"So let me get this straight.... Your power is 'weapon attraction'? That's..... nice," The dwarf I now knew as Kristen squinted at me, "Well.... You could be the..... Distraction?"
"Useless, that's what he can be." Liamon, or rather Liam as he liked to be called, snickered at me, we were currently sitting on a picnic blanket while spying on the old man. The park was, luckily, filled with lots of people of all ages, some running, reading, eating, playing and some even spying (That's us). The park itself was split in three different sections with beautifully cut rose hedges, the middle smallest section decorated with children's obstacle courses and equipment like swings and monkey bars. Surrounding the left half of the children's section of the park was the peaceful section where we currently were with picnicks and families all around. And finally surrounding the other half of the children's section and the last section of the park was the labyrinth, my second worst enemy.
"I don't really care if you call me useless, as long as I don't fail school then I'm fine with coming with you and not doing anything, anyways what are your skills?" I glanced at them.
"Well, my skill is 'material information'. I can just stare at something and then I would know what it is and how to use it to my advantage," Kristen chattered excitedly, "Your turn Liam."
"Fine..." Liam groaned, "My skill is apparently called 'body teleportation', I can pen up portals and put any body part through it. But only my body parts nothing else. And the place I teleport my hand to can only be where I have been to and remembers it or have seen it on an image."
"How bout you Dei?" Turning to look at the silent girl, I realized she hadn't even eaten one bite of her sandwich.
"I can make my luck increase and decrease other people's luck," She stated before turning away.
She's changed so much.
"How come you guys have way cooler skills?"
"Life's biased." Liam chewed on a chocolate chip cookie as crumbs spilled all over him.
A light wind blew over the park brushing against the giant willow tree we were sitting under, I could feel the trunk sway with the wind in an elegant pattern like dance. While I watched my 'teammates' practically inhale their sandwiches Dei silently crept away from us and went away without any of us knowing.
"So anyways what's with spying on this old man anyways? Are we the bad guys?" Picking up a piece of bright blue cupcake and biting into it I looked at the others expectantly.
"Well, this 'old man' is a part of a secret agency known as 'KFC'-" Kristen began.
"Wait... K...F...C? Kentucky fried chicken? That's another horrible na-"
"It stands for Killing Function Centre," Kristen huffed out, "Stop interrupting me okay? Good now. KFC has been our enemy forever. What they do is that they innocent people and turn them into monsters. One of our scouts saw that they inject some sort of serum into your body which slowly turns you into a monster!" She was probably exaggerating, although from the other's looks she's probably not.
"Well, as long as I don't die I'll be fine," I said, blowing at one strand of leaves from the willow tree that had been annoying me.
I swear I will cut you down if you don't get out of my-
Wait........ where's Dei?
"Hey any of you seen De-"
"OH MY GOSH DEI'S GONE!" Kristen gasped as she shot up. Liamon quickly followed, brushing some crumbs off. And soon they were dashing off to the labyrinth.
"Yup... just ignore me then... it's not like I have feelings anyways," I muttered before going after them with my sandwich in hand.
They just had to go to the labyrinth didn't they?
As Kristen and Liam ran straight through the labyrinth I turned my head to my right and saw what I thought was a streak of auburn hair on the other bush doorway of one of the labyrinth 's resting rooms. Without thinking I sprinted across the makeshift room and grabbed at the hair just barely touching it. Before it could disappear I managed to spin around and see where it went.
"GUYS I FOUND DE- Oh carp!" Being the clutz I was I stumbled over a twig and accidentally bit my tongue,
"Jrake? Where are you? Oh there you are!" Crashing through the bushes a short monster, that I presumed was Kristen, appeared. It was like she had crashed landed from a tornado filled with twigs. Her head with her messy bun now resembled a dishevelled nest that could rival my locker in school (My locker's still messier). Her once clean jackets riddled with patterns of spots now looked as if it was a camouflage suit with branches and leaves clinging onto it, her bottom half didn't look any better though. The beautifully made jeans now bore the look of a mud pie with patches of dirt sprinkled on top. I could only tell it was her only by the bright heterochromia eyes.
