"Another day... For what? What purpose do I serve, and what is to be gained in this ugly world?"
"Nothing... As I thought. Thanks for always failing to answer my questions." Sighed a despondent young man as he laid in the grass with his hand stretched towards the stars.
John was not a very cheerful teenager for many good reasons. He saw no good in this world, and no purpose for humans to exist. At the age of eight John had found his father hanging from the second story balcony of their home with his own belt. He had known his father to be suffering from depression, but did not think the severity was of that degree. His mother took to drinking heavily and surviving off of government funds after their home was lost and bankruptcy was filed. Friends you ask? None to speak of, as no one wanted to spend time with this depressing young man, or deal with his drunken mother in their rundown apartment.
His mother took to beating him at the age of twelve to relieve her own pent up sorrow and angst. That was the reason John stayed out most nights until his mother passed out.
When John arrived home he walked in and silently made his way to the bathroom. It was a little past eleven PM at this point and he was sure his mother was out of the house, or asleep.
The only pleasure he had in this world, was taking a long bath. He enjoyed just laying in the warm water and letting his thoughts dissipate as he was hit with a wave of relief. Nothing seemed to matter as he lay there submerged. Unfortunately, as he was submerged he couldn’t hear what was occurring around him at this point in time. His mother had entered the room in a daze, bottle still in hand.
John heard glass shatter and opened his eyes from under the water. Before he could even process what was going on, he could see the silhouette of his mother reflecting off of the surface of the water above him. A plethora of thoughts assaulted his mind much to his disdain, but before he could dwell on them further his mother was sitting on his abdomen and holding him under the water.
As john struggled, his mother did not let up and he slowly felt his consciousness fading. John had not seen a light at the end of a tunnel, his life did not flash before his eyes, nor did he have any fear. He simply had a very forlorn look on his face, and his last thought was, “ What a way to go…”

John peered into the endless black void before him, and he saw no paradise, no hell, nothing. It was just emptiness.
“As I thought, there’s no purpose… Nothing.”
As he was floating, everything turned white and he was standing in what seemed to be an endless white space. There was no ground, no sky, and it seemed to go on forever.
As John wondered where he was he heard a soft voice that echoed as if there was a reverb.
“Young man, do not fear me.”
John focused his eyes, but all he could see was an outline. It reminded him of the camouflage used in the series of halo video games as he could see the silhouette, but it simply looked like a see through human figure about six feet in height.
“I suppose you are god.” Said John in a rather apathetic tone.
“I am one of them, yes.”
“Polytheism, huh? there’s going to be a lot of very angry religions.”
“That is not of my concern. I have been watching you for a good portion of your life and am truly sorry for the experience you lived. You did not deserve any of the cards fate dealt you, mortal.”
“That’s life. I suppose I am going to hell for not worshipping a higher being?”
“Not in the slightest. Normally, the soul would either stay in the void to reflect upon their sins, or be reborn on the planet they originated. Your case is special, I took pity upon your soul and devised an alternative option.”

“Oh… Well, just do what you will then.” Said John, not really caring whatsoever.
“Just… hear me out here.” Stated the higher being in what John assumed to be a slightly ticked off, but patient tone.
“Very well…”
“I know in your younger years you found solace in role playing games, but became bored due to the lack of depth and purpose contained within. I am going to offer you a fresh start in a world that functions like one of those games. Your path is yours to decide, and the depth is endless. I only ask that you try and find the good in this world, and make the most of your life. Would that interest you, mortal?”
“It would… I have one condition though.”
“By all means, name it.”
“I don’t want any parents. They only bring grief.”
“That complicates things greatly… But I believe I can accommodate that request. Standby for a short while, and I will have you reborn.”
“Hey… Thank you… What was your name?”
“I am the Greater God of Change, Myrion.” Said the being.
“Myrion… I will remember that a god has done something for me, thank you.” Said the boy, welling up with emotions.
“You are most welcome, cherish your new life.”
Everything then went black.

“.....”
“Where… Am I?”
John looked down and saw a light blue grass below him and realized he was hanging off of the ground. He looked around and saw mucus sacs hanging from the trees. He tried moving but soon realized he couldn’t feel any of his appendages. His own sac burst open as he fell to the ground with a *bloop* noise. It hadn’t hurt at all and he was thoroughly confused. He then saw another sac pop open as a green slime reminiscent to old rpgs he played fell to the ground.
“No… No way.”
“Ehh, well slime was one of the only races without parents… Sorry about that. Right now, you are a weak monster in this world, but with levelling and evolution you can decide your own path and I have graced you with a very helpful blessing. Simply think the word ‘status’ and it should all become clear. This will be the last time I will be able to converse with you directly. Good luck.” Said Myrion as his voice faded out.
“Wha… Status!” Screamed John, as emotions began to sweep over him.
