Dents

Little robot child, do as you're told. Don't say when you need oil, don't ask for repairs, don't ever cry.

You're a good kid, robot child, you're so self sufficient. You get your own oil, give yourself patches.

Here's praise for you, robot child. That should be enough, right? You don't need more.

I wish I had built a different model, robot child. I love you, but I wish I had that other model instead.

I'm angry at you, robot child. There's nothing you could have done differently. But it's your fault. I'm going to dent you with a wrench. Don't tell. Don't ever say anything or else you'll be stolen away.

I tell you to that I'm teaching you to think for yourself, I tell you that I want you to have your own opinions. But robot child, don't disagree with me. What I say is law. And the law decrees that I dent you with a wrench if you disagree.

I've given you another robot child to play with. This is your sibling. Love them. Take care of them. We're alone, so I have to be away. What do you mean you don't want a sibling?

Robot child, your sibling may have done this, but I'm blaming you because you are the eldest, you're supposed to be watching them. Sure, you're only a child, but I am not around so you have to watch them.

Robot child, are you malfunctioning? You used to be such a good kid. What happened? I know we're alone now but you're seeing a mechanic for that. Isn't that enough? You aren't trying hard enough.

Don't tell, don't tell anyone, robot child. You'll be stolen. We can patch the dents.

We aren't alone anymore, aren't you happy? Why aren't you happy? Do you need a mechanic? That's too expensive. You're too old for this.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Robot child, you've started leaking again. I keep denting you but you don't learn. Stop leaking. It's disgusting. Don't you feel disgusting?

I wish I built that other model.

Do not cry. I will give you dents with a wrench, but he has a sledgehammer.

Why are you being like this, robot child? You leak, you won't stop crying, you make all the other robot children ridicule you. If you just stopped, it'd be fine. You wouldn't suffer like this.

Why won't you talk about it? It must not have been that bad. He's only going to jail for what he's done to your sibling, and it's your fault. You won't talk about it. Sure, I did see him do things to you, but I won't say anything.

Robot child, you told me that an admin at the facility was taking you behind the building to make sure you patch the leak. You told me they said I told them to, but I didn't. You looked so upset. I think you still blame me. I just want you to patch the leak.

Robot child, it's time for you to grow up. You can't keep this up. Your sibling had it worse. You're just being a baby.

Why is it still bothering you? Why are you still leaking now? Stop letting it have power over you.

Don't tell, don't tell, don't tell. How could you tell? It'll be your fault if they steal you. It'll be your fault if they steal anything else.

Why are you so sad?

Robot child, I'm tired of you arguing with me. I know best. I know I said I was teaching you to think on your own. But you can't use it against me.

Robot child, I'm going to dent you so much it leaves a crater in your chest. You better stop hiding and come with me right now. I know that you hate this, but I don't care.

Don't tell.

Robot child, if you don't start jumping higher and running faster at the facility, I'm going to dent you. These results are unacceptable. I don't care if you're sad. What? That's still bothering you? Get over it.

Robot child, it looks like you're malfunctioning. What's wrong?

You need to let go of your angst, robot child. You're nearly an adult.

I'm going to make you do the chores by yourself because you do them better than your sibling. What do you mean it's too much? What do you mean it's too hard? Why do you take so long?

I'm going to tell you to read this book about someone who dissembles their robot while the robot is still alive. You don't have it that bad. I'm going to dent you.

What do you mean you need repairs? You can patch yourself, right? Why do you keep malfunctioning?

Robot child, I'm going to tell you that thing you're scared to tell me is fine and then I'm going to mock you for it because it makes me uncomfortable.

I won't say outright that you're a failure and I'm disappointed, but I will say that I wish I had built the other model. And later, I'll tell you that I only said this because I don't know how to fix your model.

Robot child. I love you. But you do so many things that I don't like. You keep malfunctioning. You really did learn to think for yourself. You keep telling me that I hurt you but I don't understand how.

Robot child, don't tell.
