The Entity - Chapter 35

The Entity - Chapter 35

When the Falling occurred and the breakdown of society began, the Entity had arrived on Earth. It was not a being of any corporeal form and had existed for millennia. It did not know how old it was as it had travelled the billions of planets in the galaxies since time began. It had been observing Earth for seven generations of the primary inhabitant's life cycle. The radiation and changes across the planet were deliberate implementations that it had completed to reduce the prolific reproduction cycle of the life forms that roamed the land.

Earth had been close to collapse, with its primary inhabitants gradually destroying the planet over the centuries that it had been present. This was one of the reasons that the Entity had decided to interfere at the time. It was interfering, and I knew it was deep down, but it was selfish.

The planet's lifeforms were far from the technological or developmental capability of many other worlds it had previously reformed. Still, due to the planet's dying ecosystem, it wanted to use its rich resources wisely. It might have taken another million years for the planet to resurface as a sustainable environment if it had been allowed to continue its path of destruction. The primary inhabitant would have died out and been replaced by a potentially inferior life form initially, again, going through the creation life cycle until such a time as intelligent life forms of the level it needed would be created.

The figures system it had implemented was infantile in its basis, and it knew that it had pushed its boundaries by trying to utilise the existing knowledge of the planet's inhabitants to create a form of measure for progress.

It had now taken until the 7th generation to reach a point where it even considered that some inhabitants might be nearing the ability to complete its challenges. It was a fantastic game to the Entity, but still just a game. It used lifeforms for entertainment and watched many fail against its creative nature of implementing change to the planets it reformed.

Only once in its long and prolific history had any lifeform survived. This lifeform he had allowed to live, promising itself that it would return at some point and play the game again. Since its arrival, it had been watching and carefully probing its capabilities and environmental structure. It knew every element of the planet.

The scientific community had yet to get close to the actual understanding of creation and matter. Its findings revealed massive issues where supposed experts in a field had quashed speculation due to their false knowledge and understanding. The problem is that the speculation had sometimes been much closer to reality. Reality was again a relative term in the eyes of the Entity. The reality was that which it decided after all.

The Entity had been carefully watching all the remaining planetary lifeforms. Only two of every remaining living thing had shown the prowess and potential it had been looking for. They were still a long way from their potential, but it had slowly been starting to manipulate one of them. It was not cheating, it thought, even though it did not think in the terms that any other life form would. After all, it was everything and nothing. It lived but did not. In words that the principal inhabitants had used, it may even have been called time itself. Its vastness and intelligence could not be surpassed. Its nature never understood. It had no alignment, emotions, or feeling; the only consideration of what may be understood in the vaguest terms as logic.

It did not want to force the challenges to start too early, but it did need to push the existing lifeforms in the right direction. The current enlightened, as it would title them with the upgrade, would soon cross paths if everything unfolded as expected, and it hoped that they would be able to begin the journey it was planning for them, not that any outcome was guaranteed as that is when it's game would begin. The two lifeforms would soon become aware of the Entity. Not that they would understand its nature as it communicated through the system. Every second of every day, it carefully monitored every single life form. They were watching and speculating outcomes.

It enjoyed the destruction and evil nature of many of the life forms and how they survived in this new fractured reality, the issue being that neural capability prevented many of them from ever being considered for competition. As it reviewed the 7th generation, it began its creation.

Deep within the bowels of the planet's surface, the realignment of matter began. What humanity thought existed at a planet's core could not have been further from the truth. It consisted of only one substance: mana, which made the universe itself.

Mana was everything- it and nothing, existence and nothingness- and it had one purpose only: to be what the Entity wished. Only the development of neural ability allowed certain lifeforms to begin contemplating their source and meaning. Most could not comprehend its actual existence or use the potential it allowed.

The game would begin soon following the upgrade.
