~~ Hullo! This side chapter is basically some random things I’d like to write that relate to the story! Basically, a break from writing, hehe. From: The Author ~~
Firstly, in case any of you don’t understand, I’d like to explain how salt (and vinegar) works on slimes! This relates back to how slugs are killed by salt! (If you have ever tried it, please know that the melting of slimes just makes them melt into a puddle of water-like substance. It’s not as disgusting)
So, to explain how slugs are killed by salt, we all know that salt drains water! When you sprinkle salt on a slug, it causes them to lose water/moisture rapidly through something called osmosis.
To put it simply, osmosis is a process where the water moves from where there is more water to where there is less. For slugs, this means that the salt makes it so that the water leaves the slug’s body to balance out the salt.
And therefore, the slug loses water rapidly, causing dehydration and eventually killing the slug!
To put this in terms of slimes, they also die because of osmosis! Instead of the very disgusting process which shall not be described, I just say that they melt into a pile of goop. Which is actually more accurate. Slimes (in this world) are basically just a living blob. Because they are alive, that’s why the blob is well... a blob. So osmosis makes them die, and then the blob can’t retain its shape.
Okay, onto the next part of this side chapter. I’ll be explaining how the wolves gained so much respect in Zaelen even though he’s just a slime-killing addict that has absolutely no interest in doing anything else unrelated!
As I’d mentioned in previous chapters, the slime wolves have a tradition. While I will not go into explicit details on what this tradition is, it basically states that all wolves need to follow their alpha’s commands unless it is highly unreasonable. One unreasonable expectation would be if the alpha or alphas told their pack to go jump off a cliff to their death!
The system also plays a part in this by judging whether the command is reasonable. Therefore, if it is, the wolves or wolf will be forced to obey it. Please keep in mind that the system does not have ‘feelings’ and therefore only intervene if it’s over the death of the entire pack. If only a few wolves die, it will not.
The wolves also instantly have a boost in respect for you as soon as you become alpha (because of the system). And since Zaelen is capable of making rational decisions (mostly for slime murder, however), and since the pack has basically become a slime-killing cult, in the pack’s eyes, Zaelen is a brilliant leader.
Okay, now I’ve ran out of ideas for explanations. Post comments about what you would like for me to explain in future side chapters! I will choose ones I believe to be needed or simply want to do!

I’m just going to do a story from a different character’s view, I hope that you enjoy. (You may also post comments about character POVs you would like to see)
This is from Nyx’s POV, from before the battle!
⋆❖^⧫/-\⧫^❖⋆
I padded through the forest, Aurora at my side. I felt my fur rise as an unfamiliar scent wafted through my nostrils.
“What...?” asked Aurora. “Nyx, do you smell that?”
“Yes, I do, Aurora.”
Rustle, rustle. A brown wolf stepped from the bushes. Only rogues are brown! Nyx gave a fearsome snarl.
“This is our territory!” he boomed. “Step off it now, or else.”
Aurora gave a low growl in the back of her throat. The rogue flinched. “Do not kill me, I beg of you. I have only come to pass on a message. I swear on my life that I mean no harm.”
That’s right. Rogues swear on their life instead of ranks because they do not have any. Nyx relaxed.
“And what is the message?” asked Aurora, curiosity in her voice.
“There is some sort of... monster out there... on the plains.” The rogue gave a visible shudder. “He’s killed a few radiant devourers, and many of the plain slimes. He’s like... a golden dragon that cannot fly.”
“A radiant devourer? One of the golden ones, you mean?” asked Nyx, shock thrumming through his body. The pack could take on one or two of the pink radiant devourers on their own, but the golden ones were out of their league. “How?”
The rogue shook his head. “I-I don’t know. I’ve never dared to go close enough to see. But it seems that he doesn’t use nay powerful magic, yet he’s too far to launch any physical attacks.”
Aurora tilted her head in befuddlement. “Wha...?”
The rogue bowed then turned. “This is all I have to say. I shall now pass this news on to the other packs.”
“May good hunting light your way!” called Aurora.
“And to you!” replied the rogue before disappearing into the bushes.
Nyx turned to Aurora. “What do you think of his story?” Aurora paused to think.
“I am not sure. However, I suspect that if it is neither magic nor any physical attack, the wingless dragon may be using items. Therefore... there is a perfect way to defeat it.”
Understanding rose in Nyx. “You mean by using the rules from the system.”
Aurora nodded. “It sounds like the monster relies on items. Even without the help of the pack, we are still formidable. And think of the benefits...”
Nyx’s eyes glazed over as he thought. The other packs in the surrounding area are already scared of us. If we tell them that we’ve defeated the monster...
“Well? What do you think of the plan?” remarked Aurora. “You make the final decision.”
Nyx slowly nodded his head. “Yes... we shall go through with it. We will go back to the camp and alert the pack. After all, there’s no real chance of us losing, is there? Especially with the special summoning essence we’ve saved up over eons. It should be enough to summon even an aetheric.”
However, the two alphas didn’t know how wrong they were.
