A Monday
Cliff to the North of Shady Oaks
A cloaked figure stood still as a statue, it's dark cloak whipped about from air that blows up from the lip of the cliff it stands at. A cliff that lays just beyond a massive wall that continue into the horizon, far beyond what the unaided eye can see. This cliff overlooked the great wall reveling the sprawling Megalopolis encompassed within.
If one was close enough to take a look and peer into the figure's hood, it would only reveal darkness that sank deeper and continued to sink deeper pulling the looker into its deeps. Drawing focus to the only thing visible in the dark hood, a pair of shining white lips. These lips were twisted in disgust as it continued to watch the city, bustling in even this late hour, for a few moments before speaking, in the innocent and slightly whiny voice of a young boy.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
“How do they continue to expand and hold so many in such a confined area, and yet do nothing as their planet lay dying?” As it finishes, two more cloaked figures step up on either side of the first, stepping into existence.
The new figure on the left spoke, it's lips a black that stood out against even the darkness of the hood. Her voice deep and husky coming out as a soft purr. “We should force them to the path. We cannot leave this to chance, it’s too important.”
The final figure responds, it's lips shift from a shining silver-grey to a dull grey with each word. The words themselves shift between a booming bellow to a breathy whisper. “You both KNOW why. THEY are INCREADIBLY adaptive and must CHOOSE. THIS time AND place ARE FAR TOO suitable to WHAT WE require.”
“If it must be then let us be on with it, the time is now," states the white-lipped figure.
“The time is now.” Echo the others.
A flash of lightning comes down from the clear sky, striking where the figures stand. As the flash clears the figures are gone. In their place is a giant set of numbers, so large they loom over the walls before them
