Marfud is like a toaster. Toasters serve a pretty limited purpose, but they do it well. Diones thought Marfud was useful; he just wasn’t using himself the right way. So Diones would just lend a hand. Give him a few toasters, Badda-bing Badda-boom.
Being an expert thief is not as exciting as it sounds. Being an ok thief, now that’s exciting; you never know when you’re going to be caught, never know where your limits are. Diones didn’t know when it happened, but there was a threshold passed.
Money was the motive in name only; Diones didn’t need it; they just appreciated the societal value it still held. Diones’ new purpose was to provide more enjoyment to others’ craft of crime. From an outside perspective, one might think Diones was a Robinhood figure stealing from those who steal, but they didn’t understand. Diones was no different than those they stole from. If you didn’t understand the artistic value of what Diones did, you didn’t know. Few knew. Diones knew. Marfud would know.
Marfud kept Diones busy. Stealing two toasters for every toaster he sold, Diones started to wish they had come up with another plan. It was all worth it, though, when they saw the joy of Marfud in the morning seeing the fruit of ‘his’ labor. Diones wondered if Marfud would be a better conman if he were a litter sharper. They figured probably not; his victims lower their guard for a reason.

Diones knew there was only so long this could go on for. Marfud’s house was only so large. Diones considered just ending it when the toaster collection became 40 something large. That would be no fun, though. Marfud needed the next move and, more importantly, to give Diones his money voluntarily. As the reader of this novel, you already know where this is heading. Diones pretends to be a realtor and takes Marfud’s money when he tries to buy a storefront. Then Diones steals back all of Marfuds toasters, right? Well, you’re wrong. How very presumptuous of you.
Who opens up a toaster store (If you have seen a toaster store, please call +1(555)-223-5427)? Diones would never have predicted that Marfud’s next move was to open a toaster store. Maybe he would be selling toasters as a supplier to stores, but a store dedicated to toasters, what the.
Marfud is misunderstood. It’s easy to make assumptions about someone who believes in magic toasters and is willing to open a toaster store. Marfud considers himself smartly stupid. About half the time, his brain is an empty void, and the other time, it’s pumping out genius, well maybe not genius, but.... Sure, a toaster store does not make sense, but his situation didn’t make sense. Marfud accepted his situation of having a ‘magic’ toaster, but that does not mean that he accepted the situation as normal or rational. Why make a rational decision in a completely irrational situation? Marfud is also a very perceptive person; it comes with the job. If you spend a significant amount of time surveilling and following others, you begin to notice when someone does the same to you. He wasn’t sure who or why but he didn’t feel like his morning routine was solitary anymore.
