He was tired. More tired than he wanted to admit. He was currently inside the main room of a castle he and his armies took from the Almajid Empire.
He and his generals were currently looking at maps on a large table while discussing strategy.
"Maybe I shouldn’t have stayed up most of the night with Lily."
As he was thinking this, he did not realize that one of his generals was currently trying to speak to him.
"Sir!..... Sir!"
"Ah!... What?"
He looked up to find everyone at the table looking directly at him.
"Sir, if you are not going to pay attention I do not see the point of having these meetings."
The one who spoke was a man who looked like a big bear. He had large and well defined biceps and a large burly chest, while sporting a brown beard that was graying a bit.
"No.. no its fine... what did you say?"
"As I was saying sir... The Almajid Empires armies have retreated across the Almajid river, and destroyed any bridges and means of crossing the river."
"The Almajid Empire, one of the biggest empires on the Magna Continent. They were also backed by the biggest and most influential church on the continent, The Divine Church."
*Sigh* "So what you are saying is we are going to have to build a way across and bring our armies over to that side?"
"Yes sir."
"Alright!... I hereby decree! Blah! Blah! Blah!..... just build the damn bridge." "Meeting Adjourned!"
As everyone got up to leave and he was walking towards the door, he was stopped by a man.
"Liam... wait!"
The one who called out to him was his most trusted Adviser and leader of the mage corps Archer. Archer looked to be about in his mid forties with slightly graying hair and a small mustache, considering the fact that he wasn't a warrior but a mage, he had an average build.
"Yea?"
"Liam.. what was wrong with you today? You seemed a little out of it."
"Ah... No... Ha ha Im just a little tired. I was up most of the night with Lily again."
"Oh really? She has you working hard doesn't she?"
"Yea... she really wants another kid."
"Ha! Ha!.... I feel kind of bad for you... but anyway i am going to get some lunch would you like to come?
"No, sorry... I promised my daughter that I would eat lunch and play with her for a bit today."
"Oh... okay I guess I will see you after that then."
After he said goodbye to Archer he walked out the door and headed down the hallway towards his daughters room.
As he opened the door and walked into the room he heard a sharp squeal, and felt a small bit of weight press against his waist.
"DADDY!"
He looked down to see a young girl who looked to be around 4 with Rose colored hair and pale white skin hugging him. This was his daughter Arya. As he knelt down and lifted her up he said.
"Ah ha ha... Hey there Arya! How is my little Rose doing today?"
She leaned away from his chest and gave him a pouting face saying "Daddy! Beatrice won't let me go outside and play in the garden!"
He looked up at the motherly looking maid in the corner with an inquisitive look.
"I told the young miss that she can go outside to the garden when her father comes."
"Ah.. I see.... Well Arya do you want to go out to the garden after lunch?"
She gave him a joyous smile and nodded her head saying. "Kay!"
After this they talked for a bit while waiting for the lunch to arrive, and after they ate lunch they walked down to the garden.
As he was walking with his daughter in the garden while holding her hand, he heard a loud yell.
'LIAM!"
"He turned around to see his beautiful wife who looked like an older version of his daughter running towards him while yelling."
"LIAM! GUESS WHAT! IM PREG--"
She did not even get to finish her sentence before the arrow that appeared out of nowhere pierced her throat.
Time seemed to slow down as he watched his beautiful wife's eyes widen in shock as she slowly fell forward. What snapped him out of his daze and moved him into action was the maids scream.
'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
As he was knocked out of his daze he suddenly yelled at the top of his lungs.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
He quickly ran over to his wife's prone body and turned her over while laying her in his lap.
He looked down into her eyes and saw that she was slowly dying.
"NO! NO! NO! YOU CAN"T DIE! NOT YET! NO! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!"
As she gurgled and choked on her own blood she slowly lifted up her hand and delicately stroked his face as if she were saying her final goodbyes. She looked at him with a look that seemed as if she were trying to look happy while being in an immense amount of pain.

And then the light disappeared from her eyes.
As tears streamed down his face he sobbed.
"No! Please don't leave me! PLEASE!"
"Its okay Liam you will be joining her soon."
As he was holding his wife and crying he did not even realize he had been surrounded by soldiers. He looked up to see at least 25 soldiers surrounding him with some kind of insignia on their shoulders.
"What is that? Is that not the insignia of the Divine Church?" He thought.
As he was looking around at all the soldiers, he saw his most trusted Adviser Archer behind them.
"Archer? Is that you? What have you done?" He asked in a strained voice.
"I have done what is necessary to end this war and ensure the survival of the Divine Church, but that does not matter to you, because you are going to die. Men! Quickly grab the girl!"
It was then that he remembered his daughter was with him. He quickly rose and screamed.
"Don't you dare touch her!"
As he tried to run to his daughter he felt a sudden impact and an immense amount of pain in his chest. He looked down to see a spear going through the center of his chest. One of the soldiers had run him through from behind.
As he looked back up he saw his daughter looking at him with with tears streaming down her face. She was struggling to get out of one of the soldiers grasp while screaming something he could not hear.
"That is weird, why can't he hear anything?" He thought.
As he tried to reach out to his daughter, darkness overtook him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He awoke in darkness and felt nothing. All he saw was a white mist floating around him.
"So you are awake." said a mysterious voice.
"Who... Who's their?" He said
"Before I answer your questions human, you must promise me that you will do something for me in return." the mysterious voice said.
"Alright, but what do I have to do?" he said.
The mysterious voice then spoke. "You see, I am in need of a certain... I guess you can say servant. To do a certain job."
"HOLD UP! I am no one's servant!" He said.
"What if I told you, you could see your daughter again?" the mysterious voice said.
"What!? He can let me see my daughter again? But how do I know he isn't lying?"
"Hey! Before I say yes or no I want you to tell me who you are."
"Very Well, I shall tell you who I am."
He continued speaking.
"I am what you humans call death. I am the manager of souls basically."
"Wait so aren't you a god?"
"No, the gods you people of this world worship died creating this world. I am what manages this world. I manage souls and try to keep the balance between evil and good."
"Well you aren't doing a very good job."
"That is what you are here for. Since I can not go down to your world myself, I will give you a part of my power and you will do it for me. Also before you get to excited at having a second life, you will not be given a physical body, because I do not have the power to give you one."
"What!? then how am I going to do anything?"
"You will have to link your spirit to someone else's soul. It will make them more powerful but you will also be able to wield your powers because of this. When you link your soul to someone else's you will be able to become corporeal and wield your powers for a short amount of time, but be warned if you over do it, you will have to rest for some time to regain your energy."
"Wait so--"
He did not get to finish speaking before death interrupted him.
"I'm sorry but we do not have much more time, I am going to have to give you some of my power now and send you back."
As death said this, Liam felt a weight press against his chest, and then he felt a cold energy run through his body. As this energy ran through his body he started to feel tired.
Just before he lost consciousness he heard death say.
"Oh yea! I forgot to give you your new name, and tell you the rule. Your new name is Dumah and no matter what, you cannot tell anyone who you were before you died!"
"Oh! and one more thing! Its been about 4 years since you died!"
He didn't even have time to think about what death said before the darkness over took him.