"Ah, an ugly forest dwarf." Sarcastically raising my hands in the air, I heard a scoff come from behind the bushes before a pair of hands burst through a portal right behind Kristen and split the bush in half. Revealing an infamous narcissist with his hands in a portal and, to my disappointment, a clean blue t-shirt patterned with mysterious swirls.
"Hey, I saw Dei go through th-"
"No time to speak gotta go find Dei before she gets herself in trouble again." Liam bounded forward and this time I followed hastily.
"Oh are you okay Jrake? Thanks for finding Dei Jrake," I muttered.
Again? I never thought Dei was a clumsy person.

Bushes scraped across my skin while we ran around the labyrinth looking for a lost auburn haired girl at the same time trying not to get lost ourselves. Not a good combination. Unbeknownst to me and Liam, Kristen herself had crashed through the bushes making her own way in the labyrinth .
I hope they have insurance on paying this labyrinth because I'm gonna do what's called a pro gamer move.
And I also shoved myself through the bush walls of the labyrinth and waded through leaving behind whatever chaos I was creating.
Make sure to follow Kristen. Make sure to not lose Kristen. Her skill is useful in this. I think it was being able to tell a material and how to use it to her use right? Why am I saying right? Why am I even asking myself questions? This is gonna become an endless cycle-
My thoughts were cut off when I collided with a pebble- Oh sorry, it was just Kristen.
"What the h-" Instantly putting her hand on top of my mouth she shushed me and shrugged towards what I presumed was the centre of the labyrinth . I knew because there was a treasure chest with thousands of toys in there,
"What do they think are worthy prizes these days? I'd much rather get a 'free from missions ticket," I scoffed.
"Ha. This your first mission but you're already quitting? Pathetic." Liam lumbered next to me smirking victoriously.
"Well at least unlike you I have the courage to get myself dirty when helping people." Luckily, if Kristen hadn't stopped Liam's fist from landing on me I wouldn't be able to have anymore snack days.
Thanks Kristen I take back most of the short insults I said to you. Most...
The centre of the labyrinth had a flower made ceiling on top giving it a colourful and spiritual atmosphere. There were fourways into the middle of the labyrinth each on one side. A blue spiral was sprayed onto the grass circling, reaching out into the different directions we could go into. Each of the stripes were different colours, one blue, one white, one red and one orange. And there at the corner of the area in a makeshift cage was Dei with her knees against her chest gazing into the sky.
Is she having an existential crisis right now? Can't she existential crisis later though.
"You guys.... Too heavy." And those were the last words of Kristen Amberson before she got crushed by two fourteen year old boys. Oh wait nevermind she's still alive.
Just before we crashed on top of her a pair of hands shot out from underneath her and saved us by supporting Kristen.
"You guys all owe me a cup of iced lemon tea later," Liam gritted, shaking me off his back and climbing off Kristen himself. We had crashed through the walls of the labyrinth into the centre of the labyrinth . Surprising Dei, whom we knew was there, and also surprising the old man we were spying on, whom we didn't know was there.
Uh oh.
"Um hi there?" The messy girl waved with an awkward smile. That apparently was not the correct gesture to do to the old man as he suddenly started to scream.
"Liam try to free Die I'll try to think up a way to defeat this guy. Jrake.....Distract him. Okay go go go," Kristen commanded and we all leapt into action. Liam teleporting his hands into the cage and lock picking the metal while Kristen sprints around the area. I myself was just.... Running. The man's skin had started to bubble and melt, reforming himself into a sort of chimera. His old wispy hair had thickened into the mane of a ferocious tsva lion while a wart that had been from his neck started to sprout out and resemble the head of a venomous inland taipan. Teeth sharpening tremendously at an extreme rate until they were sharp enough to cut through Liam's self love. Pretty sharp.
A scaled tail grew from his spine as well as a pair of wings sprouting from his back. Deep red lined with spots of orange flapped open and revealing what had happened to the old man, he had transformed into a lion, snake and dragon chimera.
