Wing Song
A Vision

A Vision

The first vision Martin saw was one he could not un-see. A man was standing on top of a large marble column, his amour glistening in the sun and his white wings waving about in the wind. He didn't have a helmet, thus only a chest plate and some boots.

. . .

Martin looked up at the column. It didn't look as nice as the vision had given him, for there were scratches and it was tilting. Martin looked to his side at a broken-down monument.

. . .

Men and women were screaming as cracks appeared beneath their feet and chasms opened up in the ground.

The monument, which had been so tall and elegant, was now crumbling away into rubble. The winged man, who Martin had seen earlier, waved his sword about defending everything he could. More winged soldiers were fighting off... Martin couldn't exactly see. He tried to focus more carefully on it, but all he could make out was a gigantic shape with claws that scraped the sky. Suddenly a tall brick tower came crashing down.

. . .

Martin looked up at now a brick tower on the ground crushed. A new vision came back to him.

. . .

A winged soldier was standing on another column just looking at the ongoing chaos. He had blond hair and blue eyes. The soldier took a deep breath and flew towards the large shape, which was swiping at every soldier who came near. The blond-haired soldier opened his mouth... and started to sing.

I have come

From far away

To have some peace

And rest again

I have come

To...

The rest of the song, Martin struggled to hear. It was almost as if someone was covering his ears. Then the vision went blurry. The last thing Martin saw, was a bright light filling the city he could make out more screams and then a great explosion.

Martin opened his eyes. Everything was silent. Everything was still. Old buildings were torn down ancient ruins were scattered everywhere. Martin took a step towards an old fountain to take a drink from it, but when he peered inside, the water had vanished.

Martin looked up at the misty fog that stretched out across the entire ruined city.

Suddenly he bumped into something hard. He looked down. It was the statue of a Winged Soldier.
