The Light (4)

The Light (4)

I rocketed through space at a dazzling pace; this time I could see stars and planets off in the distance, blinding lights on a backdrop of pure darkness. I wasn't in control of my movement anymore, but I could tell I was moving with a purpose, as if answering a call.

I had used the knowledge of the black particles to tear a hole in space and teleport myself, but it had taken almost everything I had. I hadn't thought of where, just instructed to be taken somewhere safe. When the black particles fused with me, I found out quite a bit about them. The things I had called particles and swarms were really just energy in a compact form corresponding with their colour. For example, blue particles were just energy that made up water, red made up fire, white made up wind. When the energy was given a command, it could weave its element into a physical form. Curiously enough, there were also some outliers.

For example, the energy that was now a part of me controlled space, but I couldn't give it a physical form because it was already everywhere. So what I did earlier was open a sort of door to another place, connecting them together. The black particles were fundamentally different from the other particles I had seen in how they existed everywhere. The other two outliers I noticed had been Light and Dark.

While the other particles had been in colors that helped separate them, these particles weren't colors per se; they were literal personifications of Light and Dark. I had always thought of Light as white and Dark as black but that wasn't right. Just looking at them you can tell that no matter how much light you try and shine on the Darkness, its look will never change and vise versa. Think of Darkness as a blacker black and Light as a whiter white; I think that's the best way to describe it? It really is hard to wrap my mind around, it's something you'd have to see to understand truly. They still existed within space, and I could tell they could also be turned solid if commanded.

When I teleported, I hadn't had a destination in mind and when I'd regained my consciousness, I was zooming through space at speeds I didn't even try to comprehend. The stars and planets whizzed past so fast I could barely even see the planets. Speaking of, I could see now. I'm not sure how; I mean as far as I could tell, I didn't even have eyes; I was just a ball of light. I think the reason I couldn't see before was that there was literally nothing except space in the other place, so there was nothing but the particles.

Even though I had been homeless the majority of my life, I had still seen one of those solar system models before, where the sun hangs in the middle and the plants around it. I must say everyone making those were liars; stars were absolutely massive. The planets were barely even visible in their orbit, maybe the earth was different than these planets, but really just the sun in those models should have been way bigger.

I felt like I was getting closer to whatever was drawing me in; it was like I was holding on to a thread and being pulled towards the source. Then, I slowed down significantly and a new star and planets came into view all at once. The star was the same massive size as the others I'd seen on my journey here; I looked right at it and was almost surprised that it hurt to look at it directly. I don't even have eyes and I still can't look at the sun? At least the planets were sufficiently not blinding.

I ascended towards a planet filled with greens and blues; it actually looked a lot like earth but had just three major landmasses visible from my position. Two of the three were larger and directly across from each other, while the third hung below and was significantly smaller. I seemed to be descending towards the largest continent, one directly to the left of the second largest. Eventually, I made it to an aerial view of what appeared to be a city overlooked by a massive lake. The lake appeared entirely clear, and with my current vision, I could spot fish and other creatures swimming in the water. I saw frogs, turtles, fish with the head of a dog, beave- wait what. I did a double-take and saw a fish that must have been the size of a cow with a canine head. It had two pointy teeth poking out of the corners of its mouth and an odd teal color, making it sort of blend in with the almost entirely clear water it lived in.

While I was busy admiring the odd-looking fish I had made it to the other end of the city, this area seemed higher end, with streets bustling with street vendors selling various goods on either side. In the middle of the street was a carriage being pulled by what looked like a cross between a rhino and a dinosaur. The creature was easily twenty feet tall and as wide as the carriage it was pulling; a man sat on the neck of the rhinodino with two velvet threads held in each hand. I noticed surprisedly that a man was standing on top of the carriage; He was about six feet tall with black hair whipping wildly on his head in every direction.

