CHAPTER SEVEN- HIERARCHY OF THE SUPERNATURAL

Tuesday 17th April, 2018- NEW SALEM, STATE OF WILLOW, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

By 17th April 2018, The Artist had delved deeper into the dangerous supernatural society that the MBCs built around themselves in Willow. But mostly The Artist had restricted themself to Willow’s state capital, New Salem, which was a hotbed for gruesome and terrifying supernatural activity unrivaled by the other two major cities of Willow, San Domingo and Jacksonville. Though they did have their fair share of unnatural and otherworldly occurrences. The Artist still kept the invitation to the Red Society pending, treading carefully before making a formal decision.

Cautiously studying this mysterious society of Magickal Beings and Creatures, The Artist had come to know key players that governed this thrilling but dark hidden world. For instance, what roles were to be played, by interacting with factions such as the Baltimorean Alchemists, Trader’s Guild Association of the Americas, War Dogs, Hell Cats and The Children of Night.

The Trader’s Guild Association of the Americas held significant sway over commerce and trade between MBCs and Humans. Their control over the flow of supernatural goods and services made them a key player in the hidden world. The Artist discovered that The Trading Guild was not without internal conflicts, with various factions vying for dominance within the organization. With its current leader Alexander Augustus, trying to keep his head from the chopping block. Commerce and trade played a significant role in the supernatural society, as The Guild controlled majority of the monopolies and trade routes in North America and South America, having allies or adversaries within The Trading Guild could greatly impact The Artist’s journey.

The War Dogs held a significant position as the primary contractor for the Red Society’s mercenaries and police force. The group was primally made up of Deathstalkers led by Nate Black. Making him a formidable figure in the supernatural world. Despite being a Hollow, he did whatever the Red Society told him to do without question. It was unusual for a Hollow to willingly serve others without question, as they were known for their independent and unpredictable nature. The Artist wondered what had led Nate Black to align himself with the Red Society. Was there more to him than met the eye? Did he have personal reasons for being so devoted to the cause of the Red Society? These questions lingered in The Artist’s mind as they sought to understand the complexities of the supernatural world.

The Hell Cats were a faction of Dissidents known for their violent tendencies. Hell Cats sought nothing more than a chaotic and anarchic world run by MBCs. Heavily known for his propensity for chaos and disruption, this faction was led by a Werewolf named Eric Kristof. Under Kristof’s leadership, the Hell Cats controlled the second largest MBC hotspot in Willow, The Roundhouse Diner. The Roundhouse Diner was a Biker-themed restaurant and bar that was located between San Domingo and Jacksonville, it served as a gathering point and headquarters for like-minded MBCs who would congregate to share their radical beliefs.

The Children of Night, as the name suggested, were a faction of MBCs deeply immersed in dark and arcane practices. They dabbled in Dark Magick and were rumored to be involved in sinister rituals, seeking to harness forbidden powers for their own purposes. They were led by the mysterious and enigmatic Mistress Night, with her Vampiric enforcer at the helm, Black Mercer. They took no notice on the Red Society’s radar, as they had forsaken the world of Humans, due to the corrupt and greedy nature of man. Instead, they created an environment were all MBCs of Willow, even Hollows alike, can thrive. The Children of Night owned the largest MBC hotspot, the Boîte de Minuit, a nightclub in New Salem. By operating as a tailoring shop for Humans during the day, The Children of Night’s lives were made considerably easier.

Led by the deranged High-Father Anderson and High-Father Mashotah, the Baltimorean Alchemists were a prominent faction known for their expertise in Alchemy and the manipulation of mystical elements. Their influence spread far beyond Willow, with connections and operations that extended across the Americas. The Artist learned that the Alchemists were deeply involved in the acquisition and trade of rare and powerful artifacts, often operating from the shadows to maintain their secrecy. High-Father Anderson had taught The Artist about the basics of Alchemy and how to brew potent Potions & Elixirs. High-Father Anderson’s teachings in Alchemy had not only expanded The Artist’s knowledge and abilities, but it also made them a more valuable asset in the eyes of the Alchemists. The Artist knew that they had to be cautious and not let themselves be completely ensnared by the faction’s ambitions.

