Chapter 9 Fighting

He had merged the two spiritual sources, and his increased strength finally broke out at this moment.

The corpse monster was lifted by Ethan, and its hands were still pinching his neck, but its strength was slightly weak. Ethan took the opportunity to grab these hands and pulled them with all his strength, finally pulling them away from his neck. The neck was pulled apart.

Finally free from its control, Ethan took a breath and recovered.

He pressed his right foot toward the ground and then rushed up.

In turn, he suppressed the corpse monster and lifted the hammer with his right hand from top to bottom.

With a heavy hammer, it struck the corpse monster's head and face.

With a "porch" sound, the flesh and blood mixed with a ball of white slurry and splashed out. The corpse monster instantly stiffened, and its forehead sank deeply.

Ethan's hammer came down, and with his three hundred catties of strength, a few more blows smashed the corpse monster's head, leaving half its face gone.

It wasn't until the corpse monster stiffened and collapsed to the ground that Ethan stopped, breathing heavily.

He watched as the white fur on the corpse monster's skin shrank into its body. Soon, a ball of white fur appeared and shot toward Ethan's forehead.

With the experience of the previous two times, this time, not only did Ethan not feel afraid, but he faintly expected it, because every time he absorbed a white ball, his strength increased.

The white velvet ball hit his forehead and penetrated into his body, turning into a mass of heat flowing through him, making his entire body feel as if it was immersed in a hot spring, especially his neck, which had just been injured by the corpse monster.

The injury was severe.

At this moment, the heat flow in his neck was the most obvious.

There was a large amount of heat flowing through it, as if undergoing treatment.

It lasted about two or three seconds before the heat flow suddenly disappeared, and then Ethan felt something inside his body.

A new force was growing.

His strength increased again, and the discomfort from his difficulty in breathing disappeared, returning him to his previous normal state.

Ethan knew that the wound he had just sustained on his neck had healed.

A new message appeared in his mind again:

"Jack: 35."

With a heavy breath in his mouth, Ethan, still holding the kitchen knife and the hammer, was about to stand up slowly when suddenly there was a cracking sound of window glass from the balcony in the living room.

Ethan immediately turned around and rushed out to check.

With the experience from the previous encounters, Ethan was now much calmer. He quickly reached the living room, glanced at the balcony, and couldn't help but take a sharp breath.

The window glass of the balcony was shattered. At this moment, two corpse monsters were crawling in through the window.

Ethan never expected two corpse monsters would appear this time.

In the faint starlight outside, Ethan could barely make out that the two corpse monsters had once been a woman in her fifties and a man in his thirties, but they were now swollen and white from being soaked in water. Their exposed skin had fluffy white hairs growing on it.

Their speed and movement weren't slow.

Just a second or two after Ethan heard the noise, they had already crawled mostly inside the living room.

Ethan knew this wasn't good. Facing two corpse monsters simultaneously would be extremely troublesome. He wasn't confident about taking them both on at the same time.

He sprinted forward at full speed, hoping to strike before the monsters fully entered and while their movement was still hindered.

With three spiritual sources in his body, Ethan's strength had increased by more than a hundred catties, and his speed had improved significantly. In an instant, he rushed to the balcony, swinging the hammer toward the fifty-year-old woman.

Though he struck quickly, the corpse monster dodged just as fast, jerking its head aside, so the hammer landed heavily on her shoulder.

Her shoulder immediately collapsed, and her body, which had been crawling inside, stopped for a moment, but the corpse monster felt no pain. She opened her mouth and reached out to grab Ethan.

The kitchen knife in Ethan's other hand came down, slashing across the woman's swollen face.

Her face had become shiny and bloated from the water, and the kitchen knife sank into it. Ethan saw one of her eyeballs bulge due to the force and pressure from the knife, nearly popping out of its socket.

Just as Ethan slashed at the woman's face, the man in his thirties crawled fully inside through the other window. He moved fast, pushing off the windowsill and launching himself at Ethan.

His movements no longer resembled the rigid, sluggishness of previous corpse monsters. He was just as agile as Ethan.

Ethan didn't have time to dodge.

The man collided with him, and Ethan felt a surge of power hit him.

He couldn't maintain his footing, let out a muffled grunt, and was knocked aside.

At almost the same moment, there was a loud splash outside the balcony, and water splattered everywhere.

Ethan was close enough to catch a glimpse of a huge black shadow bursting out of the water.

The woman in her fifties, still hanging halfway out of the window, was suddenly dragged into the water with a splash.

In the midst of the splashing water, Ethan didn't have time to take a closer look. All he saw was the woman's body vanishing beneath the surface.

Everything happened so suddenly, leaving Ethan's heart pounding in fear. Even the thirty-something man, the other corpse monster, stopped in his tracks, as if startled by what had just happened.

For a brief moment, the man's movements slowed.

How could Ethan miss such an opportunity? While retreating, he kicked off the wall behind him. Using the momentum, he charged forward, slashing the kitchen knife toward the man.

This thirty-something man wasn't as stiff as previous corpse monsters, though.

He reacted just as the kitchen knife was about to strike his face.

He raised his upper body slightly, narrowly avoiding the blade, but not completely.

The knife still sliced through his chest, cutting deep into his abdomen.

The corpse monster's chest was nearly split open, but it felt no pain and continued to counterattack. His right arm swept across, his palm striking Ethan's left cheek heavily.

The force of the blow was so strong that Ethan felt as if he had been hit by a hammer. His head buzzed, half his face went numb, and blood poured from his nose. Tears from his left eye blurred his vision.

The corpse monster before him was terrifying-far more dangerous than the monster he had just faced in the bedroom.
