Arc 6: The Story So Far

Arc 6: The Story So Far

Ruyo is a former merchant who became the new Goddess of Water, with the raw potential of divinity but little of the power... yet. She learned about the basics of her powers with the help of water spirit Nusina, and used them to foil a kidnapping and begin getting people to offer her the prayers she needs.

Ruyo trained with nobles of the city-state of Averell, defeated a dangerous spirit and some gangsters, and got violently tested by the monks of the town of Brotherhood.

The monks proved to be guarding the imprisoned ancient God of Light. Ruyo agreed to help kill it. The kidnappers' cult set fire to Averell and kidnapped Nusina. Ruyo managed to continue without her, exploring a ruined high-tech hospital.

Ruyo's growing entourage fought their way back to rescuing Nusina, while a war began between Averell and the northern nation of Khyber for control of an artifact called the Shroud. The group began supplying some troops by magic, while delving deeper into the hospital for clues to its full technology.

Finally, Ruyo got called upon to join the war directly. Though not combat-focused, she fought with Averell's army and ultimately killed the enemy general, stealing the Shroud back. Except, she didn't just hand the thing back... she let her friend and bodyguard Elly attempt the magical test hidden within it.

Hail to Ruyo, new Goddess of Water!

(If she can get people to believe in gods who show themselves.)

Once a humble merchant, now powered by the prayers and shrines of her followers.

(She's busy trying to earn that praise.)

Slayer of monsters, explorer of ruins, patron deity of the southern city-states.

(Who aren't sure how far their old religion must bend for her.)

She returns in triumph from thwarting the northern hordes who stole the southlands' holy Shroud.

(She drained its power forever, for arguably good reasons.)

Hail to Ruyo, she of water, bounty, and magic!

(She needs all the help she can get.)