Now I may not know much of anything about carriages, but I was certain you were supposed to sit inside them, not stand on top. That would have been weird enough on its own if the man hadn't been staring right at me with sharp golden eyes and a smile on his face. I opened my sixth sense that allowed me to see particles of energy and was instantly overwhelmed at the sheer volume of white and blue coming off the man in waves. All the particles around him seem to be in constant motion, cycling around his body in a neverending loop; there was something refined about the way they moved that I'd never seen before. It was as if the particles were just another part of him; none ever broke their circular formation around his body for even a second.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

There was something warm in his gaze that I couldn't quite place as I zipped past him towards the end of the city. I winded down the round until I found myself once more by the edge of the clear lake, the road extended into the lake towards a small island. On the island was a massive gated estate that looked like a place I'd only ever dreamed of. The mansion was rectangular in shape and was colored black and green with symmetrical glass panes on either side of the door. I floated over the gate and closer to the monumental building; I was still high enough to see the lake extend outwards on all sides and a well-maintained garden in the backyard. I was still not in control of my movement, so I was surprised when I drifted through the roof of the mansion and into a sizable room with a king-sized bed and no less than four women in maid costumes crowding around a woman who lay on the bed.

The woman on the bed was pale and obviously very pregnant. She seemed relatively tall for a female, with long light brown hair extending all the way to her thighs; she had a small nose with soft light brown eyes. I kept drifting down until I zipped right into her bloated stomach and suddenly felt woozy. From the amount it had happened to me up until this point, I knew what was coming. My last thought before losing consciousness was that I really needed to stop blacking out.

I awoke to the smiling face of the woman who had been on the bed, who at this point was clearly my mother. Looking at her like this, there was something beautiful and calming about her. My instincts screamed at me to stay with her. I tried to say hello only to hear a high-pitched wail instead; my mother looked down at me and raised a finger to my little hand. Before I realized it, I was gripping her finger with all five of my tiny baby fingers like she was the only thing tethering me to this world. She saw me grip her finger and let out a small giggle before pulling me closer to her chest. While It seemed I still had the memories of a sixteen-year-old boy, I thankfully felt zero attraction at being pressed into her; that would have been so weird I'd probably die of embarrassment. I closed my eyes and heard myself let out a happy-sounding cry; if I had better control of my motor functions I'd probably be smiling uncontrollably right now.

Reflecting on my life until this point I realized I had nothing left in my previous life. I had read novels where the main character dies before reincarnating into a fantasy world and always hated how the main characters rarely thought about going back to the family they left behind. While reading them I could never imagine myself leaving Jerry behind and forgetting about him just to be stupidly OP and dense around every female in existence. But now that it had actually happened and Jerry was gone, I had nothing left in my old world. I had no friends and no purpose; is all I had done all day was fight, cook, and read. Now that I had a second chance, I would make sure to cherish the family I'd been given; looking at my mother's face had been all the confirmation I needed to know I'd have to do anything I could to protect her.

My mother pulled me away from her chest before holding me out to one of the women dressed in a maid costume on the side of the bed.

"XXXX XXXX XXXX." Said my mother to the maid. I had zero ideas what was said, but the maid seemed happy to hear it and smiled at my mother before plucking me out of her hands and holding me to her sizable chest. I noticed I was wrapped in an off-white towel stained with blood. She took the towel off of me, exposing my body to the air before wrapping me in a fresh navy-blue cloth. She supported my head in one hand and my back with another and slowly rocked me back and forth. She began humming a calming lullaby to me and I couldn't help thinking that despite my being sixteen that this was truly the easy life. I clearly lived in a massive house, in a world with reality-altering particles and what seemed like a loving mother.

I was snapped out of my pleasant thoughts by the door of the room swinging open, and a nervous-looking bear of a man walked through. He was at least six foot four with black hair and golden eyes, looking suspiciously like the man who had been standing on the carriage. The only difference being was this man was much taller and much more nervous looking; he also had sharper features and a hawk-like nose. He took a few powerful strides towards the maid girl currently holding me.

"XXX XX XXX XX" He spoke to the maid girl before reaching out his hands towards me. I was once again unsure what was said but felt a little excited to learn the new language; if I could learn to speak, I could learn about the people around me and why we seemed to live in a mansion on an island surrounded by clear water. I felt a connection to the man now holding me to his chest and had a feeling it was my father; while the connection was not as strong as it was with my mother, it was there nonetheless. My father held me out in front of him, and I suddenly felt my head start to tip me over backward. My body wasn't yet strong enough to support my head on its own and my father did not put out a hand to support my head, much to the displeasure of the maid girl who held my head up and said a few words in the foreign language that did not sound polite.

The door opened once more and a man walked in holding a young-looking toddler in his hands. From up close, I could see his sharp golden eyes and six-foot frame much clearer; he had a small beard on his face and was very much so the man who had been standing on the carriage. The man set down the toddler to one of the other three maid girls and turned to stare directly at me.