Aw shiitake mushrooms. Let's do this then.
I suppose I should probably actually try to do my job then.
"Hey old man! Maybe you should spend your time reading newspapers and doing what old men do rather than trying to kill a bunch of fourteen year olds. I'm pretty sure that would let you have more money than killing people." As I waved my hands around me I glismped some people running away and leaving the park empty.
Great. At least now I don't have to try to save anyone.
"Follow me you oversized meat bag!" I ran for my life.
Mr. Chimera immediately dashed towards me as I crashed through the labyrinth . Leaves flew all over the park, spraying over any passersby that had been unlucky enough to be near us. Brambles scratched at me as if to stop me from going forward and wanting me to get eaten by the chimera. The brambles seemingly thickened as I sprinted towards the outside of the labyrinth desperately.
"FINALLY- Wow!" Rolling out of the labyrinth I awkwardly landed in a dip in a hill, I layed down tiredly. Sweat trickled down my head as my body shook at the traumatizing experience. All it took was a roar from the Chimera and I was up and running again. Although this time. This time I had a plan. While the Chimera was darting around the park, trying to look for me I presumed, I hid behind a tree. A thick one don't worry.
Okay, I got this all i have to do is get ne-
Sadly I couldn't finish my thought as the Chimera had apparently sniffed me out and was now on a straight course bounding towards me like an over excited dog. Except with wings and a scaly tail. And two heads that were currently shooting out to bite me. Jaws wide open both heads attempted to bite down on me, and he would have succeeded if Dei hadn't pushed me out of the way and miraculously missed the two head's bites.
"How in the wh... wh.. How did he miss?" I stuttered out flabbergasted.
"I told you. I can adjust the luck of people and that includes myself." Dei, being Dei, whipped out a sort of gun that was also a sword. Silver lined the tips handle of the gun and the tips of the sword, the weapon looked like a rifle but instead of a long barrel in its place was the blade of a sword. At the tip of the sword was an opening that allows bullets to be shot out. Shiny red swirls accented the gun-sword's blade making it look extra fancy to kill people with.
"Why didn't you just use that earlier?" Giving her the 'are you kidding me look', I crawled up and watched the fight. It seemed that Dei had managed to dodge all the Chimera's attacks and was amazingly landing blows on the Chimera. The park had now been deserted and surprisingly no siren was coming right now. Probably because the police didn't believe the witnesses that a huge Chimera was chasing a 14 year old through the park.
Back to the fight, Dei seemed to have shot out a bullet that landed near Chimera's stomach making Chimera leave blood tracks where he went and blood also spilling from his mouth. Just when it seemed as though Dei had managed to thin out Chimera's confidence he managed to slash at Dei's arm and fled. Without wasting a moment I ran with all my might towards Dei,
"You good? That does not look good." Wincing slightly at the scratch I attempted to comfort Dei. The scratch was gushing out blood at an alarming rate with red swelling starting forming around it. As far as I could see the scratch circled around her arm in a spiral motion. It hurt just to look at it and judging by Dei's expression it was as bad as it looked.
"Okay don't worry. Um... Okay, don't worry it'll heal up as soon as we get back to the base. Hopefully." Let's just say comforting wasn't my forte. Because of me too busy stumbling over my words I didn't notice Kristen and Liam coming out of the chaos that used to be the labyrinth covered in piles of garbage.
"Where'd the Chimera go? I have a certain thing I want to say to him that even an animal would understand," Liam growled as he limped towards us with an arm wrapped around Kristen's shoulder.
"Oh my gosh! Dei got scratched and I don't... Wha?" Confused as to what to say I gestured wildly around first at Dei and then at them and just acted confused.
"Wow! We'd better take her back to the base! And we'll tell you what happened on the way okay?" I could only nod at that statement. Kristen took off Liam's arm and sort of hauled him towards me and when she was satisfied that I had a good grip on him went to get Dei. And then we all went back to the massive building known as our base.
