Chapter 1 Unforgettable Memories

Chapter 1 Unforgettable Memories

10 years ago, in a mansion on the outskirts of town, a known rich family, the Tortonos, were attacked by enemies coveting their inheritance. The whole family was known as excellent fencers and scholars. A 10 year old, Avrida, with straight long hair, lightest brown skin, in her fencing outfit is training with her father Anto, a muscular man with dark black hair, and the most beautiful brown eyes.

" Good job, Avrida. You're improving." He said.

"Gracias, Papa." Avrida replied.

A beautiful lady, with a tannish brown skin, in a beautiful pink ruffled dress, walks out the door.

"Avrida, Anto, come in for dinner."

"What are we having today, Mama." Avrida said.

"It's a surprise." Her mother replied.

"We have chicken with beans and rice today." She said.

"It smells delicious." Avrida said.

"Let's pray first, everyone." Avrida's father said.

After prayers, Anto replied, " Let's all eat."

Everyone enjoys their dinner.

It is almost dark, and everyone is ready for bed. Anto and Merada are worried that someone might come to take their money and the inheritance that they have planned for their daughter.

Anto says, " Mi corazon, don't worry. The will and the chest is safe in a hidden place. Nothing will happen to us. Now let us go to sleep."

Merada replies, "All right, I feel at rest now."

Before going to the bed, she anticipates the next day of fencing training with her father.

"I can't wait for the next day, It is Mama's turn at training me. One day if I train enough, I will be as great as my father and mother."

She tucks her in into her blanket and she closes her eyes and sleeps.

A few hours later¸ Anto hears a ruckus and checks it out. Men dressed in black with huge guns are searching the house for something. Anto goes into his room taking his sword and gun. He comes out and points the gun at them but gets shot from behind. Merada wakes up hearing the gunshot, and goes to check on Avrida. She then instructs her daughter to go to a safe place and hide there.

Avrida looks confused and runs to the safe place. Merada then takes her weapons from under the bed to check out the location where she heard the gunshot, but someone knocks her out and then shoots her dead. The head honcho tells one of the men to find the daughter. Coincidentally, Avrida finds a hatch under where she is hiding and goes under listening to the men that are searching for her. She covers her mouth to prevent them from hearing her and waiting for them to leave.

The same man goes back the leader and replies, "I checked every corner of the house, I can't find the chest or the will." The leader then commands his men, " All right, everyone, look for secret openings that open to a secret room. That girl could be anywhere."

While in the chamber, Avrida discovers her father's prized sword and mother's prized gun. One of the men, Ramon found a small chest. "Hey, Amos, I found something."

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Amos takes his gun and shoots open the chest. He discovers and reads the letter.

It reads:

I had a feeling that someone was after me, so I put the will and the inheritance for my daughter in the same place. I did not want to worry my family about it, so I knew that you guys would find this chest. This is a present for you, 3 small bags of gold pieces, a prize for your efforts.

Sincerely, Don Anto.

Amos crumples the letter throwing it and takes the chest of gold.

"He wouldn't hide it here. It's too obvious. Let's move out.

Ramon and the men replied, " Si, Señor."

Amos and his men take his horses and moves out.

Amos commands one of them, "Burn the house."

He orders some men to get two gallons of gasoline and spill it everywhere around the house. He then lights the match and throws it in there.Avrida comes out of the chamber and sees her house full of flames, worried that her parents won't have a peaceful burial, she drags both of them down to the chamber with all of her strength. After she leaves them in the chamber, she goes back to get some of the pictures of the memory of her family and her. However, she is unable to get the locket that her mother gave her for her 5th birthday.

Since the underground chamber was fireproof, Avrida and her dead parents were protected by the fire. While looking at her parents, she starts to cry her eyes out. A few seconds later, Avrida discovers a secret door and opens it. She sees a huge treasure chest and feels something under her feet. She lifts her feet up and sees a key, takes it, and puts it into the key hole opening the chest. She discovers an envelope and loads of gold in the chest. She opens the envelope and finds the will in it and a letter written for her by her parents. She reads it:

My sweet niña, if you have found this letter. It means that we are gone. We knew you would find it one day. Here are our instructions. Look carefully into the envelope and you will find a map to a secret location. Find something to carry the chest to this location. One more thing, you must have been surprised when you found three copies of the will in the envelope. Sew the first copy to what you are wearing. Then take the second copy and hide in a location when you finally find a place for yourself. Hide the original copy in the same location that we've instructed you to carry the treasure chest. Also, we passed on our prized weapons to you but don't use it yet and keep them safe. I hope you live a wonderful life without you, Good wishes, Papa and Mama.

Avrida cries again then stops. She then gets something to carry the chest until she hears

someone's footsteps outside the hidden chamber. After hearing the footsteps, she walks

further through the chamber and discovers 14 year old boy who has been stabbed in his

stomach and takes him into the chamber.Avrida finds some medicinal supplies to stop the

bleeding.

Avrida asks him, "What happened to you?"

He replied, "I was following them, they're the ones that killed my family."

"It's okay, I understand. The same thing happened to me. There were people killed mine

too and burned down my house." Avrida said. while comforting him and treating his

wound.

"Tell me your story." Avrida said to him. "I don't think I should, how do I know I can

trust you?" He replied.

"Well, I did just save your life. Why shouldn't you trust me?" She said

"You're right, I'll trust you for now. It's going to be long story." He said.

Avrida replies smiling, "We have all the time we want, but one more thing, I have to

bury my parents. I'll be back."

He replied, " Let me come with you."

"No, you should stay here until your wounds heal." She said.

"My name is Inago. " He said.

"Avrida," She replied to Inago.

She walks out taking a shovel and carrying her parents' bodies in a cart through the

outside opening of the chamber. Then she finds a vacant place to bury her parents. She

digs two separate deep holes and puts them into the ground and then covers the hole up.

She says one last thing to her parents,

"When I get the chance, I'll use the money to buy gravestones for both you guys,

Mama and Papa. I'll be going now, I have to take care of an injured person now.

Please rest in peace. Adios, Mama and Papa." She cries her last tears and then

walks away back to the chamber.

When Avrida comes back, she finds that Inago is missing. But he

appears right behind her a few seconds later.

"Where have you been, I was worried." Avrida says angrily.

Inago replies, "I thought you might be hungry so I tried to find a close town to get food

both of us. It's the least I can do for you since you saved my life and we might be really

hungry after my long story."

"You're right. But next time, write a note when you decided to leave. There's paper and

pen on the corner of that wall." She replied.

"All right. I'll start my story. "said Inago.
