Ch1. Gotta Start Somewhere

Ch1. Gotta Start Somewhere

It was another sleepless night.

What a surprise. Not really.

He couldn’t remember the last time sleep came easy.

The endless hours of laying there…waiting…

Waiting for the nauseous exhaustion to knock him out into a relieving silence that seems to end in mere seconds.

Next thing he knows, it’s already noon.

Time to get up.

Eat, school, work, back to laying in bed for hours trying to reach that elusive silence. Repeat.

He’s tired.

Exhaustion seeped into every crevice of his being and settled in.

Just the other day he accidentally stapled a finger and stared at it in confusion. He could barely register the pain. Actually felt more interest in the sudden intrusion in his otherwise mundane life. A pinprick of light that broke through the cloud of numbness and routine.

He likes routine.

It keeps his anxiety at bay. Somewhat anyways.

At this point he takes anything he can get.

He’s always been a pessimistic guy but he finds the urge to be optimistic at times.

It’s not a bad life…

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

He reminds himself.

Lately he’s caught himself staring off in silence regretting the things he didn’t do and should have done differently.

What a waste of time.

But he can’t help wishing…

If only…

********

Darkness.

Wow so it’s straight to the darkness.

Not even a car accident first huh. Or some other unoriginal way to die.

Next.

Tom was not feeling patient or generous today. He scrolled through the new section hoping to find something with potential. Although when he does, he usually regrets finding something so early on.

The lack of chapters and the waiting drives him nuts. A real test for his lack of patience. However, it is something to look forward to everyday.

A finger twitched as he remembered the frustration when the stories he so looked forward to got dropped. Forgotten.

That’s it. Enough for today.

This is a divine sign for him to take a break.

Maybe hop on a game of [game]?

Good idea.

He started up his computer.

It didn’t start.

Tf. Please don’t die on me.

What a shitty day.

He took a deep breath and counted to 10.

Let’s try again.

Click.

Darkness.

Just kidding. The irony though if that was the case. He could already imagine someone out there amused at the karma at his expense of course. Always someone ready to laugh at others’ suffering.

He stared at the body laying on the floor covered in burn marks as he floated in the air.

Yup. He died.

The computer exploded it seems.

How unfortunate. At least he doesn’t have to cram that essay last minute like he thought he would.

Why am I not freaking out yet? Hello self, you’re dead. Did the brain get cooked by the heat or something?

[Brain condition: 5/100]

[needs rest. Update downloaded. Restart required.]

Hmmm. Interesting.

Well anything is better than staring at his corpse.

Restart.

Darkness.

-_-

You’re kidding me.
