The sound of gunfire told me I didn't have much time before I had to move again as I looked through the scope of my MK 115 Ultra. It was a true beauty, an ultra slim railgun meant to kill targets from at least 5,000 meters away. My target was a Kaelar captain, a huge brute at just over 3 meters tall with four arms and four legs. He looked like what you would get if you crossed a gorilla and a centaur.
With a pull of the trigger and the expected bang of the rifle I had to move fast, so I quickly got to my feet while slinging my rifle over my shoulder by its strap. I ran out of my nest at the top floor of the building heading to the roof when several booms shook the building. I had placed mines all throughout the building to buy me time for my ride to get here. I finally made it to the roof and jogged my way to some barricades I had set up in case something went wrong and I have to make a stand here. I had plenty of ammo and a few more goodies I hope I get to save for another rainy day.
"Command this is Hunter, ETA on extraction" I asked as more shudders and booms run through the building as the Kaelar slave troops get closer.
"Roger Hunter, ETA 30 Minutes, confirm." Now i'm starting to get nervous as I don't even have five minutes before they get here.
"Command, Confirmed." you stupid Terran fuck, I think to myself as I start moving with a lot more urgency to make sure I have another way out. I tie some nano-rope around one of the barricades and throw the other end off the roof behind me when one of my sensors start beeping rapidly at me. I freeze suddenly as I realize the enemy has passed through my last mines and make a mad dash to the barricades, slinging my rifle back into a ready position, as I aim at the only door that leads up here.
I rest the Ultra on the barricade still aiming at the door so I can look at a holo-screen strapped to the underside of my left forearm. I had only been supplied with three cameras which I put one in the lobby, and one in the stairwell just above the door on the inside. The third was still with me as I didn't need it, but looking at the screen I could see a Terran slave on the other side, hesitating to open the door. I made the choice for him as I sent a round through the door at chest height, completely obliterating the poor guys torso, and garnered shouts from further within the building as they finally knew where I was.
Damn, i'm so screwed, I thought as I started seeing more and more coming up the stairs. Seeing that they were gathering just one flight of stairs down I let out a resigned sigh. Something was wrong, they shouldn't be that organized.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
"Command this is Hunter, cancel extraction for possible trap" I said already knowing they wouldn't argue in favor of trying to get me out of this.
"Roger Hunter, extraction cancelled, good luck Command out"
Maybe the Terran isn't so bad after all, That was my last thought before hell started marching up the stairs to bull rush me as I started unloading into the line in front of the door. I was hoping to block the way with their bodies to at least slow them down but they still came rushing through without even a pause. Fuck, I curse as I hit a button on my belt activating two canisters that pop open reavealing two laser turrets that start letting loose pushing the crowd back and holding the horde in the stairwell.
I lay back against the barricade settling in for a long fight, those turrets can last for days. On the plus side I don't have to worry about anything coming down from the skies as the Alliance have the Kaelar completely occupied on that front, and there is no artillery this far back behind enemy lines. Plus I built the turrets myself and I have enough batteries to keep them going for a week or so, but my problem is food and water which I only have three or four days of.

Three Days Later, Terran Command, General Reia.
"We have taken thousands of losses these last few days in retaliation for our strikes against the Kaelar leadership" says an adjutant whose name i've already forgotten,"but we gave as good as we got and it seems something is keeping reinforcments from coming from Pirine City ma'am."
"Something?" I ask with a raised eyebrow and i'm satisfied to see him flinch slightly as he hurries to answer.
"Ma'am, we couldn't get firsthand intel but civilians are saying someone is taking out a whole regiment or at least keeping their attention."
His answer has my complete attention,"Show me!" I order as he rushes to pull up a holo map and a news outlet that are covering the story.
"The Terran Alliances vicious attack on the Kaelar command just a few days ago seems like it is still ongoing", I watch as a reporter talks in front of a cordoned off block where the flashes and sounds of laser and gunfire go off behind her,"Sources suggest one of the agent behind the cruel attack has been holding this building behind me for three days! That's right folks three days and he still shows no signs of stopping as Kaelar casualties have just gone over the one thousand mark!"
I stand watching in a stupor ready to start questioning the adjutant when the reporter seems to get some more information.
"This just in people it seems that the Kaelar really want the agent for questioning as they have pulled their forces back and started planting explosives around the base of the building in the hopes of forcing him to surrender!"
I immediately reel back in shock as I hurriedly start shouting orders in the hopes to take advantage of the Kaelars momentary weakness and to satisfy my curiosity on who that agent may be.
