Chapter 2: Heir To The Damned

Chapter 2: Heir To The Damned

Augur 11th, 223

Transylvania

Before the great war

My eyes popped open to the sight of a pair of ruby red gems glowing in the dark. My brow furrowed in confusion as my eyes fully adjusted to the dark. The queen leaned over me, her raven black hair dangled loosely like a curtain. I couldn't help but let my eyes drift down toward her breasts, which were half exposed. The silky midnight blue gown she wore left very little to the imagination.

A soft giggle escaped her from beneath her plush lips, “Enthralled are we, pet?”

I tried to speak, but all I could do was open and close my mouth.

She drew closer to me, her lips mere centimeters from my ear.

“Do you want me?” The hushed whisper filled me with a mixture of fear and excitement.

A shiver ran down my spine. I wanted to speak up and say yes. I wanted to tell her of the animalistic craving that lurked deep within my corrupted soul. I, however, decided to avert my gaze and hold back my thoughts.

She grabbed my face with one hand and forced me to look her in the eyes, “Such a shy little pet. Fortunately for you, I'm only teasing.”

The queen sat up straight and looked toward the bright orange moon. The soft glow only on her face only added to her beauty. At this moment I don't know what came over me, but I reached up and gently brushed her hair behind her ear. It felt like I had no control over my own body.

She glanced at me out of the corner of her eyes, “You do know touching me is a crime punishable by death.”

I snatched my hand back, “I'm sorry my queen. I, uh… I don't know what came over me.”

She rolled her eyes, and faced me, “I said it is punishable, not that you will be punished,” she wrapped her slender fingers around mine and brought my hand to her cheek.

“It's been a while since I've had affection,” she said as she nuzzled my palm.

I wasn't sure what to do, so I left my hand firmly in place, “I'm happy to be of service to you.”

She let out a small sigh, “You can drop all the formalities, pet. We're in the confines of your room, which means you are free to speak to me like a friend.”

“Very well,” I said before taking a brief pause to think about what to say next, “What are you doing in my room?” I asked to be on the safe side.

“I'm the queen, love. I do as I please. This also happens to be my castle,” she said before standing and beckoning me to follow her, “Come with me. I’d like to show you something.”

I hesitated to get out of bed because the only thing keeping my dignity in check was the silky black sheets. The queen lifted her eyebrow with a questioning look on her face.

“Sorry milady, I'm indecent at this time. With a few moments of privacy I'll be ready to follow you wherever you go,” I said, answering the unspoken question.

She gave me a half smile, something devilish lurking in her eyes, “I'm not opposed to a naked stroll through the castle under the light of the moon.”

Once again I was speechless, and if I were still able to blush, I'm sure my entire face would be glowing bright red. Her incessant teasing had me beyond confused. I didn't know if I should tease back, make a move and try to fuck her, or remember my place as nothing more than a lowly servant. Our eyes locked for a moment, and there I could see a small glint of hope lurking behind her strong persona. She wanted me to take the offer, but deep down I knew I couldn't accept.

“I don't think your other servants would find that becoming of a queen and her advisor. Furthermore, I'd love to keep my head attached to my shoulders,” I stated, doing my best to reject her without rejecting her.

She shrugged, “Very well, I'll wait outside your door. Don't keep me waiting too long, Silus.”

She exited the rook leaving me alone with the soft orange glow of moonlight.

I shivered at the sound of my name rolling off her tongue. Something about her just made my blood boil in all the right ways. My eyes drifted down to where my hands rested between my thighs. I removed them to uncover the massive erection hiding underneath. I let out a curse in the ancient language, before hopping up from my bed and getting dressed. I put on a pair of black trousers and a white linen shirt that I neglected to tuck.

I pulled open my door to find the queen leaning against the wall opposite my room. She gave me a quick look up and down followed by another one of her beautiful smiles. Her actions were beginning to become unnerving.

“Speaking freely, all the teasing and advances are beginning to scare me,” I said, breaking the silence.

She closed the distance between us and stared deep into my soul, “And why is that, pet?”

I leaned back slightly and averted my eyes, “Well, uh, for starters I don't even know your name. Also you are my queen and I am nothing more than a peasant to you…”

She cut me off by grabbing my jaw with an unimaginable force. Her face shifted from the soft beautiful being to that of a fierce predator. Her eyes turned completely black, and she bared her fangs.

“Listen and listen well Silus Bloodcroft. You are my personal advisor. You are a direct extension of myself. To call yourself a peasant is to call me one, so don't ever let me hear those words ever again or I'll rip your throat out.”