As The Artist interacted with these factions, they realized that navigating the supernatural society required a delicate balance of alliances and caution. Trust was a scarce commodity, and danger lurked at every corner. The Artist found themselves walking a tightrope, trying to gain insights into the various factions without fully committing to any one side. The Artist’s encounters with these factions also shed light on the complex relationship between MBCs and Humans. While some MBC factions sought coexistence and understand Humans, others displayed a deep-seated animosity towards Humans. The Artist understood that achieving a balance between the two worlds was not a straightforward task.

As The Artist delved deeper into the dangerous and mysterious supernatural society of MBCs, they began to uncover the various roles that individuals played within this hidden world. Each role held a unique purpose and function, contributing to the complex tapestry of the supernatural realm. The factions might have their own glory, but collectively, these roles were the actual backbone of the unseen society.

Deathstalkers were the formidable mercenaries and police enforcers within the MBC society. They undertook tasks such as bounty hunting, offering protection and serving as bodyguards. Deathstalkers often employed the use of conventional weapons such as guns, swords & bombs with the use of supernatural elements such as magick spells & enchanted items to tackle on jobs given to them by their employers. These skills made them valuable assets for maintaining order and security within their own world.

Darkstalkers, on the other hand, were the more sinister counterparts to Deathstalkers. Operating on the fringes of legality, they were known for their involvement in illegal activities, such as carrying out assassinations, torture jobs and gruesome murders. Their reputation instilled fear and kept even the most daring individuals at bay. Though Darkstalkers were known to use conventional weapons such as guns, swords & bombs, they are more prone to use Dark Magick and stealth than the average Deathstalker. This makes Darkstalkers proficient in all forms of combat, as well as making them masters of stealth. Making a Darkstalker a feared assassin in both Human and MBC society.

Regents, shrouded in secrecy, were the secret diplomats and spies who operated in both Human and MBC societies. Their primary mission was to maintain “The Veil”, the delicate barrier that kept the existence of MBCs hidden from the Human world. Their covert efforts ensured that the supernatural realm remained veiled from the prying eyes of ordinary people. A Regent’s diplomatic work often consisted of facilitating secret bilateral meetings between Human and MBC representatives, making sure both societies observe “The Veil Policy”. Regents used Deathstalkers, Detectives, money or any useful resource to enforce the rules in both parties, which helps them make up for their complete lack of any form of combat or magick skills. With talented skills in the fields of negotiating, language translation and espionage, Regents are able to influence and navigate complex political landscapes.

Traders played a crucial role as neutral vendors, facilitating commerce and trade between Humans and MBCs. They dealt in a wide range of items, from deadly weapons to clothes and other useful items. Traders adhere to The Trading Guild’s laws and regulations, maintaining a careful balance between the two worlds. With more skilled Traders dealing in the selling and manufacturing of rarer goods such as special apparels, Magick Glyphs and Magickal Food. All Traders take the advantage of the fact they are a neutral party, with some even leverging their connections to the powerful and monopolistic Trader’s Guild Association of the Americas. Which compensates for a Trader’s below-average combat skills. Becoming a Trader would naturally allow one to start their very own business enterprise in both Human and MBC society, though with competition and The Trading Guild’s laws and practices to be aware of. In addition to this, Traders use their powerful connections, natural charisma and neutrality to manipulate the odds of any environment in their favor.

Alchemists, masters of the arcane arts, specialized in brewing and selling potent Potions & Elixirs with powerful magickal properties. They were also keen researchers, studying the scientific applications of supernatural phenomena. Their knowledge and expertise in Alchemy were highly sought after by those seeking extraordinary solutions, as Alchemists are found in both Human and MBC academic settings. Using their knowledge for medical and scientific research, being employed by private organizations and wealthy individuals to do so. Despite their studious and bookish nature, Alchemists have a form of combat that uses dangerous and experimental Potions & Elixirs that have very unstable and powerful reactions, even using special Alchemical Ammo Types that only a true Alchemist can craft.

