This is Cecilia Martin, a 16-year-old girl, average scores, good family, and lot of friends, a perfectly above average person in modern society. However, she has a little secret.
“I am really going crazy about this” said Cecilia sitting in a dark room, illuminated with light of her laptop screen with a certain gaming stream playing on it.
“He really said he is just 16?!” she was very surprised at the words of the certain streamer she was watching… no surprised is an understatement, she was low-key freaking out.
“Wait does that mean; I am not really a freak? Bro?? what is the odds?” while continuing her own solitary barrage of thoughts, the stream was already coming to and end. However, her thoughts where having no end, and that’s the story of how Cecilia martin didn’t have a wink pf sleep that night- fin.
----------------------------------------
I am Cecilia martin, and I am very tired-..! no I mean I have a little secret, ever since the end of middle school I has been madly in love in secret. I don’t know their name, address, facial features because my love is faceless streamer. I always thought I was a freak, yet I couldn’t just stop, BUT TODAY IT ALL STOPS, I FINALLY CONFIRMED HIS AGE.
“I am really glad he didn’t turn out to be 20 years older than me or something” said the tired Cecilia crumbled in her bed, before her thoughts were cut with a knock on the door.
“Dear Cecilia, you shall get up or you will be late for your first day” called the voice behind the room. “Yes mom, coming” replied Cecilia still thinking extremely hard on a way to escape the warm, safe embrace of her bed, and ultimately deciding to get up with a great force of will, making her way to the bathroom.
‘I really wonder if he live in this country as well, I mean the accent and everything… no, it was already super lucky he was of the same age group to begin with… it would be nice to know though, why keep all these secrets when you are already very popular… bruh of course because of people like us, can you guarantee, you won’t try to stalk him… I can try!... says a girl who fell head over hells for a guy just through his voice… weh?! Wait, what makes you better?! You are me!’
“Shut up intrusive thoughts” said Cecilia pinching the bridge of her nose as she finishes brushing her teeth and getting ready for school.
“Remember guys not a word outside of the house, we need to keep up the persona” ‘alright!’ ‘Roger!’ said Cecilia to herself like a madwoman before saying goodbye to her loving mother and leaving the house.
----------------------------------------
“Oi here Cecilia” shouted a bright-eyed girl calling for Cecilia, in the middle of the student crowds in front of the school. It was odd why such a crowd is outside of school and not inside it, considering only 10 minutes remain before the day starts. Furthermore, they didn’t seem to be moving at all.
“Mira? What is exactly happening?” said Cecilia after making her way through the crowd towards the caller, her friend Mira. “Not even saying I missed you first, you are truly brutal, Lia” said poor Mira clenching her heart from betrayal, before cutting the act and answering the question. “As far as my humble little smooth brains knows, it appears the neon boys’ school, you know the one in the north of the town, was caught in a building fire and burnt to crisp last month. It was all over the news how didn’t you notice?” asked Mira with one eyebrow raised up.
“Oh? I mean skip ads, never watch news, share memes, and never opened a TV since 2019. But what does this have to do with this situation?” asked Cecilia in return to Mira. “Think Sherlock, they spent a whole month in frenzy asking nearby schools to take in the students till they rebuild the school, and what do you think a sudden increase in students mean?” said Mira pointing at Cecilia hoping her friend will still have some braincells left in her. “Like… new class structure?” right after Cecilia made the grand conclusion, Mira clap her hands sarcastically in an awe of her friend astonishing intelligence.

“Exactly, they are putting us in new classes, they will be calling us one by one in ten minutes. Don’t cry if we weren’t in the same class” said Mira with a little smug on her face. “No crying over fake people, and we will meet at lunch anyway” said Cecilia returning her friends sarcasm right in the face. “Tsk truly cold, Lia. How dare thee insult my great self, I shall punish you properly later. Trust” said Mira was a fake expression of hurting. “Trust, I will be waiting, demon queen. I think they are starting to call the names, never meet you in class BYE!” said Cecilia with a smile on her face as she walks away from her friend. She has been friends with Mira since the dawn of time, and they have reached the point where they have their own language, truly a match made in heaven.
----------------------------------------
However, the heavens decided to answer Cecilia words and now she was in a whole new class, one she knew no one in. tasting the betrayal of this world, she was absolutely frozen, and empty inside.
’23 people from my last class, HOW ON EARTH IS IT POSSIPLE TO HAVE NONE IN THE NEW CLASS. THE ODDS!!’ however, while she was silently screaming inside, a group of boys was talking right next to her.
“So, Austin, any excuses why you refused to play with us yesterday?” “Yea as a member of the council of men I am truly disappointed in you, tin” “never thought you will plunge such a sword right in my heart, what about our child??”
“Ok, that on was pretty far, drake, don’t bring children in this” replied a rough looking guy presumed to be the so-called Austin “so you didn’t deny they exist?” said drake with a grin on his face. “What?! Hey that’s not what I meant!” said Austin catching drake by the collar. “That explains why you never invited us to the basement” said a red-haired youth standing next to the two guys. “Huh?... sigh look” said Austin leaving drake and crumbling back to his seat. “I was so focused yesterday on finishing a certain game” said Austin refusing to elaborate. “Game name?” “the legend of Xonos: war cry” just as he finished the line, the three guys burst in laughter teasing the guy. It was a really old game, and a very unpopular one at that, because it was made by one developer who was already dead. However, right in the next seat Cecilia was even more frozen, throwing a death glare at the Austin guy.
‘THE LEGEND OF XONOS??? THAT WAS ON LAST NIGHT STREAM? CAN IT BE??’ Cecilia was in a state beyond confusion, so much that she didn’t notice the death glare she was sending at that guy for a while now, until he stared back snapping her back to reality. “AH!...” returning to reality she looked the other way, pretending to not notice the guys at all, taking critical damage from Austin remarking “weird” before leaving her be. The rest of the day flew by, Ceclia was dead on the outside the entire day, walking like the emotionless zombie she is. However, her mind was in a mess, overthinking the whole thing.
‘It is too much to be a coincidence… wake up woman! Aren’t no way I am letting you ask a random guy if he was a retro game streamer… why not, what is there to lose!!... I don’t know? Think of how embarrassing it will be, for everyone in the school to know the oh great Cecelia doesn’t touch grass?... come onnnn it is not that bad, I am not that hard of a gamer… we played league of lemons in middle school, girl… oh that’s bad’
The thoughts just kept arguing in the poor girl’s head, not letting her back in reality until she was in bed that night looking up HandBook posts. Her eyes widen at a post from the account of ‘the man in charge’ the streamer she is so in love with.
“Hello everyone, here is the man in charge. I am so sorry, but I won’t be able to stream for a while. I am so occupied with my new school; you won’t believe it if I told you my old school got a visit from the demon lord himself. That’s all for today, MAN OUT!”
Cecilia wasn’t stupid. However, she had zero trust in this cruel world. “This must be some sort of a cosmic prank, no way in hell that is true” which kept her denying the strings in front of her. “Asking is too risky, I need another way, I need a way to talk to the man” finishing that word, the girl jumped out of her bed. With a crazy idea in her mind, she grabbed her laptop. “don’t I just need to forcibly get in his world then?? SO, BE IT!”
And that’s how the channel ‘the girl in charge’ came to be, through the paranoia and social anxiety of a teenage girl, chasing her own fantasy.
