“Shit.” I couldn’t help but swear as this headache kept pounding away.
I raised my upper body and tilted my head sideways, enjoying the sound of my neck cracking. This has always been part of my daily routine…waking up in a forest was not part of that routine. Neither is the blue screen in front of me.
Welcome, Connor Bishop to your interface.
Please choose a class.
1. Fighter
2. Adept
What the hell is this? I’ve been reading too many web novels, now they’re infiltrating my dreams… isn’t this my first lucid dream?
Awaken.
Wake up.
Earth to Connor! Helloooooooooooo.
…
Well, nothing is working but at least my headache went away. I turned my head around to observe my dream, but the blue screen kept following me around and blocking most of my vision.
Ugh. Fine I guess I have to pick a class.
Fighter or Adept? Fighter seems self-explanatory, which if I were to guess makes Adept magical related.
“Can I get some info on what these classes do dream world?” I spoke to no one, but it didn’t matter since this was all fake. Sadly the dream didn’t seem too receptive to me and ignored my question.
Well since I have no idea what Adept does I’d rather play it safe.
You have chosen Fighter!
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Please pick a starting skill.
1. Strong Strike
2. Hard Skin
Offense or defense? Well, a strong offense is a stronger defense…but I’ve also heard the strongest defense is a better offense. Well, it doesn’t matter so I guess I’ll stick with picking the first option.
You have chosen [Strong Strike].
Please pick a starting weapon.
1. Kitchen Knife
2. Baseball Bat
I’m going with the baseball bat. That’s not even a question.
You have chosen a Baseball Bat and have received starting equipment.
Good luck in your adventures, Wanderer.
A bright light shined on the ground in front of me before gradually dimming down revealing a wooden baseball bat with odd writing inscribed on the surface, and a large brown backpack. Oh shit.
Well if this doesn’t confirm that this is a dream, then I don’t know what will. The farewell message was pretty lackluster though. Thankfully that screen disappeared so I can finally appreciate my surroundings.
Fluffy white clouds lazily drifted across the blue sky above my head, while the sun hovered in the sky. I was expecting two suns or a different color, but I guess I shouldn’t keep my expectations too high.
I got up and grabbed the backpack. There was a bit of weight to it and opened it revealing a few water bottles, and packaged snacks like chips and cookies. How nice of my subconscious to make sure they were all my favorites.
I put it on and then grabbed the baseball bat. A few test swings showed the backpack wouldn’t get in my way, and I stood there for a few minutes taking it all in.
What now?
Status? Status Screen? Status Screen become visible?

Well shit.
New Quest!
Unlock your status screen.
Reward: Status Screen
This dream loves giving me the bare minimum in explanations. I take back my thanks, screw you subconscious!
