The school break was over and I was now getting ready to go back to school, this time with a plus one.
"Then I'm off to school everyone!"
"Enjoy your day, Mistress," Katsuki bowed, seeing me off at the entrance of the mansion.
I waved back at her before setting off to school, making my way to the school on foot to preserve the secret of me being a child of the Nilm family.
Following me was Odeta and Delmare, the Siren having been admitted into the school earlier this week after a short meeting between Mother and the principal.
Delmare didn't even need to take any tests or even answer any questions before the principal went ahead to admit her into the school. Apparently Mother's recommendation and my assurance was already enough.
Although I'd guess that my current performance in school also played a part in it since Mother did mention about me picking up the Siren. She must have thought she was just as talented as I was or something.
We did inform them that she was a Siren though, so I don't think there would be any problems arising from that.
At least I hope so…
The principal did show a little scepticism about her being a Siren at first since Delmare already learned how to use Somatomancy to change her tail into legs by then so the first thing she pointed out was she saw her walking here.
That got cleared up pretty quickly when Delmare released her spell to transform her legs back into her tail.
Speaking of which, she had been quite insistent about using my legs as a reference to transform into, which involved her inspecting my legs very closely while she was learning the magic. Of course, since I had to bare my bottom to her, it ended up turning into a lovemaking session afterwards.
Although… There was one night where I went to visit her in the room in our mansion and I caught her using the magic to transform her tail to my legs so that she could stroke them.
I chalked it up to her trying to get used to the feeling of legs and left before she could notice me outside her room.
I also have a feeling that Mary intentionally left out teaching Delmare about my family so she did not know the significance of our family in the Kingdom. She was definitely surprised to see the size of my house but then recovered rather quickly saying that this was expected for me.
Not sure what I had to do with having such a big house though…
But putting that aside, it's a new school semester! Plus I have a new friend attending with me too! I'm already looking forward to the new semester!
What? Is it weird to look forward to school? It's a magic school! Of course I would be more excited to attend it as compared to a normal school!
Plus, look at us! I have my childhood friend and my… Hmm… I guess I could say my girlfriend? Yep, I have both my childhood friend and my girlfriend accompanying me to school! It's basically a standard scene you might find from those slice of life school stories!
This is the best feeling!
"What classes do you have today, sister Aster?" Odeta asked as we walked.
"Umm.. Today is Creday so… Pyromancy in the morning then followed by Iatromancy. After lunch would be Umbramancy and then Lumenmancy classes."
Delmare looked like she wanted to say something but she couldn't since she was occupied with chanting the magic to keep her legs transformed, which was one of the key drawbacks of this spell.
That's why this magic would only serve as a way for her to get from one place to another before she would release its activation and allow her legs to transform back into her tail.
One good thing was the fact that due to how experienced she was with singing, she's able to 'chant' the spell in the back of her throat instead of speaking it out loud, so to others it might just seem like she's just humming instead of continuously chanting a spell.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
I didn't even know that was a thing but I guess you learn new things everyday.
She also figured out a way to deal with the communication problem by bringing a large sketchbook around where she would write what she wanted to say when her mouth was occupied in chanting the spell.
Thus, she took out the sketch book and started scribbling on it before showing it to me.
'Eh? Aster can use so many different types of magic?'
Odeta let out a bark of laughter, "Ha! If I ain't wrong, sister Aster is able to use the most number of magic types in the entire history of this school! Sister Aster is awesome!"
Mnnggghh… Don't say it like that, Odeta… You're making me feel really embarrassed…
Delmare turned her sketchbook back and scribbled another line of words.
'How many types of magic can Aster use?'
I scratched my chin, "Umm… There's Umbramancy, Electromancy, Lumenmancy, Pyromancy, Hydromancy, Aeromancy, Geomancy, Iatromancy and just recently Somatomancy. So nine I guess?"
The Siren was so surprised by my answer that she actually stopped chanting for a moment. Her legs were in the midst of changing back to her fish tail before she hurriedly restarted the spell again, saving her shoes and socks from being ripped apart.
I know that because it has happened before when she was still learning the magic. It's unfortunately an inconvenience that she would have to live with until she learned the higher tier spells for Somatomancy.
After she got her spell back in control again, she scribbled another line in her sketchbook.
'Isn't being able to use so many different kinds of magic abnormal?'
I scratched my cheek, "Umm… I suppose you could say that… I was very interested in magic when I was young so I spent a lot of my time trying to learn as many schools of magic as I could. But they aren't really that high in proficiency though."
'Aster is amazing~ <3'
Yes, she drew the squiggle and the heart as well in her sketchbook.
We soon reached the gates of the school and the number of students increased exponentially, a number of them recognising me quickly since they were in the same classes or the same year as me.
"Hi Aster!"
"Oh, it's big sister Aster!"
"Lady Aster!"
"How were your holidays, sister Aster?"
I greeted them back, calling those who I knew personally by name.
Delmare tugged my sleeve to show me she had written something again.
'Aster is really popular?'
I understood that it was more of a question where she was wondering if they were greeting me simply because of courtesy or do they actually know me.
"Ummm… I wouldn't say popular but more well known I guess? I think you know about the existence of the special classes right?"
She nodded, since Mary did give her some basic knowledge about the school including the existence of special classes.
"Well… I'm one of the special class students. So is Odeta actually."
Delmare clapped her hands together, giving me an 'as expected' look.
The three of us then made our way to the auditorium of the school, the same place where my class had announced our challenge to the rest of the school. As it was a new semester, we had to attend another ceremony where the principal welcomed us back with a speech.
You know, standard school stuff.
We unfortunately had to separate with Delmare here since the special class students had to sit in the front and Delmare had to sit somewhere near the back.
Odeta joined me at the front of our column as the rest of the school filtered into the auditorium, all of them taking their seats in their respective classes.
"He… Hello, Aster."
I looked up to see Lucas greeting me, the Pyromancer of our class. His hair was still the same with his bangs covering his eyes though I noticed he seemed to be more tanned than the last time I saw him.
"Hello Lucas, been somewhere hot?"
He nodded, "Oh! Yeah, I did! My family brought me to the Shendhala Oligarchy for the holidays since my father had some business over there."
Oh~ That's the desert country directly north of here. Those people are basically desert nomads and they only really have one big city located right in the centre of the desert. They do have smaller settlements on the borders of their territory, but they seem to call them bazaars and markets for some reason.
I do want to visit there if I get the chance to do it in the future.
"Umu~ That explains the tan~"
"What about you? I heard you were seen with a really beautiful pink haired girl in the morning and everyone wants to know who she is."
"Eh? News really travel fast don't they? School hasn't even started yet and people are already talking about it?"
He took a seat beside me, "Well, it's related to you after all. Plus that girl has big boobies too."
God damnit… I actually forgot this guy's a damned pervert… Can you go sit somewhere else instead?
As though trying to prove my point, he leaned a little closer, "Also… Are you wearing panties today? If you are, can I see them?"
This damned pervert…
Unexpectedly, a hand reached across me to grab Lucas by the collar, pulling him halfway out of his seat.
"Hey? Who do you think you are?! Sister Aster's panties isn't something you can see just by asking! You think just anyone can see it?!" Odeta growled.
Umm.. As much as like the fact that you're defending me, Odeta… Maybe you shouldn't have said that out loud…
Look… Now those people over there are looking at us, no doubt they have heard what Odeta had said…
"Umm… No! That's not what I--"
"Yeah, you better shut your trap! Even I don't ask her for it so what makes you think you can?!"
…
Ugh… I know I said I was looking forward to school but right now I just want to bury myself in a hole…
