There was once a Wizard, the mightiest Wizard in the world.
He secluded himself in his tower to plunder the mysteries of the Arcane, until one day, he gazed upon the world.
The Wizard was dismayed.
Plague, famine, monsters, tyrants, and all manner of horrors afflicted the people.
At once, he set out to offer relief.
Coming upon a village besieged by demons, he unleashed his might, and naught but ash remained.
He spared no expense or effort in aiding those he saved.
Constructs and summons rebuilt the village, his spells banished famine and disease, and all was good.
Until one day, it wasn't.
A local lord rode to the village with a regiment of knights and threatened the people.
Enraged by the one who sought to harm those under his protection, the Wizard slew the regiment where they stood.
The experience taught him that while he may have saved these people, others suffered as well.
He thus set out to expand and help even more people.
What was but one village became two, then three, then four, then towns and cities, and a nation went under his protection.
Again, he alleviated hunger and thirst and dispelled disease.
He crafted all manner of wonders for his people to enjoy, for their lives were short, and they should experience happiness now.
But though his kingdom was vast, it was not all-encompassing.
Others still languished under oppression, whether that oppression manifested as tyranny, disease, or lack.
He thus set out to expand his nation.
Having heard of the mighty Wizard's benevolence, many peoples welcomed his reign.
But not everyone was pleased.
For while the Wizard King's people prospered, he had no allies, only subjects.
Tyrant, Hero, Demon, God, Witch, Monster, or even fellow Wizard, some did not welcome the Wizard's rule. Whether they were born to power, took it, or earned it, they resisted his advance.
They failed.

Through arcane might, cunning, subversion of their subjects, or otherwise, the Wizard's expansion was not stopped.
His foes were subjugated. Some changed their minds, some were slain by the Wizard's power, and even the immortals were defeated. For even that which cannot die can be chained. Turned into fuel for his constructs, enslaved, or otherwise, that which lived forever served all the same.
The Wizard expanded from a region to a continent, and the world.
For a time, he was happy.
His people prospered, his reign was secure, and the world was his.
But his world was not the only one.
Thousands of worlds with even more people were out there, and they suffered outside of his enlightened rule.
Constructing portals, he set out to expand his empire.
Many opposed him.
Terrors from beyond the stars, Demon Lords, Monsters, Voidlings, Kings, Queens, and more resisted his advance.
And they failed.
Many fought his reign, and many fell to his legions, his power, and his will.
And though the Wizard aided many, a relative few suffered.
To bring a people under his rule, villages were tortured as an example.
To bring a nation to heel, cities were scorched.
And to conquer worlds, Kingdoms fell.
The big picture was beautiful, but on the Wizard's orders, smudges came to be.
The many prospered, but the few suffered atrocities.
Nevertheless, his empire's expansion was inexorable.
Though his foes were many, none were more challenging than his children.
For beyond inheriting their father's magic and mind, they inherited his ambition.
Not content to exist under their father's rule, they challenged him.
And they lost.
Though he loved his children and he wept, the Wizard loved himself more, and slew the life he helped bring into the world.
Though he suffered and inflicted tragedy, the Wizard's expansion never stopped.
And though he swore off procreation many times, he was made an oathbreaker just as many.
Until, one day, he decided to do something... different.
Instead of procreating the traditional way, he would design his child.
Thus, the secluded himself in his ritual chamber and arranged events to not be disturbed under any circumstances.
There, he constructed his child.
He used the essence of the mightiest creatures and his own to make a creature of supreme arcane power.
The child may even have had the potential to exceed his own might, but he would never be a threat.
Ingrained compulsions would ensure loyalty.
He would be treasured and treated well, but the potential for rebellion was non-existent.
After seven years and seven days, the Wizard left his creation in the ritual chamber and gazed upon his empire.
He was dismayed.
For while he had grown accustomed to only his own blood providing a true threat and having forgotten the powers outside his empire, they had not forgotten him.
Hero, Tyrant, God, Demon, Monster, and more knew that the Wizard's greed would never be satisfied. They saw what happened to other Kingdoms and knew they were next if they didn't act.
They waited for their opportunity... and took it.
When the Wizard secluded himself, they set out to tear apart his empire and prepared an ambush.
The Empire's people were slaughtered, monuments to arcane might were torn down, and the chained immortals were set free.
When the Wizard left his tower, they were ready.
The Wizard was not.
He was mighty, but caught off guard, and having not been truly challenged for a long, long time, he was immediately on the backfoot.
World's were scorched, the ruins of the Wizard's fallen cities were further destroyed as were those of his adversaries.
Millions died, the Wizard's foes fell, but they were many.
For a year and a day, the Ruler of Worlds fought his mighty foes. But despite his immense might and magical expertise, he was slain.
World's trembled, billions were driven to madness, and cities died. But despite the Wizard's power, he was slain.
Reality fractured and crumbled, gaping cracks marring existence. But despite his conquests, the Wizard was slain.
And through these cracks in reality, the child the wizard lost his star-spanning empire to craft, fell.
