he enrolled.

And yes, of course they were right.Yuki didn't die, but he was working on something very important.Since he felt It was finally the right time to execute his plan.He sent words to all his comrades that it was time to start the plan. Then he also instructed Tiara to upload detailed information on how to use and defend against magic to he implants of every nomages. Since Yuki was sure this information was going to save their lives in the near future.

So you might be wondering what Yuki's plan was .It was a very simple, it was to overthrow the mages from their position. It would be an impossible task, if not for the network of people whom he brought together for this purpose from the day his parents were killed. There were at least thousands of members in each city who were part of his network.And for their single purpose of overthrowing the mages they had been working silently in the shadows for years.Even the reason for which Yuki enrolled in this academy was also due to his plan.He wanted some people to fight against the mages of this very school.Therefore he started preparing the students from the day he enrolled into this school so they could hold their ground against the top mages of the city.

Since everything was now complete, seeing that his plan is already in motion, He cleared the debris that surrounded him and stood up.,

'Now, What are you doing Kazumi, How can you say that you killed me, When I am very much alive. Do you have some kind of problem with your eyes?'

Along with Kazumi, the rest of their mages were also shocked by the current developments.From what they could gather an A-class spell was used.Even a good mage couldn't come out of the spell unharmed but the guy was standing in front of them completely fine.

The nomages surrounded Yuki since they were overjoyed to find that he was still alive.Finally the rest of the student council members also moved near Yuki.The atmosphere near Yuki was filled with joy

But it was completely the opposite in the mages.The mages were burning with anger not only did a nomage somehow broke their leader Kazumi's spell but now the rest of the nomages are standing giving no attention or respect to the mages.Only this month they started to behave this way but now seeing all the nomages behaving like that now they were very pissed off.

Even Kazumi was pissed off.Noticing that every one else was feeling the same way.She made a decison. She conveyed her decision telepathically to all the mages present in the area.And they all agreed to her decision unanimously.

'Your luck has finally run out nomages, we have tolerated your existence so far but after this humiliation we have decided to kill you all.'

Hearing her declaration, Yuki quickly sent his plan to everyone through his implants.And they started to move according to his plan.

And just when Kazumi and the other mages were ready to prepare the spells.Suddenly they felt that the ground was shaking violently.

At First Yuki thought that someone was using earth magic so he was ready to counter that but he saw that even the ground under the mages were shaking so he stopped.Then suddenly it seemed as if everything went dark and the shaking became even more violent.  

When it seemed like the shaking had stopped.He opened his eyes.It looked to him as if it was night time.When he looked around he could only see their two school buildings.And outside the school he could see nothing it  looked as if it was covered in plains.

Initially he thought someone has teleported them to some place by mistake.Then he dismissed the idea since he concluded that they were not teleported to somewhere in earth but rather teleported to a different planet.

Of course he didn't come to the conclusion without any evidence.Because above him in the sky there were two moons.