Detectives, unsung heroes in both Human and MBC societies, were skilled investigators who solved complex cases and mysteries. They specialized in finding missing persons, tracking down serial killers and reporting dangerous individuals to the authorities. Their vigilance played a crucial role in maintaining order and upholding the integrity of “The Veil”. What Detectives make up for in their lack of battle prowess, as displayed by Deathstalkers and Darkstalkers, they make up for with their intelligence and better perception skills. As some problems are best solved with brains than brawn.

Dark Mages were the mentors of the supernatural world, teaching gifted individuals the intricate ways of the arcane arts. They imparted knowledge of spellcasting and sold magickal oddities such as Magick Glyphs and enchanted items. Dark Mages often disdain and abstain from the use of conventional weapons such as guns, swords & bombs, instead only using magickal spells and enchanted items in combat. Dark Mages have studied and perfected the secrets of the arcane arts, thus no one can rival them in the use of magick and its untold powers. However, such valuable knowledge came at a significant cost.

Society Elites were the leaders of major and minor factions within the supernatural realm. They controlled the power dynamics of Willow and played a pivotal role in guiding their followers according to their own pleasures and motivations. Their charismatic presence was often showcased through extravagant masquerade balls and galas, symbolizing their wealth and influence. Being skilled at social interaction and politics, Social Elites are not only able to influence the lives of their followers, but are also able to form a vast network of connections with other factions, which they use to maintain their power and influence. Society Elites also used flaunts of wealth as a show against their enemies and the solidification of power on their people. Becoming a Society Elite would allow one to build and create their very own faction in their own image, allowing one to recruit and train followers into their very own faction.

At the lowest rung of the hierarchy of supernaturals were the Dissidents, individuals considered outcasts in both Human and MBC societies. They were the unwanted, the neglected and the marginalized. Forced to survive in the shadows, they engaged in criminal activities such as burglary, smuggling and even kidnapping for survival or out of duty for profit and excitement when more heinous crimes were committed. In rare cases Dissidents even pulled-off massive heists on influential and highly-guarded places, earning them an infamous reputation amongst common people. Even though Dissidents are despised by every facet of society in both Humans and MBCs, they are sometimes adored by regular people because they are seen as those who oppose classist and unequal societies, though Dissidents are mostly harbingers of chaos, disorder and anarchy. Dissidents usually average out in every skill, whether it be combat, magick, stealth or leadership, not being too good or bad at either of them.

As The Artist absorbed this wealth of knowledge about the roles within the supernatural world, they couldn’t help but marvel at the intricate web of relationships and responsibilities. Each role served a specific purpose, contributing to the delicate balance that kept the supernatural realm hidden from the oblivious Human world. The Artist knew that understanding these roles was essential for navigating this treacherous and captivating hidden world, but they also realized that this was only the beginning of their journey. Many challenges lay ahead as they sought to find their missing parents and confront the sinister plans of The Cult of Blair. With determination and caution, The Artist was prepared to embrace their destiny in the realm of MBCs and forge their path in this enigmatic world.

Wednesday 18th April, 2018- NEW SALEM, STATE OF WILLOW, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Mesagok Creek No. 108 loomed in the distance as The Artist’s heart quickened with each passing moment. They had withheld their stance on the Red Society’s invitation, but their mind was already set. Whether they would become a Deathstalker or a Darkstalker, a Society Elite or a Dissident, The Artist was determined to find their place in this cruel and enigmatic world of Magickal Beings and Creatures. The Red Society, an imposing force, held sway over all MBC activities in Willow and the United States. Every newcomer, whether Human or MBC, was bound by their registration rules and sworn to secrecy under the infamous ‘Veil Policy’. There was no avoiding it, and even the unrestricted and monopolistic Trader’s Guild Association of the Americas had no choice but to obey the Red Society’s mandates.

