Some Old Friends

Outskirts of NightWing VIllage, Rainwing Forest, Pyrrhia

Deathbringer and Glory had gone ahead so the NIghtWings did not get startled by the sudden appearance of 60 ton war machines rumbling through their village. “Do you really trust these dragon's?” A soldier with the name (stitched on uniform) Jack asked me. “Yeah they've helped me through a lot and saved my sorry ass countless times” I told Jack. “If you say so,” Jack replied. Right as I was wondering if he was being sarcastic Glory came back. “You guys are clear to go, the NIght Wings wont attack you” She said. “Thanks Glory” I said. “Just call us Germans.” A voice said. I looked and saw it came from another German tank commander but this one seemed to have a lower rank but I noticed he had several legion flags on his tank most likely each being a soviet tank his crew knocked out. “Fine I will call you guys Germans” The tank commander said. “So you are the soldier from Vietnam,” The German man said. “That's me, Alex Sharpe 101st Airborne” I told him. “And you are?” I asked. “Ah forgive me for not introducing myself. I am Unteroffizer Lukas Muller from the Bundeswehr but you can call me Lukas ” Lukas told me.

“Will do Lukas, do you know what the battle plan is?” I asked Lukas.

“As of yet I am not sure but I must get going to meet up with my troops” Lukas told me then went back to his group. I hopped on an m1a2 Abrams and sat down wondering what the future had in store for me. When we finally got into the NightWing village I saw that most of the dragon's were on the sides watching our convoy roll past. I noticed a familiar face and hopped off the tank walking over to Peacemaker and Hope. “It is nice to see you Alex,” Hope told me. “It's nice to both of you too. How is life in the NightWing village?” I asked her. “Would be calm and peaceful if this one wasn't always running around” Hope said while looking at Peacemaker. “More scavenger friends?” Peacemaker asked. I laughed at that then replied to him. “I'm sorry Peace(I'm not gonna be always typing Peacemaker now his nickname is Peace that's final) but those guys are soldiers from my country and another country allied with mine. They are too busy to become your friends. Now why don't you go play with your NightWing friends?” I asked Peace. “They are boring, you scavengers are fun and I get strawberry treats,” Peace told me. Me and Hope laughed at what he said before I said goodbye and hopped onto a Bradley fighting vehicle. I kept thinking about just how time had passed back home. Things like tanks and armored vehicles had improved since the vietnam war. Then the latest tank was the m48a3 now it was a beast called the AbramX. I heard a commotion up ahead and saw that a dragon's food cart had spilled in the road. I watched some soldiers help the dragon gather all the food together and lift up the cart. Once the way was cleared the tanks started moving again. After several hours we reached the edge of the Rainforest and stopped. Some communications officers radioed to command asking for orders. We quickly got a response back on what to do. We were to head to the Indestructible City in the morning. RIght then a pale skywing landed and a girl hopped off. I noticed several soldiers train their guns on the girl but I told them to lower their arms and how she was a friend. While they lowered their guns some looked at her with suspicion.I left the bushes we were hidden behind and walked up to her and gave her a hug. Once I let go I started talking. “It is nice to see you again Wren” I told Wren. “Same for you Alex now, I was told you were coming with other people where are they?” Wren asked me. “You can come out guys!” I shouted back. Immediately an Abrams tank and Bradley left the bush cover and entered the clearing. Wren seemed to be startled by the war machine's sudden appearance. “How are those things moving without horses?” Wren asked me. “Engineering and maybe a little science,” I told Wren. Sky seemed very interested in the Bradley looking at all of it. I realized Cricket would probably have a heart attack when she saw all the Nato equipment and personnel. I decided that I would probably gradually show her what Nato had to offer. After Wren talked with some soldiers we set up camp and headed to sleep.

