Late Night Bark!

Late Night Bark!

Okay, I’m gonna have to explain some things before I tell the story. I'm Ashley, a gray Anthro LaPerm cat, and I live in a house with my brother, his name is Todd. Okay so here’s the story.

Ashley was walking home, late at night. The cold fall air was freezing on her fur, even though she had her yellow scarf on, she was still shaking from how cold she was. It wasn’t so cold she would die, just so cold that she regrets not heeding her brother’s warning about how cold it would be tonight. She walks and walks, her pink paws making contact with the concrete of the sidewalk she was using to get home. She always knows her way home, it’s like how a cat always lands on their feet. She was still in her colorful french-fry-grease stained fast food uniform, she usually has to have Todd pick her up from her job due to how late she works but today she was fired for being suspected to have spit in a customer's food. “I would never do that! I love this job!” The pleas to her manager still echo in her head. Now she is at her front door and sighs as she realizes she’ll have to tell her brother what happened and the lecture from Todd on how “you can’t keep switching jobs! Just because we have a lot of inheritance doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be hard workers!”. All she wanted was to faceplant into her bed and sleep it all away. She would grip the doorknob, her pink paw paws gripping it firmly and turning…. The door didn’t open. She was locked out and her key was in her purse which she left at home today! “Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! Why today of all days!”. So she had to break into her own house. She hadn’t taken her purse to work today because she only uses her purse to carry money and emergency stuff such as tampons, napkins, toothpicks, coupons, bandaids, and hand sanitizer (don’t ask me how that works on cat paws.). She climbed over the chain fence and into her backyard. She was expecting to simply use the extra key that she had hid under the back patio but instead she was greeted by an unfamiliar face, a doberman. As soon as she saw him her blood ran cold, all her life dobermans have been the one dog breed who she is weak against, she can’t pet them, she can’t overpower them, she can’t befriend them, so all her life they have taken advantage of her. She just froze, like a deer in the headlights. The doberman sniffed the air and found her. Before she could even react, the doberman had his hands on her. “Shhhh don’t scream.” he said in a deep and intimidating voice. Her screams were muffled by his giant arm, she was like a toddler compared to him! She tried squirming to make him let go, she tried kicking and punching and biting but since she couldn’t breathe due to his arm she slowly passed out from lack of oxygen. He was now holding her unconscious body. “Good~” he snarled at her as he patted her unconscious body. He sniffed and found the hidden key and unlocked the back door. The crisp cool air from the air conditioned house hit him like a truck causing Ash to shiver in his arms. He walked in, closing and locking the door behind him with an audible “click!” noise. He walked through the dark silent house, carrying the unconscious feline. He found a bedroom and put her down in the bed. He went and explored her house, which revealed to him that Todd went to a friend’s house to play DnD tonight and Ash didn’t know, that’s why Todd wasn’t home to stop him. He waited and waited until he fell asleep while waiting. When the sun came up and the warm light glistened off of Ash’s fur, she slowly woke up and groggily went to the kitchen, for a snack. When she got there she found a plate of breakfast foods such as scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes and syrup, and toast with avocado on it. Her eyes widened as she saw and smelled the food, until she went into the living room to find Todd and the doberman chatting like old friends. She looked at him in awe, with the sunlight on him, the Dobermen looked straight up majestic, but she stayed focused. “This guy put him in a headlock till I couldn’t breathe!” she thought to herself. “Todd! Get away from him! He’s dangerous!” Ash exclaimed. “Now now little kitty, who are you calling dangerous?” His voice is deep and clear like a beautiful hot spring. The Doberman got up and approached her with a death stare that felt like daggers on the poor feline. “Ash, are you okay? This is my friend! Why would he be dangerous?” Todd cocked his head in confusion. “Listen to your brother, little kitten~” She felt his warm breath on the back of her neck