Chapter 3: No seriously, system what the hell.

Doing her stretches five days after the fateful day she gained her newest quest, Alenes mind wandered to and fro, not thinking about anything in particular. It was just another day after all, what was there to think abou-

Heat spread throughout her body. "Oh!" With a wide grin on her face, she shifted from her attempts at a split and sat crisscrossed on the wooden floor. 'This feels different!' Instead of an overwhelming feeling of power, instead, she found herself gently vibrating, her mind buzzed, eyes darted about, and everything seemed like it was slightly in slow-motion. 'Woah...' Her hand waved through the air, and as it did so she could track its movements, could feel the air vibrating around it in ways she couldn't before. 'This is WEIRD.'

Congratulations! Your Movement is now 0.2/0.6

Congratulations! Your Reflex is now 0.3/1

The warmth faded, and with it, her body stopped vibrating. 'That felt weird. Good, but weird.' With a quick motion that was so much easier, she kipped up to her feet. 'Now, let's check this out. Run from here to my door and back a few times? Sounds like a plan!' With the thought of testing it out, she turned towards her door and...

"OWW!" Slammed face-first into her door. Holding her reddened nose, a giggle escaped her. "That was COOL!" Seemingly uncaring for the pain her face was in, her prodigious mind whirled into action doing calculations, before she came to a startling conclusion. 'I'm nearly TWO times as fast? Just with that increase? Holy shit, is each 0.1 increase a FLAT increase?' Indeed, after all - although beforehand her Movement was still 0.1 she WAS a bit faster than when she had 'woken up' nearly two weeks ago. 'Again. HOLY SHIT. Wait, wait. Am I ACTUALLY as physically strong as my cousin? How?!? My muscles aren't THAT large, he's significantly taller than me, his organs/bones/musculature should be more developed, AND as much as I hate to say it because this setting is gonna shove it into my face, he IS a man, and I definitely don't have that between my legs.'

Her eyes narrowed in thought. 'Considering this is Warhammer: System, are you actively changing my Genes/DNA akin to the Primarchs OR altering individual body parts and organs much like Space Marines?' In response to her thoughts, a horrifying sensation crawled up her spine, as her stomach instinctively heaved, bile rose into her throat, and her nose watered as a noxious smell crashed into her.

For a brief moment her vision was filled with a golden light, thousands of silver 1s and 0s flickering by, before everything returned to normal, her stomach settled, and the chill that spread across her skin that she had only noticed now gone. Alenes stood there, still holding her nose, completely baffled and utterly horrified. 'Was... was that who I think it was?' She took a great heaving breath of fresh air - only to gag. A horrible smell filled her nostrils, and it was only now that her eyes spotted around her the wood was now rotting. 'Fuck. Fuck. IT WAS. Did... did a Chaos God just hijack my system for a moment? What the fuck just happened system?'

Yet, she got no answer. Her fist clenched, yet she didn't rant, rave, or question. There was no point, she couldn't force the system after all. A few calming deep breaths were taken, before with a shuddering sigh she nodded. 'Fine, it's not like I can do anything to you or anything. You can just say what you want when you want.' Calmed down slightly, she looked at the floor and sighed. 'This isn't bad enough for me to convince cousin we need to move, but well, that was a Chaos God, who knows what he left behi-' Her gaze caught the walls. The ceiling. "Never mind." With quick steps enhanced by her previously increased movement, she went into her room grabbed up everything important, dropped it outside, and then went into her cousins room and gathered his stuff, before doing the same. 'Five... four... three... tw-'

BOOM! Blank blue eyes watched as the roof of her house crumbled inward, and walls buckled. Eyes enhanced by both her Physical and Reflex stats sedately watched as a singular maggot seemed to wiggle out of the walls before with almost a sneer it glanced at her, before poofing away. "Fuck you too?" 'Jesus, the Chaos Gods are fucking dicks. How did he even have enough oomph to materialize that much corrosion around and on me?' Yet, her enhanced mind answered the question the second she asked the question. 'The quest talked about Cults. Fuck. I was hoping it was just a cult too a Daemon, or maybe one of the Minor Chaos Gods... but of Big Fleabag? Shit. Still, if he was able to do that, why didn't he just blow up my brain or something? Unless he couldn't because of the system? Or... I'm more valuable alive, yet enough of a threat where is worth the rather obvious and risky corruption attempt? But why, and how does he even know enough about the System to hijack it?'

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"Shit, fuck. I can't think about this now, I gotta go tell Cousin our house just collapsed!" Looking over their stuff one last time, Alenes dashed off into the village proper and weaved through people at full speed trying to find her cousin. He wasn't training today, so he was patrolling somewhere. Whether that was in the village proper, or in one of the fields... well she didn't know. 'I really should know more about my cousin's FREAKING JOB!'

