000 Prologue 1

“I finally finished all my final exams! I am hoping I’ll at least get a D!”

Lucy watched as Miao did stretches to relax the tension from late-night studying, while agreeing, “Me too! I’m aiming for a C, though.”

Jack rolled his eyes, “You both study a lot more than I do, and all you can get is a C and a D?”

Miao’s gaze met Lucy’s, and both had a rapport established through these past few years.

Lucy jumped on Jack’s back to weight him down, and Miao swiftly gave him a headlock and added, “What did you say?! What gives an F-student the confidence to talk to us like that? Huh?”

With Miao’s arm strength, the most she could choke from Jack was an eye-rolling, but Jack decided to give face and tapped his hand on Miao’s arm, “OK, OK. I can’t breathe, let go.”

Miao knew to release her hold and Lucy also jumped off while slapping him on the butt.

Besides the physical differences which were hard to ignore, Jack had always felt they were men in women’s body.

Dirty jokes? They could always tell you a dirtier one.

Love of beautiful women? They also love them more than you. They also attract them more than you.

He still remembered the first day of Chemistry 101 when he met Lucy. A perfect, beautiful woman. Her smile was as sweet as an angel; her shyness could only make you adore her.

Then they met a small but powerful being called Miao, or Meow, as they cutely call her. She needed the extra cutesy to soften her image.

Miao had three C’s. Crazy. Cheesy. And Clumsy.

Due to Miao’s love of sharing and joking, his dear Lucy went down a hill of no-return. Try to tease Lucy now and she wouldn't even bat an eyebrow.

Jack shook away these heartaches, “Meow, I missed you at the last few parties. Want to go tonight? At Mulledy Hall.”

Miao was already on her late-stage World Wide Web addiction. She would rather read web novels and do her liver a favor by not drinking. With a lack of interest, she replied, “No, I need some Dao.”

Lucy remarked, “You’re already done with the Romance novels? If you’re looking for some Dao, you can read ‘The Absolute Emperor.’ I’ve just started.”

“How long is it? If it’s still being released, I’m going to let it grow fatter first.” Miao asked.

“It already has thousand-something chaps, and it’s still ongoing. Hey, Jack, where are you going??”

Jack gave them a lonely back and waved his hand.

They both shrugged and continued on their chitchat while returning to the dorms.

Miao and Lucy had returned to their dorm. While Lucy was packing up to leave tomorrow, Miao read the synopsis for The Absolute Emperor.

What is good and what is evil?

Han Bin had always upheld his sect’s teachings to eradicate all evil and uphold justice. Yet when all backs turned against him for a so-called “treasure,” he could only experience the pain of a thousand swords.

For the next hundred years, revenge was the only impulse for him to fall with demons and practice demon arts. When all enemies had been eliminated, the cost was his life.

Perhaps even the heavens pity his life and he was given another chance. This time he will live differently.

Miao was unfazed by this synopsis; if she didn’t read a hundred, then she must have read at least ten similar ones.

Another power-hungry MC ruled by revenge and loved by all women.

For now, she bookmarked the site and also began to pack her bags for her summer vacation.

----------------------------------------

Backing into the garage, Miao shifted the gear to “P” and got out of her car. Raising her head, the view of her parent’s multimillion mansion loomed into her vision.

While grabbing a bin of unwashed laundry, she went to open the front door.

“I’m home!” She yelled, only to have her voice reverberate throughout the house.

As usual, the house was empty. Her whole family resided in different parts of the world according to the season change.

A professional cleaner was hired to come every week but most of the time this place remained vacant. Usually, her family would send someone out to this mansion to take care of her during vacation time, but seems this time they forgot.

Perhaps growing up and seeing all her friends in the same academy leading the same kind of life — uninvolved parents, living in large mansions and villas, and driven by chauffeurs every day — has led her to consider this as the norm.

There was no self-pity, no blame, or any hatred. Most material needs that she had wanted were fulfilled.

Emotionally, she still met with her family once in a while. Her parents still loved her, but their style of living was just particular to their family.

Still, as she finished dragging all her college belongings to the storage room, at times like these Miao would be envious of her friends, where their parents or brothers or sisters would go out of their way to happily welcome them home.

She? She had four walls, the floor, and the ceiling.
