The pair are suddenly thrown forward with great force and rendered unconscious, as behind them a massive explosion blows the back of the train! Smoke fills the train and shrapnel lay everywhere with people wounded from it. The emergency lights within the train turns off and shrouds the inside in darkness.
As some of the smoke clears out, it is revealed that the other half of the train has been blown off and left stranded in the railroad in the distance as a huge hole exposes the back of the train to the outside. The other train that had been spotted earlier had already caught up to this train.
One of the officers waves his hand to clear the smoke up, “Cough cough, what the hell was that?!”
The other train’s sliding doors are open wide, with 2 large men with distinct blue-colored tanktops standing by the edge, one of them holding a rocket launcher.
“Yahahaha! The train’s open, board them captain!” One of them yells with a strong Ruthian (Russian) accent, before 3 of the men make a running jump onto the current train bearing assault rifles.
All three men point their rifles at the officers, while one of them that wears a beret speaks up, “You know, I have always been bothered by the fact that modern monorails don't have entertainment systems." He grins at the bewildered cops, "Officer, you won't arrest some good men on the charge of entertainment right?"
“I-it’s our job as the police to keep the security and peace of this city untouched! You terrorists have no place in-
They are interrupted as the three shoots the officers, killing them in an instant. All of the passengers are now hysterical and scream for their lives at the sudden sight of gore.
The one in the beret laughs, clearly enjoying the chaos that is happening, "Haaaahahaha! I like the sound of my biggest fans right here! Scream a little louder!", as he lets off a couple shots into the ceiling of the train.
“Hey, captain, should we hijack the cab?” One of the men asks.
The man wearing the beret, now identified as their captain looks at the man with a disappointed look, “Oh I don’t know, what do you think?" And then he smacks him in the head. "Go on, quickly!” in an annoyed manner.
The armed man nods and runs down the aisle, making his way towards the cab. Meanwhile, the unconscious Gou and Kensuke finally regain their bearings.
“Augh, what the hell…?” Kensuke opens his eyes and looks forward, seeing nothing but a huge boot right in his face.
The captain standing over spoke to Kensuke, “Huh? You’re alive? For a random ass civilian, that's pretty impressive!"
Kensuke tries to pick himself up, only to feel his back stinging like hell as he falls right back down. “Nngh… You… I recognize that outfit anywhere… The Unchained?”
“Oh, you got eyes, very commendable!” one of the armed men said, chuckling before sticking the barrel of his gun on Kensuke’s forehead, “Let’s see if you also have a brain left; come on, say something smart!"
Kensuke lets out a strained laugh, as he eyes his dropped gun below a seat to his side. “Heh, well… Look man, I got somewhere to be later, so…”
He also looks to his side, having noticed that Gou had actually been awake for a while now, and the terrorists haven't noticed yet. He winks at Kensuke, as the two of them know what to do next.
“… I don’t have time for games!” Kensuke rolls to the side, barely dodging the gunfire of the terrorist just above him and picks his gun up, aims, and shoots them straight in the dome.
The captain is caught off-guard by the action, and aims at Kensuke, “ty malen'kaya suchka! (you little bitch!)”, and also happens to let out their Ruthian come through.
Gou who is out of the captain’s attention range, aims at the captain and lets loose, hitting them a few times on their body.
“Argh!” the captain shrieked, deciding to retreat back to the blown up entrance at the back to hide from Gou’s gunshots.
Kensuke lets out a big sigh of relief, "Alright, we got some time to refresh...", but the second he moves, the stinging pain all over his back interrupts him. "Ack! This sucks... H-hey, our backs are probably scorched right?"
Gou nods, staring at Kensuke's behind, "Yeah, your clothes on your back are burnt off in some areas, so your ass is showing."
"... Wait, really?"
Just before he could actually confirm that, 4 other terrorists board the train in support of their wounded captain and begin shooting a couple shots at the two.
Gou hastily took Kensuke by the arm and led him behind some seats, “Yoly shiiii- let's go man!"
The two would then look up at see the two passengers whose seats they just hid behind in, one of them shakily holding an open bottle of water.
Gou takes the bottle of water and quickly drinks it, then gently gives it back and says “Thanks man, you’re a lifesaver!”, much to the confusion of the stranger.
“Did you really have to do that …?” Kensuke said to Gou with a disgusted look, “… We seriously have our work cut out for us this time.” as he holds up his handgun.
[Oh man, this entire situation got me so tense that I almost forgot to internal monologue for a while there... It's so hard to concentrate right now, my mind is still kinda' hazy from that previous explosion...]