It was a solid twenty minutes later she came across her cousin. He dressed in a weird and old black uniform, with a sword sheathed on his hip, and a shield on his back. 'Wait, that's not the armor I was expecting - wait, when dad wore this it was his guard uniform? Does this village have some kind of old Imperium Armo- no! Not now.' "COUSIN! Cousin!"

She nearly crashed into him, but at the last moment, he turned and scooped her up. "Woah there squirt! What's wrong, what's got you in a panic?"

"Cousin! The house! It- it COLLAPSED!"

His eyes widened in shock and a second later he sat her down and began panickedly tapping all across her body. "Are you okay? Alenes are you hurt?"

"I'm fine cousin! But, but the house!"

"Screw the house, all that matters is your safe!"

Tears bubbled up in her eyes, for once not fake, and she launched herself again into his arms, and a few sniffles escaped. "I'm fine cousin! I even got most of our stuff out."

A heavy sigh escaped from him. "That's good, I'm happy you're safe. C'mon, I have to go tell Lord Knight what happened, and then we can figure out what we're gonna do, alright?"

"Alright cousin!"

He hiked her up so that he could hold her to his hip with one hand, and began walking off to the Lord Knights manor. "Now remember, be kind and polite when you meet him. You don't have to bow because I'm a Guard and Uncle was a guard too, but don't be rude either, alright?"

"Alright Cousin."

"Thatta girl."

----------------------------------------

Arriving at the Lord Knights manor, they were quickly escorted inside by the guards outside of it. 'Huh, their stats are pretty similar. I guess even though Cousin is a newbie, because of the sheer gap between each stat there's not much difference, outside of .1 in reflex and movement. Their strength and willpower are pretty similar.'

As the large opulent doors opened, showcasing that even this world inherited the Imperium's grandness, a butler quickly appeared. "Guardsmen. You're here to see the Lord Knight?" His voice was suave and well-cultured, yet an eerie sensation emanated from him in Alenes ethereal senses. 'System, observe him please.'

'Well, fuck. I REALLY hoped the Cultists were just some random person in the village... please don't be an enemy, Lord Knight, please don't.' A minute passed as the butler led them through the mansion, leading them to another grand opulent set of double doors, which he opened revealing the Lord's Office. The first thing that hit her was smell. Not of rotting decay, but of heavy incense. The next thing was the Lord Knight himself. A large man sat behind that desk, clearly if he was standing upright he would be well over six feet tall. His muscles were gigantic, each arm larger than her own head. A startling intelligence shined in beady black eyes, which had already been trained on the door before it even opened completely. In front of him on his desk were a few strange objects, a pile of paper, and a blank book. On the wall behind him, a sword just as large as the man hung. Yet, what caught her gaze was what was besides it. Two weeks before, she wouldn't have recognized it. But now? How could she not recognize the well-cared-for musket? 'System, observe, please.'

'Fuck.'

"Aah, Jonathan, and Alenes too! How wonderful to see you again child. What can I help you two with?" The Lord Knight the heretic's voice boomed out, warm, friendly, yet loud and deep.

"Lord Knight Conray! I'm requesting the day off due to our house collapsing." Her cousin's voice was nowhere near as loud or deep, yet just as friendly and far more respectful.

The Lord's eyes widened. "Of course! Of course! Take the time you need, in fact - take tomorrow off as well as you figure out where you'll temporarily live. Is everyone okay?" It was clear to see why the man was so loved. His friendliness, warm demeanor, and general 'I'm a big fluffy papa bear' were so perfect that even knowing he was a worshipper of Chaos, Alenes couldn't find a single flaw.

"Luckily Alenes made it out in time, no one was harmed Lord Knight, and thank you for your graciousness!" Her cousin looked towards her and she hurriedly nodded.

"Thank you, Lord Knight we appreciate it a lot!"

He chuckled, his eyes having a subtle twinkle to them. "It's no problem, my dear. What's important is that everyone is safe. Now, Jonathan, I'll see you in two days for your training. Alenes dear, be safe, and I hope the coming weeks and months are better than the previous."

"Yes, Lord Knight!"

The butler quickly escorted them out of the mansion, the quick meeting done. Once they were a sufficient distance away, Jonathan shook his head. "I still can't believe our Lord Knight is so kind, I've heard horror stories about others..." His words were whispered at the end, and in response she patted him on the shoulder. 'Sorry Jonathan. But I'm pretty sure he either plans to sacrifice the entire village, or turn us all into plague monsters.'

"Right, why don't we get our stuff and go talk to Miss Fenn about moving in for a short while? Besides, you need to speak to her, don't think I didn't notice your growth spurt!"

A shiver went down Alenes spine at her cousin's words. 'No... not MORE time with that monster.' Yet, she didn't reveal her trepidation and horror and instead sullenly nodded. "Yes, Cousin."

An amused chuckle escaped from him. "She's not that bad Alenes." She didn't respond, but the look she gave him said it all. 'Yes, yes she is.'
