Prologue One 30 years ago

Mark Whitmore was chained to the wall being interrogated. His dark black skin was bruised all over from the beating he had endured. He was struggling just to breath. He could see the Pearle whites of his tormentor as he entered the room.

The door was in the corner beside which was a glass plane. He knew behind the glass were various investigators he had even stood on that side of the glass before. The man entering the room took a slow deliberate stride. He seemed so out of place with what could only be a tailor-made suit. He could see the mans bright pearly whites forming a wicked smile. He knew the man took delight in his humiliation.

He had seen men like this before when he used to do field work, men who took delight in the misery of others. Mark tried to put on a brave front but he knew he looked pathetic. What man wouldn’t look bad after being tortured for months.

All of a sudden, a light flashed behind his tormentor blinding him. Mark only considered this as a new way they were trying to break him. Before he noticed a new silhouette appeared in the light. The man was wearing shades along with all black clothes. The man to be honest just looked shady.

“WE KNOW YOU WERE THERE,” his tormenter angrily screamed at him. “now tell me what happened!” His voice echoed in the room with the only noise being his heavy breathes. They had done this many times but despite how many times he told the story they never believed him.

“Now tell me what happened starting from the beginning.”

Alwin began hitting Mark with a baton to coax him into telling him what happened again. All it took was a couple of hits to make him start talking. He finally pleaded for mercy whimpering “I’ll speak I’ll speak”. Alwin stopped giving Mark enough respite to tell his tale. In a way the story had become a comfort because it was the only time they would stop hurting him.

Although the story seemed fantastical, he did not know what to say. The story just seemed so unbelievable even to him and he was there when it happened. If only it was a bad dream or a work of fiction then maybe he wouldn’t be getting tortured.

One man alone had broken into the Legion’s capital and killed the emperor, just a single Granav. Although he knew they would not believe him he still told him his story just for a moment respite. So, he began to tell his tale to his tormenter.

It had been 200th year the second month on the 14th, on valentine’s day. It had would definitely be a day to remember. The mans ship just appeared out of the sky with a shockwave. He remembered seeing the ship. He could tell the ship was old because it had a Space fold engine (SF engine). The only groups that used that used that archaic technology were space pirates and wealthy merchants in the outer worlds.

The technology had been abandoned for the space fold gates which had been constructed more than 300 years ago. The idiots who were dumb enough to space fold to Legion HQ must have been the luckiest bastards alive but they would be dead soon at least that was what he thought.

He was about to activate the automated air defenses but the ship quickly landed.

He remembered seeing the giant crest on the ship. The ship had a lion faced shield with two dragon heads on the side. As the head of security tasked with the Legions emperor safety, he knew a variety of symbols and instantly recognized this symbol as the Granav coat of arms. The security members instantly surrounded the intruders ship while calling the military for backup.

The door of the ship opened revealing one man. He remembered seeing the man on the camera with a green hood a cloak with a matching coat of arms both on the cloak and matching shield on his arm. The men did everything by the book they told him to surrender be he just kept walking to the building. After the warning they began to open fire with their pistols light up the area like a constellation in the sky.

No matter how the men fired or aim they could not seem to harm the man and could not do more than ruffle the man’s cloak. The man began walking closer to the palace reaching near his neck to undo the clasp holding the cloak allowing it to drift in the wind. The man was white with silver hair. On his back were two crystal spikes luminating the night sky.

He waved his hand and all of the men flew 20 feet in the air before falling back down becoming incapacitated or dead. The security forces prepared to ambush him at gate from the safety of the mansion but the gate hardly slowed him down. The gate became just decoration as the metal bars crumpled into a ball and began to heat up. Then with another wave of his hand the ball split apart into to pieces as small as rain drops. The heated metal drops of steel tor the mansion apart killing everyone above ground.

MARK prepared to evacuate the emperor but he punched the ground creating a perfect circle around the mansion sinking it along with the surrounding land six feet down. Such a simple act ruined all prep work and secret plans to escape. His heart was racing, his legs noodles with each breath feeling like poison at the thought of facing what could only be called a monster.

He walked to the bunkers entrance almost as if he knew where it was. He ripped open the door with his bare hands like he was opening a normal door. Although the compound was large he went straight to the emperors room. The emperor was on his throne looking glorious the man was going on two hundred and thirty years old something unheard of at the time Mark thought he was immortal.

The emperor began to yell at the man his voice shaking the ground sending out a shockwave which destroyed the wall behind the intruder but the intruder was unmoved. The emperor had fear on his face Mark left the security room to face the intruder. By the time he arrived he could see a bleeding emperor in the intruders’ hands being held up by his collar.

He fired his gun at the intruder but all the bullets all stopped a few feet away from the intruder midair before falling to the floor. All it took was a look from the intruder and the air began to vibrate causing Mark to begin feeling sick from the changing pressure. He saw the emperor whisper a couple words and that’s all it took. The intruder walked away while Mark on the other hand passed out.