She released me with a light push causing me to hit the cold stone behind me. I truly felt fear seeing her like this. The queen closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. When she opened them again they were back to that beautiful shade of red.

“I'm sorry, pet. I don't know what came over me,” she held out her hand to gesture down the hallway, “Shall we continue with our late night stroll?”

I composed myself before nodding and saying, “Lead the way.”

“Excellent! Also my name is Tahmira,” she said before stepping off down the corridor.

I remained still for a moment to massage my jaw. If my skin could bruise my face would be black before the sun came up. The scariest part about the whole situation was that, that was only a small taste of the royal lineage's power.

“Pet, are you coming?” Tahmira called back to me.

“Yes,” I responded, before doing a small dash to catch up.

When I caught up to Tahmira, she wrapped her arms around mine and laid her head against my shoulder. I could feel her looking up at me as we walked, but I ignored the urge to steal a glance. Instead, I occupied my attention with the surrounding architecture and decor that lined the vacant halls. My resolve didn't last long because just like during the meeting her presence demanded attention. Peering at from the corner of my eyes, I could see her staring at me intently. Something in her gaze made me feel like a circus animal. She seemed mesmerized, but I didn't understand why. I also hated being the center of attention.

I cleared my throat and spoke in an attempt to refocus her attention, “Your castle has a very beautiful design.”

I wanted to slap myself in the face for saying such a dumb thing, but nonetheless, it achieved my goal.

She looked around as we passed by a set of stairs that lead down to the main entrance.

“You really think so? I've always felt the place was rather dull. Outdated if you will,” she responded.

I rubbed the back of my neck before I rebuttal her statement, “Before I became a vampire, I was an apprentice to a master Mason. I study a variety of architecture, and so far I've never seen a place so perfectly put together.”

She looked at me with an amused grin, “You really are fascinating. The more I learn about you the more intrigued I become.”

“I don't think of myself as fascinating,” I responded plainly.

She returned her gaze to me, “A young vampire that can stand up in a room full of vampires far more mature and powerful than themselves, and speak out against the queen's advisor. I'd say you're more than fascinating.”

“I think you'd be the only one.” I replied.

“Hush, pet,” she said as she led me through a door on the farside of the castle.

Through this door was a large spiraling staircase that went up to the top of an extremely tall tower.

“So why did you make me your advisor?” I asked as we began our ascent of the black marble tower.

“You mean besides your courage and ability to think through things rationally?” she asked in return.

I lifted an eyebrow at her response and said, “Uh, sure.”

She lowered her voice to a whisper as if anyone could hear us, “Don't tell anyone, but I've been meaning to remove Sar for a long time.”

“Why not pick someone from among the council?” I asked curiously.

“At the end of the day, I can't trust any of them. They all seek to gain more power, and they all pray for my downfall. I also needed a new perspective, and you were the perfect candidate,” she answered nonchalantly.

“Did that also make me the perfect candidate for being your new plaything?” I asked jokingly.

She playfully smacked my chest. “You're not my play thing. You're my advisor. The most trusted person in my company.”

“Then why all the teasing, milady?”

She cocked her head at my question. “Because you belong to me now, and as I said, there's just something about you.”

Before I could respond, she unraveled her arms and rushed up the remaining few stairs to a large wooden door. She burst through it and disappeared on the other side. When I finally reached the top, I found her leaning against the stone railing of a balcony. Her hair and gown rustled in the wind as she stared down at the giant city below. I watched her, taking in the sight of her exquisite appearance. A prize that anyone would kill for.

She looked back at me and motioned for me to join her. I answered her request and took up residence beside her.

She wrapped her fingers around mine and said, “Isn't it just beautiful? A whole world of vampires living as one. All Thriving for a better future.”

“Yes, it is,” I responded as I gazed at the quiet city below.

She looked over to me, a pleading look in her eyes, “They're counting on you Silus. I'm counting on you. We all need you to lead us into a promising future. I may be the queen, but this kingdom is now just as much yours as it is mine.”

A huge burden has been placed on my shoulders. A burden that I wasn't confident I could bear. I always told my father that I hated the political world, and now I'm the heir to it all. All because I couldn't keep my damn mouth shut. I clenched my jaw because I could feel the whole world staring at me. I put myself right in the middle of a giant chess game, and as of now I'm the most important piece. I alone will either lead the vampiric world into a new age, or be its ultimate downfall. Fuck the gods and their sick humor.
