The Feast

Luke woke up and the feast seemed to have already started. He could hear some music and the voice of people talking, he went out of the hut to be mesmerised by the ambience, Villagers eating, dancing, children running around. He had been too invested in the system to enjoy the new world he had been in, he stood there absorbing his surroundings.

"Hey, did you get a good rest?" Rigg asked him with a smile, Rigg was a good judge of character and could make out the emotion behind the smile on Luke’s face.

Luke made a subtle nod, Rigg asked him to walk along him and introduced him to the villagers who greeted him with warm smiles.

Luke had decided to go with the lost with no memories except his name route to explain his situation. Waking up in a grassfield lost with no memories, this would be a good cover for all his ignorance and questions.

He was currently in Jiji village which was on the eastern outskirts of the Aayu Kingdom beyond which was a forest. He had been lucky to not have gone the opposite direction as he would have died according to all the tales of monsters he heard from Rigg and the other villagers. Jiji village lived off the bounty of the forest and exported monster cores and other monster parts for clothing and weapons from the merchants of the kingdom.

Jiji did not have its own economy. It was like a big family, they shared food and everything was equally distributed and everyone had their own roles be it teaching the kids or cooking or hunting. They did have kingdom money that was used to trade with merchants.

The money was easy to understand.

10 copper pellets made a copper coin , 10 copper coins made a silver coin and so on.

Though a household's yearly income would be around 5-10 crystal coins a year, copper and silver was what was usually traded , gold and crystal was not a currency people used to trade in the markets and was used commonly in the richer sections of the society.

"Luke, you seem like a nice person, since there is no place you call home yet, would you like to settle here in this village?"

Luke almost choked on his food, this was an unexpected question.

“Thank you, but i think i would like to travel and explore the kingdom before i settle anywhere.”

Luke did his best to not offend Rigg, It was an invitation into his family, and Luke had seen how close they were but he would not want to stop his journey here he had barely seen or experienced this new world.

“Well do you have any documents on you? You won't be able to enter any big cities without proper documents, here take this seal and show it in any big city in the Aayu kingdom and you will be able to get documents made as a citizen of the Kingdom.”

“Thank you, I plan to head out with the merchant that will come next week.”

“Well till then you are part of the village and you will be one if you decide to come back.”

Luke was happy but Rigg was too trusting. It had barely been a day and Rigg was being very generous, Luke couldn't complain but he was worried about Rigg, Rigg would not survive on Earth with a personality like this, or maybe he was too used to the people of earth and this is how the people were here, only time would tell, for now he accepted Rigg’s generosity.
