The flight took a few hours before we finally landed in the area full of bushes, and not just far away, I see that they set up tents in our regular place. It feels like the first time I was on the spot, only that the tent is much larger than before.
Out of the tent, a dozen-arms and six-eyed octopus-like came out, I guess no more than my partner in the work where I would work with him today.
"Nice to meet you, I Crigis, archaeologist of the place for today"
"I'm a Drax historian, Thaumaturgist. It's nice to meet" I replied.
"Excellent, this is exactly the guy we need today," said happily that they already discovered someone interesting: "Come, we have a lot to discuss and plan today"
We have just entered the tent and there we have been waiting for a large group of workers from every shape of shapes and color, just waiting for the command and at the right moment to start working, but before that, I want to make sure everything is right:
"Well, then who is here today?" I asked
"Trix from Ferlth-De Union, Shade" Look at me a giant who is 6 times greater than me, black color like a shadow and with a gentle voice and with a delicate and agile body, than me it is one of the giants they talked about before
"Janje, Ferlth-De Union, Chiropterans" answered an armored high-end-like bat with wings that almost catch the entire tent. I feel like I'm going to be pressured by them.
"We Crigis and Drax sent by the Mirtal Government, Larmyah" Crigis answered exactly what I wanted to answer.
After a quick silence that no one else in the tent, I started straight to deploy the map of the site we are in today, and the 2 guests just looked curiously as if they had never been.
"Well," I declared: "Today we have to explore the H-S 12. It was a place that has not been accessible so far because they have been protected by 'metal creatures', but these are already evidence that they were marketed from life by research done By our Mantodea Island members, now all we have left is to confirm and explore the area shortly"
Everyone who was around it seemed positive.
"If you happen to come across one alive, I think you know what to do"
"Indeed. We can just be able to crush them and later pick them up," answered Janje, enthusiastic.
"True, everything there has been a treasure that has helped us with technological advances for many years, and we are not ready to stop here. It's a Federation Council command and we don't want to disappoint them today, so go ahead, you know what to do!"
"Yes" the two giants came out of the tent while I and Crigis we were left to organize the maps and start staying on the findings they brought from the last trip to the ruins, and in the case, I passed by a strange metallic ball where locked behind a glass closet and it curious me:
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
"Crigis, what is the metal ball there?"
He looked around, checked that there was no one around as if it was a big secret that no one had to hear, and approached quietly:
"This is one of the first findings taken out of these holes. These are those giants from Ferlth-De Union who volunteered for the first time to clean the place and encountered this finding with other things. To be honest, I don't know what exactly it is "either
"Interesting, so why didn't you try to open it?"
"No one dared to deal with something that comes from a place where they are much overflowing in 'metal creatures', and compensate that it may be one of them, ha!" He giggled briefly before he began to show a serious face:
"But when I think about it. I think it's probably the time to try to decipher this core and try to find out what he's hiding"
"So are you going to break that?" I asked him
"You are crazy? And what if he hides something fragile and important, but we have no way to decipher it, so I think I might let you try to open it.
After all, this is your profession to ‘crack the secrets of magic and science’ haha! "He giggled as if it were funny, but I think I understand it.
"Fine, when I return to my lab. I'll try to find out what to do with it"
"This is the spirit I was looking for" he gave me the core without hesitation twice and went outside the tent as I continued to arrange the maps.
"I hope we will discover something interesting" I am imperative.
Later in the day, it was mostly to wait, arrange and organize the bedding that came from the ruins. As the giants marched deeper, I fiddled with a strange metal stick while Crigis gently cleaned out smaller finds from his arms. All in all, it took an entire day until they returned, empty-handed.
"A disappointing day, there was nothing there, not even a 'metal creature'" Janje turned to me as he moved work equipment, making noises every time he was moved: "We explored every corner of this sector, but there was nothing noticeable. Everything was already cleaned when we arrived."
"I was already expecting worse, but at least it's better already than fighting another metal creature" I replied
"So what sector next do you plan to investigate?" He asked
"I'm afraid it's the last sector in these ruins. We've been researching them for decades, and from what I've heard from Crigis, there have been no finds in recent raids."
"So that's it, we found out everything that was there?"
"Indeed, we will talk that no more discoveries will be found from there, we will need to continue to investigate the findings we have made there." I said as I wrote the working report for today. Just as I finished filling out all the stuff, Crigis came in and talked to the giants and straight away turned to me abruptly:
"Listen, they from above asked me to let you know that there's a Federation meeting coming up soon, and they want you to be accompanied by our representative there."
"what? why?"
"I do not know, I am not connected to these things, especially since today we finished checking every corner there" he noted while pouring himself a drink: "I'm not sure why they are holding this meeting so early than usual. I think something happened."
"But I'm not connected to all the political things they produce there" I said, but then I remembered that there might be something they need my opinion on: "But I think they need a magic-scientific opinion on something"
"True, there is no one who will stretch more than you on the subject of magical-scientific history" he laughs as I ask myself why they demand me.
I think I'll know I'll be back tomorrow. I took care of the last things and said goodbye to the rest that remained. After all, this is my last day there in these ruins, and the rest of the finds taken from there will be investigated by my team there. We'll see what they're hiding. Just as the airship landed and one of my co-workers stormed out of it, straight ran up to me: "I think we discovered something terrible"