As The Artist approached Mesagok Creek No. 108, in the same Black SUV with tinted windows that had previously brought them. The enigmatic driver, Joel, barely spoke a word, perpetuating the veil of mystery that shrouded his true identity. “Was he an MBC or Human?”, The Artist pondered, but the silence remained unbroken, perhaps a testament to his unwavering commitment to preserving ‘The Veil’.

‘The Veil Policy’ or ‘The Great Veil’, established in 1928 by the Red Society, was a law of secrecy that masked the existence of MBCs from the Human world. Despite its existence, certain Humans, especially those affiliated with the Red Society, were allowed to cross the threshold into the supernatural realm. However, they too had to register and find their place within the intricate hierarchy of the supernatural. The Red Society’s meteoric rise to power had stunned both MBCs and Humans alike. Initially, they presented themselves as a benevolent force, seeking to unite the two worlds. However, as The Artist delved deeper into the secrets of diplomacy under the guidance of the Red Society’s Regents, they realized that not everyone was accepting of the Society’s rule. Manipulation, bribery and blackmail were tools employed to safeguard secrets and maintain control over both worlds.

Within the ranks of the Red Society, their Deathstalkers were feared for their ruthless tactics. Acting as a tyrannical militia than a protection force, they upheld the Red Society’s rules with an iron fist. Those who dared to defy them faced swift and brutal consequences such as routine beatings and death. Yet, despite their harsh methods, the Red Society aimed to be fair in their dealings with both Humans and MBCs, their vision of unity not without its darker undertones.

As The Artist’s journey continued, the secrets of the supernatural world began to unfold before them like a dark tapestry. Mesagok Creek No. 108 beckoned, and with it, the opportunity to discover their true place within this enigmatic realm. The decision had been made, and The Artist was ready to embrace their destiny, come what may. For within the veiled society of MBCs and those who dwelt in it, power, intrigue and danger intermingled, and The Artist was about to navigate a treacherous path to uncover the truth that lay beyond the veil. With determination in their heart and the secrets of the supernatural world unraveling before them, The Artist prepared to navigate this dangerous and captivating realm. Their decision had been made, and their journey had only just begun.

(3:17 PM)

“Height and age?”, a Red Society Regent asked. “5.8-Feet and 25 years”, The Artist replied. “5.8-Feet in height and 25 years in age”, the Regent echoed as they scribbled the information on their clipboard, “Birthplace and year?”. “New Salem Charity Hospital, 1993”, The Artist replied. “New Salem Charity Hospital, 1993”, the Regent echoed once more while making careful notes, “Species of father and mother?”. “My father is a Human and my mother…I don’t know”, The Artist replied. “What do you mean you don’t know?!”, the Regent snapped back as they broke their gaze from the clipboard, “You are Mage! You are supposed to know! Can’t you put two and two together and say your mother was a Mage, magick is hereditary, it just doesn’t befall on any commoner”. “That’s the thing, she never specified what she was. I’m aware that Fairies, Nereids and even Elven-Mage Hybrids have their own forms of magick. For all I know I could be half-Kraljan without knowing!”, The Artist snapped back. “I see”, the Regent replied.

“Anyways. I will label you as a Human-Mage Hybrid, which is fair enough, as you don’t exhibit any otherworldly characteristics”, the Regent continued, “Your role amongst the supernatural. What would it be?”.

As The Artist considered the option of becoming a Deathstalker, they couldn’t deny the allure of this role within the supernatural society. Being a part of a formidable militia meant being at the forefront of maintaining order and security. As a Deathstalker, they would have the chance to protect and serve, to actively contribute to the unity and balance between MBCs and Humans. However, The Artist also recognized the challenges that came with becoming a Deathstalker. The rigorous training required to hone their physical and mental skills would demand dedication and discipline. They would have to prove their loyalty and abilities to their comrades and superiors, as trust was scarce in the supernatural society.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

As a Deathstalker, they might find themselves in morally complex situations, making difficult choices to serve the greater good. The Artist wondered if they were prepared to face the darkness that might lurk within the shadows, the malevolent forces they might encounter, and the risks they would have to take.