The Indestructible City

Early in the morning we packed up our tents and sleeping bags and put them in some cargo trucks we brought solely to carry our essentials. Then we cooked up some mres and had breakfast. Wren had tried an mre and seemed to dislike the lack of taste. She had spat out some food because she had not warmed it up which caused some of the men to laugh. One of the female soldiers showed her how to cook it. After that we set out for the Indestructible CIty. We passed a couple small villages but other than that we didn't encounter any settlements. We heard the roar of a fighter jet and saw some f-16’s flying by doing reconnaissance missions most likely to make sure no soviets were in our territory. Eventually we reached the Indestructible city. The convoy stopped and hid in a patch of trees. Me, Wren and some German troops walked out to head to the city. I was shocked by how long the line to enter the city was. These people were determined to get there and from what Wren has told me most times you have to wait weeks on end to get in the city. I was thankful it barely takes any time to enter a city back home. I saw some of the people looking at us with curiosity most likely due to us having a much lighter skin tone and wearing outfits that would seem very weird and alien to them. I heard someone call Wren's name and turned to see a boy running over with a very fat cat in his arms and being followed by some knights. “Wren you cant be here you gotta leave” I heard the boy I assumed to be Undauntable say. “Not the reaction I was expecting but we're here to talk to your father,” Wren told him. Right as he was about to respond one of the knights grabbed Wren's arm and started pulling her. “Hey let go of me” Wren Shouted. I aimed my M16 at the knight holding her and saw the other Germans doing the same. “Let go of her or I will kill you” I told the knight. I saw him barely glance up and when he did I heard an amused scoff probably thinking my gun was just some weird stick. I decided to show them who's really the most powerful. Before I could shoot him I heard some rumbling and turned to see an AbramX come around the corner with its turret aimed at the knights. The tank definitely startled and scared the knights as they started freaking out when they saw it. Surprisingly while freaking out the knight still kept a tight hold of wren. I aimed and shot at him, getting a headshot point blank. I watched as he dropped to the ground and saw the blood pooling out of his helmet. I immediately grabbed Wren and brought her back to our side. Once the soldiers noticed what I had done they started drawing swords and charging at me. That was until a shot from the AbramX killed them all. All I could hear were my ears ringing after the shot and decided to head back to the convoy as there was no chance we could establish peaceful negotiations now. I saw that Undauntable boy knocked unconscious and decided to leave him be. I could see more knights rushing towards my position. But then everything stopped when I heard the roar. It was too loud to be a dragon but I recognized it from some videos shown to me about the equipment used by the soviets. I watched the AbramX rush to cover as I saw the Su-57 Felons fly past at a speed probably over Mach 2. They were flying low though and I felt the blast of air from the engines knocking me over. They didn't seem to notice us or the tank so we were probably safe. The roar of the fighter jets seemed to scare everyone. We headed back to the convoy and radioed command about our situation. After a while we received our new orders. We were to head north to the sky wing palace. When Wren heard that she asked if we could stop by her village which was on the way. Command agreed with us stopping at Talisman Village and said we should see if we could set up an outpost there. Wren got happy at that and gave me a hug. I could understand her happiness, ever since she exposed the elders, her relationship with her family had improved a lot and she didn't hate them anymore. After a couple of minutes we crossed the Winding Tail River and headed to the Sky Wing Palace.