Gou notices Kensuke’s weary expression, before he smiled and started to speak, “Take your time, dude.”
He peeks to the side, noticing that the captain has retreated completely but replaced by 4 new armed men that have boarded the train, walking towards the two.
“I’ll distract them for you, alone, while you think of the next best course of action!”
[Wait... What did he say? Face them alone? Surely, he doesn’t mean…]
Kensuke grabs him on one of his shoulder, looking a little angry, “Don’t be reckless, not here."
Gou brushes him off, as he prepares to jump out. “I won’t! Trust me to give you some time to recuperate!” He then says with confidence, “You’ve always been the smarter one between us, so I trust that you will get us out of here alive-
THUD!
A loud bang is heard right on top of the train which redirected the attention of the terrorists and the pair to it.
“What was that?” One of the armed men asked, now aiming their rifle towards the sound.
From the open back of the train, a shadowy figure flips down and lands on their feet to face the men. The figure raises their gaze towards the inside of the train, especially the four men.
They stepped closer towards it, their focus undivided, “You… You’re so short, how did you get-
Before they could even finish their sentence, the mysterious figure suddenly speaks up, “Heh?! First thing you notice is my height?! You jerk!” revealing their light feminine voice, as they proceed to charge at the men.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
“Что ты, черт возьми?! (What the hell are you?!)” More of their Ruthian comes out as the armed men tries to fire at the sudden assailant, only for them to realize that they already have massive gashes all across their torsos, bleeding profusely, while the figure is now standing right behind them with two large daggers drawn out.
“Your single greatest mistake is your audacity to even show yourselves here! Begone, twerps!” she exclaims, before proceeding to throw the large, burly men off the train one by one with a kick, a push, and a shove.
She flips her hair to the side before placing her hands on her hips, “Hmph, the others are probably doing explosive sets by now… I need to make this quick.”
After she was done, everyone on the train, including the pair, are utterly silent after the entire scenario played out.
[… What the hell was that? Just one second she was facing them off, and the next second she had already kicked them off the train! Is that even possible?? It might even be possible that she is here to hijack the train too, damn it...]
Gou and Kensuke jump out, holding their guns up and aiming at her, “You! I suggest that you leave, unless you want trouble!” Kensuke asked in an aggressive tone.
“Hmm? What do you mean? I am just a passenger.” she replied.
Gou replied back, “Stop playing!” as his finger starts to squeeze on the trigger.
The girl then bursts out laughing, as she waves her hand in front of her face “Hahaha! I’m kidding I’m kidding!”
In the blink of an eye, she appears behind the two and places one hand on each of their backs, saying “It’s my job to make sure you passengers get off safely, so let me lead you all to the nearest exit.” Before pushing the two out of the train through the open back, and onto the rail roads.
“Ow ow ow, ouch!” The two of them crash, roll and stumble onto the tracks as the train leaves them behind quickly. They also find the other passengers getting dropped off onto the tracks one by one at an absurd rate as well.
While Gou is writhing on the ground in pain, Kensuke simply stares off in the direction of the train, unable to even speak.
[I couldn’t even see her move, and capable of throwing fully grown adults with a single hand… With skills like that, she is most likely a professional… Yeah, that sounds about right.]
Back on the train, the girl who had hijacked the terrorists who had hijacked both trains are starting to have a brutal fight, a one-girl-army against an entire group of trained soldiers.
“Welp, that takes care of this train.” said the girl as she stands inside the other speeding train, now completely emptied of both passengers and terrorists.
Even with her skills and speed, the battle is hard and grueling when the terrorists fight back with… Wait, she is already done fighting? It has only been less than a minute since she cleared out the first train! Did she seriously kick them all out of both trains that quickly after?!
[Well, that is about as fast as I could do it with just daggers. I think I still have time to spare.]
She lets out a sigh, and does a dainty little hop off the train, safely landing onto the tracks as if the law of inertia did not apply to her.
“I took everyone out, including the conductors, probably won’t be a problem that they are just speeding like that… Probably,” she remarks as she sees both trains trail off into the distance.
Her hand reaches up to her ear, in which a receiver is in place. “The job’s done, pick me up quickly now, I’m at…” She checks her watch, “… Well I can’t exactly read coordinates, I’ll just send them to you.”
“… Huh? What do you mean you can’t pick me up? Running low on fuel?? No, no, no! You flew here once, surely you can do it again, right??? You couldn’t possibly expect me to run that distance, right?!” She starts to become a little annoyed to whoever she is talking to, as she stomps on the ground.
“Alright, fine! But if I become late to training, it’s your head!” She furiously hangs up by throwing her receiver against the ground, and angrily groans. “Aagh! So annoying! And it’s so far away too!”