and she shivered, her fur standing up as she got goosebumps. The doberman went back into the kitchen to make more breakfast. Ash ran over to her brother. “Todd! He freaking strangled me, well it was a headlock but that doesn’t matter! What matters is we get out and away from him! Give me the key to the gun safe.” Ash whispered to her brother. Todd replied “What?! He wouldn’t do that! And I’m not giving you the keys until we get to the bottom of this!” Ash protests “Please! You remember what happened to mom and dad, don’t you?! They were mauled by a doberman! I don’t want the same to happen to us! So give me the keys before we become doggy dinner!!” Todd sighed and handed the keys to her, not before the doberman snatched the keys from Ash. “Thanks little kitty~ you’ve just given up your only form of defense.” Ash looked mortified. “Give it back! I’m not going to let you hurt him!” Ash tackles the doberman, fighting to get the keys out of his paws. “What the-!” The Doberman is startled but knocks her to the ground with a loud thud. “Sis!” Todd cries out in fear of her being hurt. He rushes over to her, only to be met with a kick to the gut by the Doberman. “Awww don’t worry little kitty-cat, it’ll be over soon enough~” The doberman says with a malicious tone. With Todd having the air knocked out of him and Ash probably having a concussion, they were defenseless against him. “Guess we really are gonna end up like mom and dad huh, Sis?” Todd talks to his sister’s unconscious body, with tears streaming down his eyes, wetting the fur on his cheeks. “Awww are you a crybaby now?” The doberman growled and let out a mean chuckle before looking down at them with a toothy grin. “Here let me Help with that~” He says with that same malicious tone. Todd was stomped on before he could react. “Why are you doing this?! What did we ever do to you?!” Todd was interrupted by a kick to the jaw. “Oh you never did anything~ I just love seeing people suffer, especially weaklings like you~” The Doberman exclaimed with that same evil grin. “Would a weakling have a spiked-metal bat behind you?~” Before the Doberman could even react, he was knocked out cold by Ash. “T- Todd… call the police…” Ash would succumb to her earlier damage and fall backwards, panting from the amount of strength it took to just swing that bat. Thoughts were racing in her head “Why was that so heavy? It’s not usually that heavy. Am I going insane? Why can’t I move? I can’t stop now! I need to-” it all went black. Thoughts were also going though Todd’s head but he calmed down and called the police. Ash would wake up in a hospital bed, with an I.V. in her arm. “Wha- Why am I?” Ash looked around and noticed she was bound to the bed. “Awake again, I see.” A nurse teased. “Why am I bound like a vampire?” Ash asks with a confused look. “Well for starters, You were having lots of seizures and kept ripping the I.V. tubes out of you. And everytime you woke up you’d ramble about a Doberman who you’d kill for hurting your family. But we couldn’t find a Doberman where we found you.” The nurse explained. Ash looked mortified “So uhh how bad is it?” Ash asked, trying to hold the tears back. “Well you’ve got a bad concussion, most likely from a bad fall, and a few cracked ribs.” The nurse said while jotting down something on a clipboard. “I gotta ask, when do you think I’ll be able to get out?” Ash asked with a pleading tone. “Oh not for a long while, and even if you do get healed you'll have to go through physical therapy to get all your body parts back to working” The nurse explained once more. “Oh…. Wait! What about Todd?! Where is he?!” Ash exclaimed. “Settle down, he’s fine. He’s in room 34-C which you are in 34-B so he’s just in the room next to you!” For being a canine herself, this nurse is being quite polite. She’s wearing the basic green-blue nurse attire with some star earrings. She’s specifically a Weiner dog and her name tag (which is very decorated by herself) reads “Penny”. Ash was no longer in her PJs nor her old fast-food outfit, she was in one of those hospital gowns that doesn’t cover your butt. “Ah shoot! And I just got fired too! What’s next? My house burns down?!” Ash’s tone is of anger yet her tears are flowing like a river! “Woah Woah, calm down. Everything’s gonna be okay… just relax and think of how fun it will be to sleep all day and get to eat the hospital food! By the way, the Tuesday chocolate pudding is the bomb!” Penny tries to calm Ash down, even whispering a little food tip. Ash gets a little laugh out of that and wipes her eyes. “Ehh you’re right, I need to look on the bright side! Stay positive!”
