Chapter 23: The Road to the Fire Realm

Chapter 23: The Road to the Fire Realm

The journey to Pyreflame, the city of fire, was grueling. The terrain grew harsher with each step, the air

thick with heat and ash as rivers of molten lava snaked through jagged black rocks. The group pushed

onward, their spirits bolstered by their victory in the Abyssal Trench but wary of what challenges lay ahead

in this volcanic region.

As they stopped to rest on a rocky outcrop overlooking a lava flow, Darumu found her moment.

Kira sat away from the group, gazing at the distant city of Pyreflame, its towering spires wreathed in

shimmering heat. His mind was lost in thought when Darumu approached, her steps light but purposeful.

“You’ve been quiet,” she said, sitting beside him.

Kira glanced at her and smiled faintly. “Just thinking about what’s next. This place feels… alive, like it’s

watching us.”

Darumu smirked. “And here I thought you were thinking about me.”

Kira blinked, caught off guard. “W-What?”

Darumu leaned in, her warm breath tickling his ear. “You heard me. Don’t play dumb, Arcane Swordsman.

I’ve seen the way you look at me.”

He turned to face her, his cheeks burning as much from her words as the heat of the volcanic air. “Darumu,

I—”

She placed a finger on his lips, silencing him. “Let me finish. You’ve saved my life more times than I can

count, and I’ve seen how much you care—not just about me, but about all of us. You’re not just some

summoner from another world. You’re our Kira. And I…”

Her voice softened, her usual bravado replaced by vulnerability. “I’m falling for you.”

Kira’s heart raced. “Darumu, I—”

Before he could respond, Selvi’s voice cut through the moment.

“Kira! Darumu! What are you two doing over there?”

Selvi and Mira approached, their faces betraying a mix of curiosity and suspicion. Selvi crossed her arms,

glaring at Darumu. “You better not be trying to hog him all to yourself.”

Mira, always the calm one, blushed but nodded. “We’re all in this together, right?”

The next morning, as the group prepared to continue their journey, Darumu, Selvi, and Mira pulled Kira

aside.

Darumu took the lead, her usual confidence bolstered by the others’ agreement. “Kira, we’ve talked it over,

and we’ve made a decision.”

Kira raised an eyebrow, unsure where this was going. “A decision?”

Selvi stepped forward, her cheeks flushed but her voice firm. “We’re all in love with you, Kira. And instead

of fighting over you, we’ve decided we’re okay with… sharing.”

Mira blushed deeply, looking at the ground. “As long as you’re okay with it… we want to stay together, all of

us. As your wives.”

Kira’s jaw dropped. “W-Wives? All of you?”

Darumu smirked, crossing her arms. “Don’t act so surprised. You’re lucky to have us.”

Selvi jabbed him lightly in the chest. “Yeah, don’t even think about saying no!”

Mira gave him a shy smile. “We just… want to be with you, Kira. Always.”

Kira rubbed the back of his neck, overwhelmed but unable to stop the smile spreading across his face.

“You’re all crazy, you know that? But… I’d be an idiot to say no.”

The three girls cheered, each pulling him into a tight hug.

As they approached Pyreflame, the group’s dynamic had shifted. There was an unspoken bond between

them now, a sense of unity that made even the oppressive heat of the fire realm bearable.

The city itself was a marvel of engineering and magic, with buildings constructed from obsidian and

enchanted to withstand the heat. Lava channels ran through the streets, providing both warmth and light.

The people of Pyreflame were as fiery as their surroundings, their clothing often minimal due to the heat.

The group found an inn to stay at, its rooms cooled by magic. As they settled in, Lyria perched on a

windowsill in her dragon form, watching the city with interest.

“This place has secrets,” she said. “If the dark god has any influence here, it’ll be well-hidden.”

Darumu stretched, her toned body glistening with sweat from the journey. “Secrets or not, I need a bath.

Anyone else coming?”

Selvi smirked. “If you’re going, I’m going. No way I’m letting you steal Kira again.”

Mira blushed but nodded. “I could use a bath too…”

Kira sighed, already sensing the chaos that would ensue. “Let’s just try not to get kicked out of the city

before we start looking for leads.”