Without anything else to do, she immediately sprints off the train tracks and leaps onto the building, as she begins to parkour from building to building.
[My name is Vera, without a last name. Just turned 16 last month, and I am a pro assassin for the Chariot. Codename: Sirius.]
[Just earlier I was tasked with clearing up a group of nobodies that hijacked trains in Okonowa City, and it's all because of my assistant and some jerk that forgot to refuel the helicopter before dropping me off here that I will be late for hyperextension sets!]
In just a few minutes, she sees a large twin-blade VTOL helicopter hovering over a completely glass skyscraper. Her face grimaces as she sees just how high of a building she has to scale and the fact that its glass, but she does so anyway.
[But I won’t let them ruin my perfect record, because my reputation is above all else!]
While she is climbing using her daggers to literally dig into the glass, she begins to notice a couple police vehicles all the way below, even some police helicopters encircling her and her ride.
From one of the police helicopters a well-dressed police officer is standing inside one, holding a megaphone "We know what you are, you're an assassin aren't you?! Get down there or we'll use serious measures!"
All Vera does is look at him and stick her tongue out, continuing to climb up but at a faster pace.
The officer, now angered, puts away his megaphone and orders his men on his transceiver, "This is C.I Rihito, I give the orders to take her down!"
The police helicopters open their side doors, revealing some special assault officers on board, as they begin to open fire on Vera's position.
With confidence and pride on her face, she cackles with laughter, "Hahahaha! Alright, maybe I can have a little fun with these guys first..."
While dodging and weaving through the gunfire with ease, she sticks out her arm and thumb towards it and begins to observe something.
[That helicopter is approximately 54 meters away judging by my arm, and I am, I think, around 68 kilograms... Then I just have to exert this much force to reach it!]
After having done some serious calculations in her head, when one of her dodges prompts her to land both feet first onto the glass wall, she then leaps off of it and somehow manages to reach the nearest police helicopter that was pursuing her.
"What?!" The SAT officer on the helicopter yelps in surprise and fear, as Vera arrives onto the deck of the helicopter with a terrifying expression on her face.
She teases the officer by saying "Good thing we assassins aren't in the business of harassing the police, eh?" and proceeds to knock them out onto the floor with a throw.
"Remember this!" She points at herself with her thumb, "The Chariot is always watching, and is always in the service of all that is good!", in which she then laughs right after.
After the little prank she pulled, she faces the skyscraper again as she braces herself, and leaps once again! This time, her jump reaching a considerable height and just about leaving everyone else below. The second she touches the glass, she begins to climb it again using her daggers.
In just a few seconds, she finally reaches the top where her VTOL is waiting, and climbs onto it using the rope ladder provided.
When she finally takes a seat inside, she meets a beautifully dressed woman waiting, "We are glad for your safe and speedy return, Agent Sirius. How was the-
Vera immediately blows up in her face, "Jesse! Why'd you get this guy of all people for a ride if you knew he was running out of fuel?!"
"My sincerest apologies, Agent Sirius, but we have been limited to only a few-
"Alright fine, apology accepted! Just make sure that you can bring me back faster than we came here!" Vera replies in an annoyed and resigned voice, as she just crosses her arms and leans back on her seat.
Jesse, Vera's assistant, adjusts her glasses and presses the receiver in her ear, "Agent Sirius requests that we return ASAP. You will not be remunerated if you fail to return in within 5 minutes. That is all."
The VTOL starts to take off and propels itself forward with great speed. The police helicopters that were provoked earlier had just reached the top at this point, only to realize that they are long gone.
Chief Rihito, whose face is glowing red and steam practically pouring from his ears starts to go off. "Oh come on! You're telling me that we got another member of the Chariot get off scot free?! I swear, I am this close to just... Ugh, whatever! Return to base!"
Vera, whom is at this point just completely relaxed, starts to speak to her assistant. "Hey, Jesse, you know why I am being harsh on you guys?"
Jesse turns to Vera with a straight face. "Yes, it is because you want the best out of every...
"Wrong! It's because this, all of this is a competition. I'm an assassin because it's my job, and as with all jobs the market will be very active for it and in this particular market, there are sharks everywhere ready to eat you alive if you don't keep up. I won't tolerate any mistake that can be fixed with a bit more preparation, got it?"
"... Understood, Agent Sirius. I will make note of that."
Vera smiles, as she closes her eyes.
[Now you see, I am clearly the one of the best in this industry. I got a reputation to uphold, and with that, I tell you right now that soon; I will become the greatest assassin in history!]