Becoming an Alchemist appealed to The Artist’s fascination with the arcane arts and science, which held the potential to unlock hidden secrets. The prospect of brewing powerful Potions & Elixirs that could heal and protect others excited The Artist greatly. They saw themselves using their knowledge to make a positive impact on both MBCs and Humans alike. Furthermore, as an Alchemist, The Artist would have the opportunity to study and understand the deeper aspects of magick’s and science’s interconnectedness in the two worlds that embraced them.

Becoming a Darkstalker held a certain allure for The Artist. The idea of operating on the fringes of legality and being a skilled assassin intrigued them. They could use their abilities to tackle dangerous and covert missions, eliminating threats to the balance between MBCs and Humans. However, the thought of engaging in illegal activities and the potential moral dilemmas that might arise gave them pause. They knew that the path of a Darkstalker could lead to a darker and more dangerous existence, with little room for redemption.

Becoming a Trader, on the other hand, presented an opportunity for The Artist to establish themselves as a neutral vendor and facilitator of commerce between the two worlds. They could use their connections within the Trader’s Guild Association of the Americas to gain valuable resources and information. The potential for business success and financial gains appealed to them, but they feared being tied to the politics and monopolies within The Trading Guild. They also wondered if this role would allow them to have a more significant impact on the unfolding events in the supernatural society.

The role of a Detective offered a chance for The Artist to be an unsung hero, using their intelligence and keen perception skills to solve complex cases and mysteries. They could be the one who unravels the secrets of the supernatural world, all while upholding the integrity of “The Veil”. However, they worried that this path might not offer them the direct involvement and influence they desired in shaping the fate of both worlds.

Becoming a Dark Mage intrigued The Artist as well. The prospect of mastering the arcane arts and dealing in magickal oddities like Magick Glyphs and enchanted items held an undeniable allure. They could become mentors and teachers of the supernatural, passing on their knowledge to others. However, the secrets they would uncover might also expose them to darker forces and sinister practices. The Artist wondered if they were ready to handle the consequences that delving into dark and forbidden magick might bring.

Joining the ranks of the Regents appealed to The Artist’s sense of diplomacy and their desire to navigate the complex political landscape of the supernatural society. As secret diplomats and spies, they could play a crucial role in maintaining “The Veil” and ensuring the balance between MBCs and Humans. However, the role might require them to work subtly behind the scenes, and they questioned whether they would have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the world.

The life of a Dissident intrigued The Artist as well. They saw the potential to challenge the status quo, oppose injustice and be a voice for the marginalized and neglected. However, they understood that this path would lead them into the shadows, engaging in criminal activities and potentially alienating them from the rest of society.

The prospect of becoming a Society Elite, a leader of a major or minor faction, excited The Artist. They envisioned building and leading their faction, shaping its values and goals, and having a significant impact on the supernatural society. However, they were aware that this role might come with its own set of responsibilities and burdens. They wondered if they were ready to shoulder the weight of leadership and make difficult decisions for the greater good.

After thorough contemplation, The Artist realized that while each role had its appeal, becoming a Deathstalker aligned best with their sense of justice and desire for direct involvement. The opportunity to protect and serve, while being at the forefront of maintaining order and security, resonated deeply with them. They were prepared to undergo rigorous training and demonstrate their skills to the supernatural world of the cruel and the damned. As a Deathstalker, they believed they could actively contribute to the unity and protection of both worlds.

With their mind made up, The Artist approached the Regent and confidently stated, “I have decided to become a Deathstalker. While the path may be treacherous, I believe it is the best choice for me. I want to actively contribute to the protection and unity of our world. I am ready to face the challenges that come with this role and prove myself as a worthy member of the MBC community”.