Carrier Strike Group

Aboard USS Gerald R. Ford

Captain David Smith looked out the window at the strike group. At the middle of the carrier strike group the captain of the Gerald R. Ford Carrier was able to see what was ahead of him and to the sides. It was refreshing seeing something that wasn't a rocky island or water after a long journey. He had been told to make landfall here by his superiors and contact several dragon's. With him was a translator, one of few considering just how recently they had come in contact with dragons. The notes from Alex Sharpe had helped a lot with translation but it would take time for most to master the language. A voice disturbed him from his pondering. “The Osprey is ready for you captain,” David's second in command told him. “Thank you Jack,” David said. “Come on Jason,” David said. The translator Jason nodded and followed him through the carrier's bridge and down to the flight deck. Up ahead David could see a V-22 Osprey preparing to take off with a dozen marines inside waiting for him. He also saw the two F-35s that would be escorting his flight. Inside the helicopter he could see a juggernaut sitting down with an m134 on their lap. The juggernaut program was rather new but had seen much success in its survivability and life support tests and was now being tested in combat. Once David and Jason had sat down the heli ramp went up and they took off. The flight was rather quick but the view was amazing. David could see all the different “hives” and they really did look like beehives. David had not realized the V-22 had started its descent till the ramp lowered and Jason tapped him on the shoulder. He saw the two F-35s head back to the carrier to await their next instructions. When he turned around he saw a blue 4-winged dragon and a golden one with glasses looking at him. David readjusted his Captains hat and started walking towards them. The gold one “Cricket” he believed she was called was looking with curiosity at the V-22 while the blue silkwing “Blue" he believed his name was, watched him. The gold dragon started speaking in dragon and David patiently waited for Hason to translate. “Cricket says she's amazed “reading monkeys” can fly and would like to know how the V-22 works” Jason translated. “Tell her she can learn that later right now we need to continue with our mission of setting up a base on this continent. Ask Cricket about that Sundew dragon as she is the one we really need to talk with” David ordered Jason. Jason complied and started talking to Cricket after they went back and forth a couple times Jason finished talking to the dragon and looked at Captain David. “She says we need to follow her, sir, all the way to the jungle so we will need to ride in the helicopter.” Jason said. “Very well, Marines get back in the helicopter and tell the pilot to be prepared to take us to the jungle” David said. After several salutes David watched the marines head back into the V-22 and saw the dragon's rise up and start flying. David got in and felt the V-22 take off. While the dragon's had the head start the v-22 had the speed and easily caught up. The V-22 could have passed them by but the dragon's were the ones who knew where Sundew was. After around 10 minutes of flying the two dragon's dived into the forest. The V-22 Pilots had to wait a bit looking for a landing zone when the trees somehow moved out of the way giving them enough space to land. David had heard from Alex’s reports that leafwings could control plant life but seeing it in person amazed him. Once the helicopter landed David, Jason and 4 Marines and the juggernaut got out of the helicopter and started walking to Cricket and Blue. Once the helicopter had landed the trees moved back to their original spot albeit some moved to a new spot to not damage the V-22. The Osprey’s pilots had stayed inside with the other 8 marines. David noticed a new dragon that was bright green. He assumed this one was Sundew based on all the pouches she wore. Jason introduced himself and the other marines and the captain. He saw the three dragon's talk to each other until Sundew walked forward and said something in quick and sharp growls. Jason turned around to translate for me and everyone else. “Sundew says we are welcome to stay here but we can't damage anything. She says there's an open field we can build a base at but we can't destroy any non-hostile plant life building it” Jason translated. “Very well tell her we are grateful she has agreed to this arrangement” I told Jason to translate. Jason did and SUndew seemed to almost smile probably due to us agreeing with her terms. We loaded back up in the Osprey and flew to the spot where we might build our base. When we got there I inspected the area and decided we could make a good base here. I set down some flares to mark where the base would be and for the other helicopters to land here to offload supplies. After a while I saw some Marine ACVs coming towards us. Once they reached us they stopped and the marines got out and started pitching tents and other equipment. I could see more Ospreys in the distance. I also could see the strike group albeit they looked pretty small. I heard one of the dragon's talk to Jason and then felt a pat on my shoulder. I looked to see it was Jason who put his hand on my shoulder. “Sundew is wondering about our plans here. Do you know what they are besides setting up a base?” Jason translated. “Tell her she has nothing to be concerned about. We are just here to set up a base for reconnaissance and to keep this area safe” I told him. Jason nodded and started translating to Sundew who quickly responded back. “She wants to know what you are keeping her and this continent safe from. Should I tell her about the Red Legion” Jason said. “No, not yet at least. Just tell her we're keeping this place safe from any possible threats” I told Jason. He started translating again and this time Sundew did not respond. After that I spent several more hours supervising the bases construction. By the end of the day we only had a makeshift barracks and kitchen with crates for other buildings spread out all over. I took an Osprey back to the carrier, ready to finally get some sleep.
