The Man Who Lived In The Clouds

The Man Who Lived In The Clouds

Once upon a time, there was a man who lived on a cloud. He had a cloud house. He had a cloud garden. And the man lived up high in the sky.

But because the man was in the sky, he had no friends. He soon became very lonely.

One day, the man looked down from his cloud to watch the people on the earth. Suddenly, he thought, “Oh! I could go down there and meet someone who will be my friend up here in the clouds.” So the man jumped down from his cloud to the earth.

“Oh! It is very dirty down here.” The man looked at the ground. “And the ground is not soft like my cloud.” The man had no shoes and learned that walking on the hard ground hurt his feet.

A boy was walking by and saw the man having trouble. “Sir!” said the boy. “You have no shoes to protect your feet. Come with me.” So the man followed the boy to a shop and bought some shoes.

“Thank you! Thank you!” cried the man. “You are so kind. Will you be my friend? Will you come live with me in the clouds?”

“In the clouds?” asked the boy. “You must be a crazy man. I will not be friends with a crazy man.” And the boy left.

This made the man sad. But he decided to try again. So he walked and walked in his brand new shoes. Soon the man’s legs became tired and he was very thirsty.

He sat down on a large rock for a rest. A young lady saw him and thought, “That man looks tired and thirsty.” She brought a large cup of water to the man.

“Thank you!” croaked the man. And he drank it all to the very last drop. “You are very kind,” the man said. “Will you be my friend? Will you come live with me in the clouds?”

“In the clouds?” asked the young lady. “I can not decide. I need more time to think about it. Please meet me here tomorrow. Then I will tell you yes or no.” Then the lady left.

The man suddenly heard shouting and laughing. Since he had nowhere else to go, the man followed the noises. He saw children playing games with a ball and having a lot of fun.

One of the children asked the man if he would like to play with them. “But I do not know this game,” said the man. “We will teach you!” yelled the children. And so the man learned the ball game. He had so much fun that he played with the children the whole night and into the next day.

“Oh no!” cried the man. “I have to go back to that rock to meet the lady who might become my friend.” The man and the children ran back to the rock.

Soon the young lady appeared. “I’m sorry sir. I can not be your friend. I can not go with you to your home,” she said. Then the young lady left.

The man was very sad. “What is wrong?” asked the children. “I’m lonely,” said the man. “I am looking for a friend to come live with me in the clouds.”

“You live in the clouds!” cried the children. “We want to go. We want to see your home! And we are your friends already.”

“And what do your mothers and fathers say?” asked the man. “They will tell you I am crazy. The will say you can not be my friends.”

“No! No!” cried the children. “We have no mothers. We have no fathers. We are lonely too.”

“Come!” shouted the man excitedly. “I will be your father. We will live in the clouds together!” The man and the children all went up to the clouds.

The man made a bigger cloud house. He made a bigger cloud garden. And whenever he wants, the man plays ball across the clouds with his children.

The End.
