Chapter 9

“Unlike other fighter, I also know how to manipulate the magic in the nature. So you could say I can leave plenty of scars. Not to mention all those people who will come crawling to fight against you.”

I straighten. Storing my wand away. I glared at him.

Archie gazed at me. A beautiful smile decorated his face, he had worn the glasses.

“Besides it's not like only I know of your identity.” He stood up, positioned his cape properly and started approaching me.

“Solis knows about this, doesn't she? But I guess she doesn't count. You already know about that.”

Archie walked passed me. My gaze followed him. He picked a rose and gave it a sniff.

“What about Alexis? Do you know he knows too?”

“You are bluffing.”

“Bluff. No, it is truth.” Archie placed the rose in his shirt’s pocket.

I narrowed my eyes, cleanched my fists and gritted my teeth.

“Half truth at most. Alexis doesn't know I am a dragon. What he knows is I am not a human.”

Archie smile slowly melted away. “You know about his eyes.”

The eyes Alexis reveled on our very first meeting. He probably has figured out my power level from that but not the fact that I am a dragon.

“Dragons are really interesting.” Archie mumbled. “So you can't do it?”

“But you can.”

There are two ways a being can use magical power. One to manipulate the magic in the nature and other is to manipulate magic inside something.

Learning even one can take a person more than a decade, mastering it countless centuries. This soon became a problem for humans and other beings with a short life span.

A being could expand there life span with mastery of magic but they couldn't live forever.

In a pursuit of a solution those beings decided to pass on their knowledge in two seperated ways.

Teaching the magicians and priest to use magic in surrounding and others to use magic within their body or other body. This method then spread to countless other beings.

He claims to be able to use both. If it is indeed true then he is more than a genius.

“I can do that… quite easily actually.” Archie's words strike a nerve.

Easily..

That is painful to hear after I have been trying to do it for a while. I want to cry right now.

Archie sat down back on the sit. “But I would have never been able to think of this way ever.”

I gazed at him as he continued, “Being able to easily do something that's already been discovered and discovering things are two entirely different things.”

My heart pinched. He… reminds me of someone. I bit my lips.

“Dragons really are awesome.” Archie had a gentle smile.

“I always wanted to meet one.”Archie mumbled.

“What did you say? I didn't quite catch it.”

“Should I give it a try? The spell. That's what I said.”

“Go ahead.”

Archie closed his eyes, straighten his body. Magic around his body was pushed away. Countless smell mingled in air started to overpower each other.

Smell of roses dominating the air would quickly be overpowered by the smell of tea. But that too wouldn't last long before being overpowered by something else.

The artifact was never brought in this garden so there shouldn't be any smell of it here.

In the end, the air was filled with smell of shortcake.

“It kinda pisses me off.” I mumbled as quietly as I could.

Archie opened his eyes. “You don't have to wishper that. If someone could easily do what I put hours in, I would be pissed too.”

I doubt you have ever felt this feeling though.

“Also drop the titles, it neither suits you nor me.”

I took a sit, ruffling through the pages of notebook, I clicked my pen.

I jotted down the process as Archie watched.

The sound of footsteps ringed with the melody of breeze. The maids placed refreshments on the table, teas and cookies.

She bowed her head and left.

“Twilight, how long have you practiced and studied magic.”

I know he said to drop the title but that was rather quick. “After so long you loose the track of your age.”

“Aha, that long.” Archie rested his back and sipped the tea. “You should have a dragon’s wand too.”

“I do have one.” Archie's eyes glisten as his pupil dilated.

He didn't let out a single word but his eyes spoke million of them. Each with a ever so increasing glare, his eyes had a desire to see them.

His body was trembling as he rolled his eyes. I could see past his eyes. He was thinking of asking me to show it.

A magicians life is their wand.

“Huh.” I sighed.

I waved my hand and a wand appeared in my hands.

Dragon shaped silver wand appeared in my hands. Its scale seperated by black undertones.

Archie's black eyes glittered with excitement. “Can I touch it?”

I presented him the wand. Archie held it quite gently.

Archie’s black eyes fluttered around the wand’s shape. His expression distorted with each stroke.

“The wand is well crafted. Did a dwarf make it?”

“No, it was a human.”

“Human.” Archie voice pitched for a second. “To have rivaled a dwarf. It is fine work of art. It is beautiful.”

I looked at Archie, he was busy appreciating the wand.

Why is he acting surprise? To him who has surpassed an elf in controlling the magic powers, this should be matter of trifles.

Our eyes met. “Isn’t it bizarre, the world we live in considers life span of 70 yrs to be short?” Archie questioned.

“Where did that come from?” Silence weaved in the air. Breeze carried the mumble of the insects.

“Do you think that your life is short?” I questioned.