The Regent gave a faint smile, a glimmer of approval in their eyes. “Good”, the Regent said, “In that case, welcome to the secret world of Magickal Beings and Creatures. You will undergo rigorous training, both physically and mentally, to become a true Deathstalker. Embrace the responsibility that comes with this role, for the choices you make will have far-reaching consequences”.

(4:17 PM)

As The Artist left the meeting with the Red Society Regent, their mind was filled with a mix of excitement and apprehension. They had chosen a path that would challenge them like never before, but they knew it was the right one for their journey. The road ahead would be paved with danger and intrigue, but they were determined to face it head-on. The Artist looked at the sheet of paper the Red Society Regent gave them, it was filled with Statistics and Skills of what was expected of The Artist if they were to become a Deathstalker. It read as follows:

The Artist paused for a moment, carefully considering their response to the Regent’s question about their role in the supernatural society. They had always been drawn to the arcane arts and the mysteries of magick. The prospect of becoming a Dark Mage, delving into forbidden and powerful forms of magick, was both enticing and daunting.

“I believe my role would be that of a Dark Mage”, The Artist replied with a steady voice, “I have a deep fascination with the arcane arts and the potential for unlocking hidden powers. As a Dark Mage, I want to delve into the secrets of dark and forbidden magick, mastering spells and enchantments that others fear to even attempt. My knowledge in this area could be valuable to both MBCs and Humans, and I hope to use it for protection and defense when necessary”.

The Regent nodded, their expression neutral as they acknowledged The Artist’s choice. “Dark Mages hold a unique position within our society”, the Regent explained, “Your mastery of the arcane arts will undoubtedly set you apart from others. Your understanding of dark magick can be both a boon and a danger, for such knowledge can be a double-edged sword. (SOCIETY ELITE)

The Artist took a moment to consider their response to the Regent’s question about their role in the supernatural society. They knew that becoming a Society Elite would mean taking on the mantle of leadership and responsibility, but the prospect of building and leading their own faction was enticing.

“I believe my role would be that of a Society Elite”, The Artist replied with conviction, “I have a vision of creating my own faction, one that stands for unity and cooperation between MBCs and Humans. I want to lead with integrity and guide my followers towards a future where both worlds can coexist peacefully. As a Society Elite, I will work to build alliances and bridge the gap between MBCs and Humans, promoting understanding and cooperation”.

The Regent nodded, their expression thoughtful as they acknowledged The Artist's choice. “Becoming a Society Elite is a path of great influence and responsibility”, the Regent explained, “As a leader, you will have the power to shape the values and goals of your faction. Your charisma and ability to form connections will be essential in rallying others to your cause. But remember, leadership also comes with its challenges and burdens. You will face opposition, and your decisions will have far-reaching consequences”.

(DISSIDENT)

The Artist took a deep breath before responding to the Regent’s question about their role in the supernatural society. They knew that choosing to become a Dissident would put them on a path of defiance and resistance against the status quo. But they also believed that being a voice for the marginalized and neglected could bring about much-needed change.

“I believe my role would be that of a Dissident”, The Artist replied with determination, “I want to challenge the existing power structures and fight against injustice in both the Human and MBC societies. As a Dissident, I will be a voice for those who are unheard and work to expose the corruption and inequality that exists within our world. I understand the risks and dangers that come with this role, but I am willing to face them to bring about positive change”.

The Regent’s expression turned serious as they considered The Artist’s choice. “Becoming a Dissident is a path of resistance and rebellion”, the Regent warned, “You will face opposition and even hostility from those in power. Dissidents are often seen as troublemakers and outcasts, and you may be shunned or even hunted by some factions. But if you are truly committed to fighting for justice and equality, then this path may be the right one for you”.

I hope you enjoy this read, it took a really long time to make and plan. Please let me know in the comments which is your favorite role in this hierarchy of supernaturals and why.

You can even write some fanfic based on what if The Artist chose differently. Remember this is your story as much as its The Artist’s.
